I've always wondered...if you can't tell the difference between some fakes and the real thing, why is the fake so bad? Being exactly the same kind of means....being exactly the same.
A fake doesnt mean it's an exact replica made just for kicks. They're fakes that are made low quality but sell for triple the cost it took to make. It wouldn't make sense to make a piece for piece replica of a Fender or something.. if I could do that I'd be sending my resume to Fender for a job.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW08Rc802MQ Yep time to do nothing but slide for a few weeks. This just blew my mind verily.
I'm gonna do this song my way for upcoming concerts now that I've watched it. Awesome song.

Would you guys recommend getting a tube screamer if I'm going to be running it through a solid state amp? I've heard from some people that it's good for emulating a tube sound, but other people have told me that it's not worth it unless you use it to push a tube amp.
It's not for emulating a tube sound, it's for driving a low-gain tube amp or an amp that isnt usually turned all the way up. It won't sound too bad through a Solid State though, it'll still give you a nice soft clip overdrive sound. Overdrive pedals shouldnt ever effect your actual tone, just boost or break it up.
That's why i prefer distortion.
that's why I prefer overdrive and distortion my Boss OS-2 pushes out pretty damn beautiful tone
Yeah, distortion starts leading you into other genres. The most "distortion" I'll use is a fuzz pedal which is in a league of it's own hence the difference between a fuzz pedal and a distortion pedal in the first place.
is £60 a good price for a jimi hendrix octavio?
Jonesing for a resonator now, everything else is going aside. Gonna hopefully get one in june (unless I encounter a balalaika in Prague). I dunno what it sounds like but http://www.chorder.com/images/electric-guitars/full/502_2.jpg looks really cool, would have to play it to be sure. Shame so few stores sell resonators up here. I really dont want to have to order one by mail.

Any of the bigger stores really only seem to carry a very limited selection of instruments that aren't strat copies or regular acoustics. in my experience anyway. if you can find any small shops you should ask around in there, they might know something.

Thing is, up here in MA most people don't play the style associated with resonators and dobros. The small stores in my area only have the cheaper resonators :\.

Seems like your shit out of luck. or just bite the bullet and buy one :S
is £60 a good price for a jimi hendrix octavio?
The Dunlop one? Yeah that's a pretty decent price.
Would this be the correct place to request a tab? 'Tis only a short one.

Nice one. I really wanna get one too.
Have any of you guys tried Behringer's UM300? I'm considering buying it as I like the aggressive tone but I'm not quite sure as I haven't tried it with my gear. The only place I've heard it is on the web. Could any of you give me some advice?
Any of Behringers small Boss-like pedals are a no-no. They're crappy knockoffs of better pedals.
http://soundcloud.com/souls-at-zero/guitar-solo-at-170-bpm-in-5 Yeeaah.
I can do that too! Yeeaaah.
Would this be the correct place to request a tab? 'Tis only a short one.
Don't see why not, but no guarantees we'll get it.
guess what I got I've actually had the thing for years but it broke right on the hole the strap button goes in about 2 years ago, I just now decided to punch a new hole (since I play higher than I did then anyway) and holy fuck I regret ever leaving this strap
Don't see why not, but no guarantees we'll get it.
The chordy bit at the start is G A# C, I think. But that's all I got.

http://cavestory.sebastianwolff.info/ Get yourself a MIDI and run it through guitar pro or whatever and see if it sounds right and if it doesn't tell me and I'll look at it.
Got a killer clean tone on my amp right now.. don't think I'm going to change from this, now I'll just use pedals for overdrive and others because this is THE clean tone I've been hunting for :p

Of course you'll have to simplify it a bit. I mean if you want me to I can still have a go at it, doesn't matter to me other than my GP installation is spotty.

I've been having a go at the main riff to Battery. It's a bit of a bastard to play, but I think with a bit more practice I think I'll have it. What do you lot think?
