Decided I'm going to sell a few things actually. Selling a Vintage Wolfgang Copy and my Swollen Pickle Fuzz and I'm tempted to sell my 2002 Fender Strat with a hardcase.
Just changed the strings on my 7, also cleaned her up a little in the process. I mixed and matched 3 sets of strings which include Standard EB's, the Bareknuckle 10's that came with my pickups, and a set of GHS 10's just for the hell of it. I guess we'll see how it sounds, I'm breaking them in right now, and then tuning up. You can really see the quality of rosewood on the fretboard here. Very satisfied :) Gah I love this thing
*post above*
That is a great looking guitar, how does it sound?
Looks like it has a G&L Telecaster bridge, what bridge is it exactly?
Looks like a Hipshot
I was going to say Hipshot but it doesn't look funky enough :p Nevermind, I forgot G&Ls Tele bridges still have the Tele-like saddles..but 6 of them.
Should I get a fretless bass as my first bass? I'm a pretty hard practicer and I already play some guitar
So apparently my uncle is friends with Stevie Ray Vaughan's old guitar tech from 1981 to 1985. I didn't believe it either until my mom told me about him. He's married to the owner of Anne's Toy Depot (a local toy shop). In the 70s, my uncle worked at a bar called Gordos as the Bartender. The tech was a regular there playing in bands and bring in bands and they became good friends. I might get to meet him. This all happened because I wanted a fender body. This is a small world after all.
Selling this. Probably gonna start the price at £250 on ebay. It was made in 2002.

I know I just bought it but I play it a lot less than I thought I would and my G&L outplays it on every front.
I'm very tempted right now to buy that. yet i have no money right now.
Will probably put it up on ebay tomorrow along with another guitar and my way huge fuzz (swollen pickle) kinda getting rid of some gear and thinking of investing it in an amp.
http://www.republicguitars.com/parlorsizeminiolian.html Found my resonator. The store sold the last one while I was in there (-_-) but I liked it quite a bit. Would rather get something with a decent name than get a Johnson or a Rogue. That, and it's a pretty signature look.
gud deal y/n http://cgi.ebay.com/Fender-standard-strat-body-xtras-free-shipping-/120718139688?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item1c1b5ca128
Yeah that's a pretty decent deal. Speaking of guitar parts.. I get paid in a few days which means I'm rounding up the rest of the parts I need to finish my Strat off :D
Looks like it has a G&L Telecaster bridge, what bridge is it exactly?
Yup, it's a hipshot, it's only temporary though, still gotta finish my custom bridge
I was about to ask why have 3 tele saddles and then one tele-ish saddle but it's a 7 string lol :p Cool though remember with T-Style saddles you'll never get your intonation correct, even compensated ones are tricky.
Yeah, I don't get the point of using something so antiquated, they only put those on vintage guitars for a reason.
Because they have styyyyyyyyyyyyyyyle. Technically a whole bunch of stuff on a guitar is fucked up scientifically, or, put another way, the instrument is such a rolling clusterfuck that it kinda doesn't matter as long as it stays vaguely right.
Oh no I fucking love Telecaster bridges.. but one of the cons of using them is never-perfect intonation.. but I honestly never cared much for intonation. I do it as good as I can get it and leave it.. same for action and pickup height. I adjust it until it sounds good to me then I leave it. The only time I'd take a guitar to a tech for a setup is if 1. it's new to me/factory fresh or 2. if there is something majorly fucked beyond my ability to repair or if i needed it refretted.
I see...
The tone from a Tele bridge is fantastic.. the strings vibrate much more freely and it just feels richer and sustainy.
Not sure which way I prefer this.. Obviously there is the issue of the screwholes when the plate is off but I kind of like the bare look.
New song I'm making. Guitars and bass are still in guitar pro form, but I processed the drums through drumsite. Thoughts?
does anyone know of a video or something comparing different types of strings like flatwounds or half rounds to regular
It's mostly a marketing scheme tbh.. flatwounds theoretically would be easier to play because they dont dig into your fingers as much but then you'd probably lose either tone or vibiration quality. That said, I've never seen a video comparison.
I was about to ask why have 3 tele saddles and then one tele-ish saddle but it's a 7 string lol :p Cool though remember with T-Style saddles you'll never get your intonation correct, even compensated ones are tricky.
Well obviously it's going to affect intonation slightly, a lot of people would argue that a lot of that tele "twang" you hear about all the time is due to having 3 brass T-saddles, but the reason I want to incorporate it into this design is because I love the feel of having 3 brass saddles. It may or may not affect tone based on a mass degree of public opinion, but being a tele player for a long time, I wanted to incorporate a similar bridge (which is a compensated callaham) into this guitar. I'm basically just using something that has worked wonderfully for me in the past in a newer application, which happens to be this guitar. Leo got it right the first time :)
I agree with that. Like I said I love Telecaster bridges, compensated or not. There's nothing quite like them.. I think I'm going to replace the nickel saddles of my Tele's bridge with brass saddles.
