As cute as they are, raccoons are rodents and can be very dangerous. A lot of them carry diseases, and if they bite you, they can transmit said diseases.
While he may not have done it in the best way possible, he's not in the wrong for doing it. He had to act fast to save his pet, and what other way could there have been? If you or a loved one is in immediate danger, your instincts kick in. You don't really have any time to think. If the raccoon dies, it's his/her own fault. One less rodent in the world.
Still was funny, though.

How did that raccoon not attack him at all? He's got some good raccoon handling techniques or something.

The Raccoon was under the dog when he finally grabed it, so confusion and not realizing what's happening?
:(
I laughed for like 10 minutes straight and then I saw the looped gifs and laughed even harder oh god my sides

Actually raccoons belong to the order Carnivora, not Rodentia.
Unlike most rodents they're extremely intelligent, are primarily carnivorous, and extremely dexterous with their hands. This also makes them more annoying pests because they're not nearly as easy to trap and can get into more of your shit.
That first throw was badass

Being genital with raccoons sure sounds dangerous
Damn, he chucked that little bugger. Serves the raccoon right.
I feel worse for that dog than any raccoon, ever.
I'd feel worse if he was genital with the raccoon.
Poor dog.
Man fuck raccoons.
Honestly I would have just jumped on the fucker until he couldn't move.
My dad's friend had a pet raccoon. He was pretty chill, he acted a lot like a cat but climbed on EVERYTHING.
That fucking corkscrew he did
Probably the second throw.
I understood the first, but the second seemed a little over the top. Not to mention seeing the things head getting slammed in to the ledge as it went tumbling in to the dark.
But I can sort of understand the second throw, had to ensure that the thing wasn't going to come back. [sp]Still, I would have just scared the thing off after tossing it down the first time.[/sp]
You're a moron, just saying.
Serves that bastard right.
You came to the wrong neighborhood mr. raccoon!

am I the only person here who read this post correctly?
I hate animal cruelty too but if there was a racoon clawing and biting my dog I would absolutely kick the fuck out of it
Cept its Australia and I'm not even sure we have racoons so I'm just on the watch for dog sized spiders and lizards

It's not like there's a shortage of them either. If it was endangered, would it have been a different story?
This man is also the founder of Digg.com if you didn't know
I always found it funny how digg faded into complete obscurity late last decade when somehow people started going to reddit instead, even though digg is by all accounts a much better designed website
probably because digg doesn't have sub-diggets or something

I imagine the racoons there are 10 feet long and have venom-tipped claws.

Did you mean 'genial'?
I imagine the racoons there are 10 feet long and have venom-tipped claws.
This is Australia we're talking about, it would have venom tipped everything.
