Guitar Discussion Thread V7 - More strings the better

Okay the next thing i'm going to get for my rig is either active EMG pickups or a hellraiser C-7 guitar, or if not that an Agile intrepid 727.
good solo, but the guitar tone is making my ears bleed.
Thanks! I will try to make the sound more ear friendly.
I gotta read more about guitar sounds. I barely know what half of the options on my multiprocessor does.
are there any good techniques to help my speed switching between chords?
Has anyone used an amplug, and are they any good?
Yea I have one, they're pretty crappy. They're good for travelling, but Danelectro makes two battery powered amps which are superior, because they're still travel sized but headphones are optional (look at the Hodad and the Honeytone).
You can hear the guitar humming towards the end :/
Noise gates are a wonderful thing.

Just keep switching between chords. You can also concentrate on keeping your right hand consistent, even if you strum open/muted strings while you change your left hand position it will still sound nice and natural as long as you don't break up your right hand rhythm.
Do it slowly at first, and concentrate on getting everything to sound fluid and natural. It is important that you play perfectly even though you are playing slowly. As you get more competent at slower speeds, you can go faster. You can use this basic method of practicing for improving almost any technique
Chords are muscle memory more than anything, so you will also pick it up over time.
Aw gosh.. I have £650 in the bank from ebay stuff.. tempted to buy things. GAS GAS GAS GAS GAS

Take some pepto, lad.
(Then...I'm jonesing for a resonator, a Dano-pro and a Vox 'lil night train so I'm one to talk)
My guitar is Stringless and sad. :smith:
I just spent all my money from gigs on some leather boots that I love so fucking much.
I think I'm going to pick up a nice boost pedal soon along with the Bugera V22 since I get this ebay money through. Once ebay get their arse and gear and unrestrict my account :p
It's under inspection because I've had too much money come into my account in the past 5 months so they suspect I'm money laundering lmao :p
(Wasnt trying to brag about that)

you shouldn't ever take all the strings off a guitar and leave it that way for more than a few minutes

That's a bit of a exaggeration, most people that repair guitars will tell you that's not truth unless you use very high gauge strings or have some guitar that has a weak neck. It's also good to clean the neck once in a while..

It'll be fine, you could leave it stringless for weeks or probably indefinitely to be honest. You might just need to adjust the truss rod after
Offtopic: Any Australians here interested in buying a fine example of a Japanese made 7 string Ibanez RG?

Not an aussie, but what is it?
Looks like I wont be able to play my guitar until Sunday ): I've just broken yet another string (Low E) at the exact same spot. There's no use in putting another one on because it'll just get broken like the others, so I'll have to let my teacher have a look at it at my next lesson :/

I prefer strats to teles anyway. but it's not like I could get anything decent for my tele even if I sold it for dosh
Fucking hell. I pick up a kickass 2001 Dunlop/MXR TS-1 Tremolo and it's kind of faulty.
Contacting Dunlop's tech to see if I can get it repaired outside of the warranty :p
Changing mah gretsch's strings. Putting strings on a bigsby arm is like pulling teeth.
Also, hate going to chain stores (support your local music store :D!) but Daddys Junky Music is the only place that'll buy my useless crap.

1999 Ibanez RG7620 in Royal Blue
How much would it cost for a fret installation?

Oh my fuckin god, you are so right. I went a gauge up on my Ibanez and that Bigsby just made me go all apeshit trying to change strings. Is it easier with two people? I did it by myself. Turned out great, I just got impatient and didn't rap them around the pegs enough.
