but what is it?
but what is it?
Octavia guitar pedal breadboard schematic. Its one of the pedals that Roger Mayer built for jimi hendrix.
Sounds like pure ear-sex, but they are quite expensive to buy so making one seems like a good alternative.
doesn't look that hard, in fact i think i have a lot of those components laying around, might take a dive in my parts bin next week. i know i have a strip board like that and most of the resistors
whats the general effect of it?
that's the thing, he's too technical. there's a difference between being good at playing guitar and being a good guitarist
he's like the retard jock that only goes to the gym to watch himself work out in the mirrors both in the way he looks and how he plays
as dizzy gillespie once said; "maybe if he left some holes in his solos some music would fall out"
"Too technical" is subjective. More often than not it seems to me the people who criticize something for being excessively technical on any instrument really mean either "I like things with clearer, slower, and easier to follow melodies/chords/general movement" or more broadly "I don't like this phrase/piece." Hell, you're quoting a complaint that in context meant "I disapprove of the lack of any sustained notes or rests in this phrase"- which people could (and do) level at some of Gillespie's music too, the dude certainly did his fair share of fluttering about without going anywhere.
You could criticize anyone like that. The Revolutionary Etude isn't bad because you can't follow it, it just means you can't follow it. I can't follow Vai either even on a slow piece, yet some of you guys love him.
Personally I think Broderick's kinda easy to follow because he tends to stick to pretty run of the mill motions within whatever chords he's on.
Who is the worst guitarist on earth?
Steve Vai.
Outstanding logic you have there!
He could quite easily slice his hands off and become the worst guitarist.
Fuck it all, I'm building a baritone guitar

Can't say I agree, aside from the Betcha Can't Play This videos (which are pretty much designed around showing the players chops with little regard for taste), most of the stuff I've heard from Broderick is pretty tasteful, particularly his jazz and classical playing which is absolutely spot on

I WANT TO BUILD THIS PEDAL.

so it's my fault that he plays in a way that I don't like?
aight then cool lol

or is that I'm not smart enough to enjoy his playing
How do you consider him to be better?
I'm no Buckethead expert, but all his stuff seems to be a bit.. meh (Like, what scale is that which he is tapping :S).

Broderick's technique just seems way more solid (not to mention versatile):

it's a chromatic scale with atonal arpeggios usually
Finished the body of my cigar box guitar, and I'm getting plans together for the pickups (want to build my own rather than use some shitty ones off a squier), but I'm curious. Blade pickups, is it just a solid magnet rather than the separate ones used in other pickups? I'm probably going to make some lipstick pickups since I've done them before, but I figure if blades aren't too hard I'll give them a try.
Anyone want to buy my 7 string? I'm trying to downsize a bit while upgrading. I'd take £170 or a good analog delay pedal :v:

[editline]28th April 2011[/editline]
if you've got any experience with soldering you can do it yourself at home
i do but i don't have any equipment
[editline]28th April 2011[/editline]
er, tools i guess i should say, not equipment lol
How long do you think it would take of practicing religiously every day to be able to play as well as this? I wanna be able to do it for a talent show sometime in the future, and I'm only a sophomore right now.

Nah, just that it's a vague and meaningless way to say you don't like something. Just say you don't like it, or if you want to put down a reason put down an actual reason.

If I can't fit it, I don't need it.
I might have to set something like that up. though I'd use my bp200 instead of my digitech whammy pedal, it's got a whammy effect but does other things too so I'm not wasting so much space

I am going to steal your idea; no joke.
That's the best fucking idea I've ever seen. You're a god.

That doesn't look that hard, except for a couple of little sections. With a reasonable amount of practice you get it.
So I've been MIA the past few days cause my internet got cut.. but in that time the bridge for my strat arrived and aint she a looker :p

It's not uncommon for people to make pedalboards out of suitcases. I had an old one when I was a behringer fag then I realise it was impractical (considering how creative it is) and behringer sucked so I sold the lot and began my journey into middle shelf gear! :p I fear for the days I crave top-shelf and boutique gear. I will become poor and homeless.
Top end is where I'm trying to get into pedals, saves you lusting after better pedals and having to make a loss on your old pedals when you try and sell them on. Though some cheap pedals are amazing
What do you guys know/think of the 28" dual pickup 8 string Agiles? I'm planning on saving up for one, to me they look like the best bang for the buck.
I have one of the one pickup ones. Very well built for the price. The pickups aren't great, you'll be happier if you change them but they work

Should I be looking into different pickups? They have blackouts and 808s I think
Well some people like them but I found them a bit lifeless. They're better than a lot of stock pickups but I'm not a fan of actives anyway so I can't say I would recommend either anyway

Would you be willing to ship international?
And what are the specs? (woods, construction, pickups, brand etc)

Which ones would you?

It's an eBay brand thing, to be completely honest it's not worth how much it would cost to get it shipped dude
Which ones would you?
I'm a BareKnuckle fanboy so I was considering one of those for mine, but I don't think I'm going to bother. I'm much more into passive pickups than actives
