It's an eBay brand thing, to be completely honest it's not worth how much it would cost to get it shipped dude
[editline]28th April 2011[/editline]
I'm a BareKnuckle fanboy so I was considering one of those for mine, but I don't think I'm going to bother. I'm much more into passive pickups than actives
Damn. I thought I had hit the jackpot. Been looking for a seven string to mess around on for a while
It's not bad but considering shipping will basically be the price again on top of what you'd be paying it's not worth it. Sorry dude :h:
Top end is where I'm trying to get into pedals, saves you lusting after better pedals and having to make a loss on your old pedals when you try and sell them on. Though some cheap pedals are amazing
Theres a ton of cork-sniffing when it comes to top shelf and boutique pedals.. most people buy them because they're hand made or they're vintage or in very very few cases they are guinely better than something half the price.
I could buy the Dunlop Fuzz Face reissue for £100 or build it BETTER for pretty much half the price. It all comes down to what sounds good to you. I'm happy being in the ~£150 bracket when it comes to pedals which for some can be a lot but depending on what the pedal does I'm happy to pay that if I get my moneys worth, I feel like it's a pretty nice place to sit, you get a good mix of non-expensive pedals that are really very good.

Saying that I would literally kill for some Pete Cornish pedals. Specifically one of his fuzz pedals and a buffer/boost would be nice but they're upwards for £350 for his cheapest ones.

It's not uncommon for people to make pedalboards out of suitcases. I had an old one when I was a behringer fag then I realise it was impractical (considering how creative it is) and behringer sucked so I sold the lot and began my journey into middle shelf gear! :p I fear for the days I crave top-shelf and boutique gear. I will become poor and homeless.
It was a downsize from my old setup. Too much of a pain in the ass to lug to shows. It got really annoying.

Yeah I'm not knocking it, it's a great way to set up your pedals it'd just be too cramped for me and I wouldn't like to limit my self so what I'm doing is making a board that can comfortable fit about 6 pedals.. put 5 on it and just keep buying pedals but swapping in and out the ones I really want to use or need.
You could also make 2 small boards and find 2 bags to fit them into, you get more pedals and it's easier to transport two small bags than it is to lug around one massive case/board.
Went to the guitar store to get an appraisal on how much it'll cost to get my machine heads replaced on the gretsch and how much it'll cost to get the body filled in. Saw one of those cool old amp-in-case guitars, the ones silvertone made. They were selling it with the case and everything.
The entry model guitars back during the 60's and 70's were way nicer than the entry models we shell out for now man.
Yea, I'm actually going to move the wah as a standalone on the side of the brief case, it's too damn bulky. I want room for an analog comp, and an aquapuss.

Plus i'll be able to squeeze the power strip in. I'm just looking for all out practicality.
Aquapuss is cool man my only issue is that it's far too limiting (considering the rest of Way Huges other line of hugely diverse pedals). I'd rather get a delay that can do long delays.. even if I only wanted Slap-back like the Aquapuss.. it gives me the option in the future if I want more.. instead of spending even more money for another pedal.

You want to fill in a hollow body D: ?
Then you lose all that hollow body tone goodness. It'll probably sound muddy as hell too :S
Unless I'm not thinking of the right then when you say "fill in".

Oh hell naw, that was a huge typo on my part. I would NEVER fill in the body of a hollowbody that'd kill the whole point. Nah, I meant fill in the chunk that fell out of my epiphone when it got smashed on a tile floor.
(Also, on the gretsch point, totally getting a synchromatic G100 this year. http://www.willcuttguitars.com/product%20images/021611/KS06073872-2small.jpg )
((That and a Danelectro. I want too many guitars :3))
I'd love a Danelectro guitar, they're cool.
I'd love a Danelectro guitar, they're cool.
Cheap as hell too, but I don't mind cheap so long as they're not a knockoff of something expensive.
I got my particular epiphone because it wasn't a gibson knock off, it was an original model that only they make. My beef with cheap guitars these days is that they're all just knockoffs of a more expensive product.
Aren't Danelectros made out of plywood

Masonite more often, and not much at all these days. Either way, the tones fucking amazing.

