They had to record some songs at Pier 57 as the studio kicked them out for being too loud. When they were recording songs at Pier 57, they were so loud that people on boats complained they could hear the sound at 9 miles (14km) away. Because they recorded songs both outside and inside, they named their 2nd album "Outsideinside"
Now THAT is unstoppable power
Now THAT is unstoppable power
True that. That's insane.
Also, got a cheap harmonica mic in the mail from yesterday. Mounted it inside my acoustic guitar, makes the sound really cool.
Now THAT is unstoppable power
not necessarily, they might just be like the fuckheads next to us when we rehearse
they mic up everything and put it on the highest volume, we can't even record when they're rehearsing their shit songs
That was in 1969 :v:
okay, they might've been just like the fuckheads next to us
Oh well, they're Blue Cheer, they're allowed :frogc00l:
I need some help with amps
After 6 years or so of playing my electrics through a 30W practice amp, it's about time I got something I can bring to my bands practice and actually gig with. Because I'm poor, I have to give up the dream of getting an Axe-FX for now...
So, I need some suggestions of amps to look for and test out :buddy:
I've done a bit of research and from what I've read, a 2x12 combo amp will be suitable for bedroom practice, band rehearsals and small-medium sized gigs, so that's probably what I'm aiming at. The Peavey Valveking 212 is one amp I've found and I'll hopefully be able to find one and have a play.
I play in a post-metal band so I'm not necessarily looking for something super high-gain (I've been really liking my friend's Fender Deluxe in fact), I'd also need to be able to get some decent crunchy/bluesy/country tones. I play an Ibanez RG7620 and a PRS SE C22. Some examples of tones I like would be those coming from Porcupine Tree, Opeth etc, just that thick and heavy kinda sound.
Because I'm poor, I can't be super picky though, so basically I guess I'm looking for the best all round tube amp combo for around $1000AUD.
$996.80AUS
[editline]8th May 2011[/editline]
shipping I don't know, no idea if they do to Aus or not.
:barf:
I hated the MA I tried. Anything below DSL from Marshall isn't worth it IMO
both guitarists from my band are gonna use that setup. the HB cab has good speakers as well.
Diff'rent strokes and all that, wasn't my style at all. I will agree the HB cabs seem like a great deal :buddy:
$AUD
I'm talking USD. Unless they started counting Aussiebux like Yen there's only a $70 variance at $1000, and it leans strong on the AUD.
The MA is like the tube version of the MG series.
That isnt a good thing, really.
I think I'm going to bite the bullet and buy the Bugera V22 tonight. Just working up the courage.
I'm trying to get the balls to email the Bareknuckle guy. I'm this close to using my stupid bullshit fund this month on something else (not like those pups will go anywhere), but then I practice less because I still think my git sounds gross.
[editline]8th May 2011[/editline]
Actually, you know what, fuck it, I'll buy everything and skimp on booze or something for a bit.
Not to be that way, but considering you can get a B-stock Axe-FX Ultra for $1800 or a regular new one on sale for $1500 or $1400 lightly used, why not just save up a bit longer and get one later?
The problem with that is I still need to buy a cab/speaker and as I understand it a poweramp for that as well?
This isn't a purchase I'm going to be doing this week, I'm just trying to work out what I'm looking at seeing as I know very little about amps. Thanks for all your responses :buddy:

This site is like my dream world. So much un-loved equipment people don't want ;_; . I want that 4 pickup Teisco just because it's so over the top, but more over, the low-end vintage guitar I want is the Kay Thin Twin: http://www.guitarchopshop.com/home/images/1-522.jpg
I would recommend a peavey 6505+ for any metal i can think of you might want to look into those.

Hawtness.
guitars with the pickups that close together look weird to me
obviously they still have a different sound but I always think of what could have been in terms of placement
HNGG Axe-FX II just got announced, if you thought the original was sex this sounds mindblowing:

Need...demos...
Actually, I don't remember their demos being spectacular for the original either.

Have you heard Devin Townsend's patch from the Axe-Fx? It sounds awesome.
hell yeah for drinking caffeinated soda at like midnight, then staying up till around 2 playing guitar in my room

Good for death, black and thrash, or anything with just distortion. Not so good if you need a good sounding clean channel

Rail some blow at 2, and stay up for 3 days binging.
Has anyone used an amplug, and are they any good?
Listen! I've learned my first electric guitar solo and RECORDED it. It's the first one from Knockin' on Heavens door, easy and nice.

You can hear the guitar humming towards the end :/
I think I'm going to actually pull the trigger on the Bugera V22 tonight and buy it.. I keep backing out of doing it even though I REALLY want it. I have commitment issues :p
[editline]9th May 2011[/editline]
Also nice job Swebonny, how long have you been playing for now?
I've been playing the classical and acoustic guitar for a while. And I've owned this electric guitar for some time, but I haven't really used it much.
I can't remember when I posted in this thread first, but yeah, that's when I decided to really get down with my electric guitar.
