Guitar Discussion Thread V7 - More strings the better
Well, you see, you have to turn the little pegs at the top
Never would of thunk it. But really, joking aside, what can I do to make the last 4 strings sound right? They always fall too flat or too sharp.
Well I worked on my partscaster, got it rewired up, and installed a killswitch.
But...
Since I had to redo the ground wire since it broke off from the pot, instead of soldering it back onto the pot i soldered it to the negative lead from volume. Now my volume wont go completely off at 0 and my middle pickup's tone turns the sound off when the middle pickup is on, otherwise it works fine.
Sorta

Tune in one direction (high to low OR low to high), not randomly or you'll never get it right.
Try to make "power" chords with one string open and the other on the 2nd fret, and if bending the note makes it sound right, the fretted string needs to be tightened.

Alright, thanks!
Also if all else fails, load up this on some good speakers. First top-rated comment is helpful too.
Bought a harmonica today when I went to go buy some lighter strings for tuning all open like. I need one of those bob-dylan neck harnesses so I can accompany myself.
But guitar related, put my resonator on hold for two months until I can come up with the dough to pay it all off at once. None of this pay in installments crap, my incomes two irregular for that to be a good idea.
This will be mine soon.

It's kind of my fix until I can afford a '65 Deluxe Reverb :p
Where can I get a good guide on how to make[sp]bass[/sp]effect pedals?
Bringing this up because it has gone unanswered and I really want to know this, I have googled and have not found anything useful.
There's no such thing as a "bass" effects pedal, any pedal will work with a bass. There are some geared towards bassists like compressors and such but anything will work.

I might just settle for that once I get the cash. You kinda convinced me with those demo videos. Sounded like sex on there, but give me your own review once you're past the gear honey moon. I really wanna know how it plays.
Well I don't get to meet the guitar tech for SRV, but apparently if I mention his name to South Austin Guitars or Vintage guitars, I'll get a discount on a 57 or 59 complete body (original pickups, pick guard, body, wiring, tremolo, saddles, etc). So I'm pretty happy with that.

Guitar distortions and overdrives sound like shit with bass because they take all your low end away. There's a reason there are bass versions of guitar pedals.

Depends on the individual pedal. I've heard guitar pedals that sounded better on bass and bass pedals that sound better on guitar. Most of the pedals that make fundamentals blurry sound like shit on guitar as well as bass anyway (they also tend to be cheap and kinda sucky.)
Just use whatever the fuck works.
I used my newly acquired Ibanez Trashmetal on my bass and it sounds awesome.

yeah that solo is pretty awesome
i saw that yesterday, shits cash, guy looks like he's having lots of fun too.
I'm kind of sad Joe Bonamassas stuff lately has took a huge dive from his earlier blues stuff, he's a fucking fantastic guitarist all-round but for example he's like John Mayer, he's doing one genre when he really suits another better.
Not to say I think he should do Blues and not what he has a passion for or wants to do.. but you can clearly see he's brimming with talent to do so.

And the fact that he's using a Les Paul to do all of this stuff makes me want one.. Not sure if I could get past the different scale sized compared to a Strat though. Borrowing a friends to give it a whirl.
