The thing is, I already have my custom guitar all done, I was planing to build one to sell, it would be nice to keep but, I'd rather have the money right now.
Selling parts guitars is very difficult.. not many people are willing to go for a guitar that's made from random bits no matter how good it looks or sounds.
What do you people do when you're having a massive writers block when making songs?
Try something completely new, or learn other songs to discover new approaches.
For example, a good chunk of my writing is the PT-esque drop D riffage for my band, but when I can't write anything groovy I mess around with some chord shapes and try and write something melodic. There's not really a lot that I can think of to do beside that.

That's my exact writing style but back to front. I generally try to write the melodic or acoustic stuff for my band, but when I can't I start doing funky PT-esqe odd timing riffage in drop D.
Once I get my El Capistan and perhaps another relevant pedal I'm going to start making some original music and posting it on youtube :p

I'll go with your logic and sell off my parts...
:smith:
I have no further money to invest into building a guitar JUST for my use.
Les Paul-people: what do you do with your pickup selector? I'm constantly switching it down by accident when I'm playing, so I unscrew the top cap and but some tape over it.
I pick accurately :smug:
I never hit my pickup selector on any of my guitars accidentally.

not a problem for mine... maybe you'r picking it wrong?
The only pickup selector I hit is the one on my stratocaster, that was a good reason why I got a les paul in the first place. And I made sure my Partscaster had no 5 way switch.
My playing style may be a bit volatile at times, with limbs and guitars flying around.

How much would it cost to make?
Parts guitars are cheap to make (and can be as quality as say a Fender if it was a parts-caster) but the re-sale value is low.
Some guys purely through reputation build amazing parts guitars but they sell for thousands of dollars because they're sourced/NOS parts from real top quality guitars from the past etc.
How much would it cost to make?
I got the high quality neck already, I would have to tack on another $250
So it would be $450 just in parts.
i never hit my pickup selector but i sometimes turn my strats volume knob down because i have a bad habit of anchoring with my pinky finger.
It plays like a beast aswell and its so cheap! Mines in red but do they even do a white one?
the tremolo arm is alright but it made my guitar go out of tune so I decided to take it off but the whole bridge just bust into little bits haha
They don't make it in white which is a shame. Favorite color for a guitar here. And that's a shame on the tremolo arm, I guess the quality is kinda 50/50. A lot of non-brand arms are, personally I can't live without a bigsby.
Oh noes.. I've went into pedal mania mode again.
Bought a Fuzz Face tonight and I'm probably going to buy a Marshall The Guv'nor (the good original 90s one) and a Tuner then on monday I'm dropping a bomb on a Strymon El Capistan.
I know it sounds like I have a lot of money to be wasting but I'm a sucker for a good deal and 90% of the time I'm buying used and snagging great deals and I can generally flip a pedal back on ebay if I don't bond with it and make mostly what I paid back or sometimes profit if I get lucky.
The El Capistan will be the most expensive and one of the few brand new pedals I've ever bought. £250 D:
i will sell you my dunlop jimi hendrix octavio if you want :P
Wut.. didnt you only get it recently?
I really want one too lol..
just kidding.
i really need to build a pedal board. might just get some wood and velcrow and go to town on them.
dick :p
Hey guys, I feel good about myself today - I feel I've gained enough skill with a guitar to be able to post in this thread!
K I bought a Fuzz Face and a modded Boss SD-1 .. don't think I'm gonna spend anymore until Monday when I get that beast of a echo pedal.
i got paid today. £1000 a month a think i can treat myself to a couple of pedals, what should i get?
i could use a better wah my gcb-95 just doesn't cut it and i fancy buying a distortion pedal like the ocd or proco rat
Believe it or not the Dimebag Darrell Wah is fucking awesome.
I've bought too many pedals recently.
My collection now goes
Mech. modded GCB-95 Wah -> Red Fuzz Face -> Big Muff -> Double Muff -> Biyang Tubescreamer -> Modded Boss SD-1 -> Marshall Regenerator -> Dunlop TS-1 Tremolo -> El Capistan and possibly either a Boss DD-3 or a Way Huge Aquapuss.
I have a fucking problem :p
my pedal board:
Amp loop send -> EHX holy grail -> Boss CH-1 super chorus -> EHX memory boy -> Amp loop receive.
Amp input -> GCB-95 -> Dunlop octavio -> Boss SD1 -> Boss TU-3 -> Guitar.
the problem with the gcb-95 for me is that it doesn't have a big enough range and the change in eq is too sudden, its not smooth enough.

The Dimebag wah is absurdly good, particularly for the price I got it, since I picked it up in NY :v:
just been looking at comparison videos and it sounds pretty decent.
also the kirk hammet one sounds like shit to my ears. i would never buy anything with his name on it.
The D-bag one has a really kickass, consistent range. Not heard it too much on cleans but it's good for gainey stuff (obviously).
Also you want Delay then Reverb at the end of your chain wether it's in the loop or infront of the amp, you'll get the maximum clarity from each pedal that way.