They look and sound unique, that's all that matters. Unless you're paying twice the price or more, then maybe the wood matters more.

Nooooo.
About how much should it cost to put a new set of pickups into my strat?
I want to buy a cheap strat body in white and have my friend draw on it and then hopefully we can paint it and have it covered somehow so it's permanent.
How long do you think it would take of practicing religiously every day to be able to play as well as this? I wanna be able to do it for a talent show sometime in the future, and I'm only a sophomore right now.

~ One-two years.

Just do it yourself?
I really should get a sustainer coil for one of my guitars.
About how much should it cost to put a new set of pickups into my strat?
It shouldn't cost a whole lot, it's piss easy to do if you have semi-decent soldering skills.

Make sure you use paint markers then :p the amount of times I've seen people use regular sharpies and other markers to "design" a guitar then cover it in their chosen lacquer and have it smear like crazy.
Guys, quick question. Epiphone SG-310. Thinking about buying it to replace my extremely-bad sounding Squier Strat (was from one of those bundles sadly, that's probably the reason why it's so bad), have just found the one I want on ebay (emily the strange). But now I remembered how much I liked the Epiphone les Paul Standard I played over in a music store. The Les Paul is much more expensive though and I can't really afford it. I was thinking about getting a new guitar because I am actually getting lessons soon and I don't want to use my shitty strat.
What should I do ? Try to get the SG for cheap on ebay ? Or should I just save up a bit and buy the Les Paul?
The Emily The Strange guitar really won't be any better than what you have, they're just gimmick guitars. I'd stick it out and wait for a better guitar.
And replacing a strat with a guitar with humbuckers in a les paul configuration will drastically change the kind of sounds you get from your guitar.. and remember the size of the neck is completely different.. everything will feel squashed in when you play the Les Paul or SG, if you're used to the strat neck.
hm I guessed so. I guess I should really save up a bit. Thanks!
Well, I played the Les Paul for a while and I found it really comfortable to play and I really liked the humbuckers. When I bought the Strat I didn't know much about guitars or how each pickup would sound like and I must say I kinda dig the sound a humbucker produces. I have to say though that on my current strat the action is very very low, so yeah, the neck might take a while to get used to it but I haven't had any guitar lessons yet. I am not very good atm anyway, so I think that's not too much of a problem. :)
Edit:
While we are on it, any recommendations actually ? Doesn't matter if it's a bit more expensive than an EP LP standard, I will just check it out it and if I really really like it then I might just save up some more. I want this guitar to produce a sound that I like (although that's not too hard, I like prettty much all sounds) and it should be a guitar that can last me a few years until I get better and actually want some godlike guitar.
Epiphones cheapest range of Les Pauls are a good starting point I guess, I can't comment because I only ever owned one briefly before getting moving to Stratocasters.
Put it this way.. you can get a new guitar now that's only just as good as the one you have or slightly better.. meaning when you realise you need or want a new guitar you'll be spending more money on something probably only a little better again but if you save for a bit longer you could get a nice guitar that could last you a while.
And buying used guitars is great and I think if you're in the price range of some kind of cheaper Epiphone you wont need to worry so much about scams and rip offs. Buying used Fenders for example can be risky business sometimes because they're not difficult to fake and most people don't know how to discern a fake from the real deal.
I see a lot of fake gibsons and fenders, but ibanez, schecter, and epiphone are all generally pretty safe to buy used
[editline]29th April 2011[/editline]
most other brands too but nobody likes dean and jacksons are really shitty if you're not getting the top of the line guitars
Seen fake Ibanez before but they're not so common and again it was their high end stuff.

Yep time to do nothing but slide for a few weeks. This just blew my mind verily.
I've always wondered...if you can't tell the difference between some fakes and the real thing, why is the fake so bad? Being exactly the same kind of means....being exactly the same.

I can tell the difference. fakes generally all use cheap woods and hardware, have a shit finish, etc.

People who are inexperienced can't tell the difference but people who have experience (are you experienced /hendrix), can tell easily. It's like with fine wines or cigars. Someone who's never smoked before can't tell between a cuban and a backwoods.
