No wonder GLaDOS broke, with this guy around.
I call shenanigans.
No wonder GLaDOS broke, with this guy around.
And his atonal singing.
I didn't even watch that far. There should be no cuts in the middle of a level in a speedrun. Also since when can you shoot through elevator's door?
Segmented speedruns are not that uncommon.
It's like. Portal with ADHD
In order to attain the highest possible quality of play in a speedrun, the author usually has to look at and think about the game differently from the way that most casual gamers would. Generally, it is usually required that speedruns are planned out carefully before they are attempted; this need stems from the complexity of the separate areas in which the gameplay takes place. Additionally, games and their physics engines are not flawless and will allow the runner to do unexpected things that could save time. Despite their inherent differences, they seem to share a lot of common traits in this context, such as the ability to disjunct the common sequence of events in a game and thus skip entire parts of it—the act of sequence breaking—and the ability to use programming errors, or glitches, to one's advantage.
From Wikipedia I'm pretty sure it's generally accepted that you're allowed to glitch in order to complete a speedrun.
While some speedrun rules require that the skipping of such events be avoided, it is often desirable—connate with the act of route planning—to make full use of such possibilities.
So yeah some sites or people won't like that, but most will.
To anyone that thinks stuff like 3:04 is a cut, that's actually a bug. It pushes you through the wall.
Apparently a lot of people in here don't know what's going on...
Regardless of if you think this guy is arrogant or that you think speedruns shouldn't use glitches, this guy has skill. In some of the videos where he is talking about how he does it, it's very obvious that what he's doing is very difficult.
I call shenanigans.
Watch a few of the videos on how he does it. He admits that he does a whole ton of takes. It is in no way one run through.
That's impressive. Wonder how long it took him to practice that... Also, his cover at the end wasn't that bad either.
Well, he used glitches all the way through, really removes some of it's value. He also used editing software so he didn't really speedrun it, he edited in his best times for each level. Also, i don't understand how he get's lift at 6:01..
he edited in his best times for each level.
No shit, this isn't a single segment run...
Also, i don't understand how he get's lift at 6:01..
I believe a button lifts up right there, so he stood on it.
Portal Gun skin Backwards bunny hopping Disregard video is bullshit
Portal Gun skin Backwards bunny hopping Disregard video is bullshit
How is the video bullshit?
I laughed when the claw collided with the companion cube trying to put the cake out.
How is the video bullshit?
Because any douchecunt whose played Portal long enough knows how to do this nonsense. In all the contests that were held for fastest Portal time anyone doing so was disqualified.
That Portal Gun skin was pretty pathetic.
technically i'd say this isn't the fastest speedrun of portal considering it took him over two years to complete :v:
Holy fuck, at 9:00 he kicks it into high gear and warps into another goddamn dimension. [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
That Portal Gun skin was pretty pathetic.
it was so people couldn't steal the video and claim they did the speedrun how pathetic he tried to protect his video with something better than just a watermark what a douche
I just realized the robot that carries you away in the end is the tall one in co-op in portal 2
No shit, this isn't a single segment run...
I guess i was trying to get at the fact that it wasn't a speedrun, and he couldn't do it like this all in one go.
I thought the personal skin was an awesome idea, and didn't even realize it was to protect what was his, I just laughed until I cried when I saw it
The skin wasn't made by him, somebody gave it to him as a 'gift' of sorts and he left it on as a watermark.
I guess i was trying to get at the fact that it wasn't a speedrun, and he couldn't do it like this all in one go.
This IS a speed run, it's just in multiple segments and not a single segment...
Time to beat Portal 2 in 10 minutes, if it ever comes out.
This guy does seem like kind of a toolbox
This grinds my gears, he used glitches I expected someone playing the game without warping threw walls and shit. (His skin makes me rage)
This grinds my gears, he used glitches I expected someone playing the game without warping threw walls and shit. (His skin makes me rage)
9/10 speedruns use a shitton of glitches.
is he a wizard?
I still think its an accomplishment for figuring out all those glitches.
