• How furry porn was sold in the 90's
Furry communities existed in the early 90s, even before the "internet" there were people who RPed on usenet. Hell, the word "yiff" was created in the early 90s (although at the time it didn't have sexual connotations). People just didn't become widely aware of furries until Something Awful came along.
Can confirm that furries (and a whole lot of other things) existed before the "world wide web" proper. Helped my dad run a BBS and we often saw all sorts of oddities. Everything from husbands and wives finding someone to cheat with to beastiality and pedophilia. Didn't see tons of furries back then and due to how slow sharing pictures could be, they were more of an RP community. They were far from the only ones, with people RPing sexual encounters, fantasy worlds (with fucking), summoning demons (and fucking them), etc. Shit got real weird in the corners of the net. The craziest of furries, the ones who actually believed their own RP, often also interacted with the "magic" community (not magic tricks, think "eldritch magicks"). People started "successfully" casting spells to give themselves wings, to change their bodies, and other assorted weirdness. Then it became "awakening", where you have some sort of creature inside you and you become it over time, with your human side being just a mask. A few polymorph spells later Otherkin were born. If you want to get an idea of what usenet "magic" was like go to spellsofmagic.com. The community is not that different from what it used to be like. Otherkin however are nothing like they used to be. Besides a few holdout sites they've mixed with "progressive" perpetually-offended SJW culture to become Tumblrkin. It's funny because barely anyone cared about otherkin until they became so obnoxious. They really are victims of their own persecution complex.
Also, why are there so many furries on FP?
There used to be a semi-popular furry subforum When it got wiped from the face of the earth along with some others, the majority of the regulars were adaptable, somewhat normal human beings who could accept it and just talk about their other hobbies on here, while others went on an exodus to default phpbb garbage
You mean like the April Fur's Day incident?
Nah, it was around for years, along with a bunch of other lifestyle / hobby boards (airsoft, cars, drugs, LGBT, languages) and nobody got banned, a lot of members just left because it was the only part of the forum they ever posted in
This thread hasn't torn itself apart and exploded yet? I am almost impressed Also, why are there so many furries on FP?
Also I remember seeing in a poll that tons of furries work in IT related fields. Being this is a site that is PC gaming and tech oriented, I mean it sort of checks out. EDIT: Here is one from 2011 with a 2000 person sample size. https://sites.google.com/site/anthropomorphicresearch/past-results/international-furry-survey-summer-2011 Section Q11. ~25% in art related fields, and ~28% in computer related fields and ~24% in general science and engineering. Apparently, most furries with degrees are actually STEM majors.
People are paying hundreds of dollars for pictures of anthropomorphic animals fucking? man fuck this gay earth
No joke, one of the Falco/Fox macro images is actually exactly that, fucking the earth :v:

i want you all to realize that this video and knowledge of it had lied dormant until 2015 i just find it unbelievable that this man's work has just been noticed after 25 years thanks to advancements in technology and this work predates every single bit of the rule 34 that we make fun of (and has basically become common practice in our culture) digital paleontology exists

I could care less about people that are into shittingdogdicknipples, it's the people that join unrelated communities and WON'T SHUT UP ABOUT SHITTINGDOGDICKNIPPLES. And then people like me wind up getting targeted. Like, damn, I'm into weird shit, but that's about all you'll hear about it from me unless it's on furry fetish sites and shit. Even then, I don't really bring it into real life, either.
Get furry friends who aren't also severe masturbation addicts then.
Literally impossible. I speak from experience.

Seemed like a decent home, and I met someone who really did change my life there. More I think on it though, I really do believe that the less visible you are about your fetish, the more control over it you have. Today I think I'd've bitch slapped my younger self a bit.

Then you get older and you realize it's not that simple. Fapping to furry shit doesn't define who you are on its own, it's just one part of a bigger picture. Of course some people never stop doing this. "Polygender omniqueer furdog hasbro chewtoy" isn't an identity, it's just a collection of labels. Doesn't mean shit.

There's been weird artists being into weird shit since forever. If you think the whole "buying custom niche porn from artists" thing is new and only appeared with the furry community (or that furries have the weirdest niche porn) you need to look up some of the crazy shit painters came up with in the past centuries.
A friend of mine sent me this video a few days ago and thought it was hilarious. Then I found his FA page and he actually still posts semi-frequently. But good lord some of the shit he posts are eerie as fuck. Also I can't imagine how old this guy must be now. [editline]30th April 2015[/editline] Oh, his FA says he's 48.
He's still around... somewhere. I couldn't find anything from him for the past 4 years or so but people are claiming to have talked to him recently so he's probably alive.
Oh, his FA says he's 48.
If he's legit been doing this since the 80's then according to the math he's been doing this since his early 20's. That doesn't seem surprising since well, look around you. There's apparently a lot of furries in their 20's.
This is super uncomfortable to watch.
One thing i have noticed is that people online seem to know about furries, but most people IRL don't seem to know what you're talking about if you mention furries.

I don't generally make it known how deeply...involved(?) I am with the internet..avoids stereotypes, and I don't trust myself to talk about furries without giving myself away.

I went to last years Anthrocon in Pittsburgh and saw male and female couples holding hands.
