Guuuuys? Is there anything to think about when tuning my guitar differently?
Heavier strings and standard tunings often don't go and it will pull your neck forward.. adjusting the truss rod might be too stressful but I had a pro set up my guitar for 12s and E standard and it honestly sucked so now I'm on 11s and E standard. If you tune down your neck might still change but not so much that it will affect the playing.. but if you have light strings and tune down it's going to be hella shit and just based on averages you'll have 9 or 10 guage strings.. I wouldn't tune down at all with those. Heavy strings and down tuning go hand in hand and the opposite is true.
I love how Roy Rogers just said fuck it and mounted a humbucker right in the center of his acoustics soundhole. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/xqrk_sPjfPE/0.jpg I thought it'd sound weird with nylon strings but it seems to sound pretty good, and it is his main guitar.

It's an old parlor guitar with a humbucker thrown in and steel strings.
You can't use electric pickups with nylon strings, pickups respond to the metal in strings :v:
you mean magnetic. piezo pickups are electric, and they work for any instrument basically.
I would assume common sense applied in such situations
Zing again lol
Oh god Arabic modes and bass. :neckbeard: Though I'm retarded and need some info again. Do people who normally play fingered bass keep nails? I don't mean like long-ass classical guitar nails, just something more than nothing. I keep mine ridiculously trimmed (lot of stuff I do scrapes at 'em) and I'm wondering if that matters at all. Seems like some people do have enough to hit the string and some don't but no mention of what's normal. Also, on my E string, I'm having an issue with the neck pup's pole pieces being too close and "catching" it occasionally, and it's not an action issue (IIRC I actually have the action higher than normal.) Would screwing in just that side of the pup a little bit work, or do I have to sink the whole thing a bit?
I've never seen a bassist who keeps nails. I imagine the strings would just wear them down very quickly. My friend's bass had the same problem with the polepieces. Putting down one side or lowering the whole pickup could work, but will affect the tone. What Billy Sheehan has done is coat the top of the pickup in epoxy, which stops direct contact with the pole
Do it whatever way is comfortable. [editline]2nd May 2011[/editline] Current version of my unfinished pedal board. Down-scaled because the temporary powersupply I'm using only works on Center negative pedals.

I thought just lowering it mainly drops output, I meant more would the harmonics get fucked up if I tilted it to one side. Though a little epoxy cover seems like an interesting idea. Eh, I'll just fuck with the height later and see what works.
OH SHIT I just got this.... for £40 If you don't understand the significance.. Sovtek are a russian company that, in russia, produce russian counterparts to non-russian electro harmonix pedals and being russian they're in big scary russian green russian cases probably shaped by being chewed up by some angry russian in russia. These are pretty sought after pedals these days.. next step Sovtek Green Big Muff Pi plssss. Russia.

I really need to get a slide, seriously that is an awesome playing style for guitar. [editline]1st May 2011[/editline] That's it, I'm getting me a goddamn slide. I'm serious about this. All my focus on guitar is going into slide blues.

Always loved slide, never this much.

I /really/ don't want to order one, might just buy the shitty one I saw at my store, have 'em come down 50$ on it and then use the savings to install new tuners and then get a pickup in front of the cone later.

This is the place where I saw it. [editline]1st May 2011[/editline] Found something: http://www.guitarworksinc.net/store/productdisplay.asp?productid=249 $290 and I can vouch for the quality of the guitars they build themselves. They're on par with and sometimes even beat large brands.

Can't find any information on the model name though. Ah well, I'm probably just gonna save my dough and get a republic triolian. http://www.republicguitars.com/guitarsotherproducts.html The second one down is the one that's got my eye gleaming.

They build their own guitars.
Well it's built in the shop owned by the store owner. They build their own guitars.
Oh really, now that's different. Shame I don't live in the area :\, way above that mason dixon line haha.
Oh really, now that's different. Shame I don't live in the area :\, way above that mason dixon line haha.
Ah, damn. They do build fine guitars. Look around for local shops such as the one near me. That is unless you already have.

I'm going down south later this year, I know they're more common down there. I generally don't order instruments online if I don't have to. Want to get a real good feel for it before I commit, the only exception in my current arsenal is my octave mandolin. You'll never find one of those in a shop here.
Should I get a LowDown® LD150 or should I get a line 6 bass pod led into a cheaper amp?
I'd just wait it out and buy a better setup. It'll last longer and be more worthwhile in the long run in my opinion, but if you really want either of those, it's hard to talk yourself out of it haha.

I am going for a mid rage amp here, not their cheapest, and I don't think I'd need anything more powerful for a while.
I'm gonna sell my Wah Huge Swollen Pickle Fuzz pedal :) Awesome pedal but it's not the kind of fuzz I'm after.
