I deal with post-SSRI sexual dysfunction and it sucks

that's not really a problem with the drugs themselves however, it's a case of overzealous prescribing.
look at it like antibiotics. you could argue that the widespread use of antibiotics in western medicine has dramatically increased the number of resistant bacteria, or 'superbugs'. However antibiotics are very useful and it'd be dumb to stop using them, we shouldn't be saying "antibiotics cause superbugs so they are all bad" we should be saying "overuse of antibiotics is bad"
just as with antibiotics, antidepressants are very useful, in some circumstances. It's a mistake to dismiss them.
you really can't bash people on anti-depressants unless you've actually overcome clinical depression on your own, it's pretty fucking tough to do.
my doctor just started me on an SSRI 4 days ago. this is concerning.
just to add, i'm not a 'pull yourself together you cunt' type of man, depression is very real. but as you said firerain, overzealous prescribing does more harm than good and can change people who aren't in need. research needs to be done into depression diagnosis.
i went to the doctors because i couldn't sleep. she tried to give me a script for citalopram without asking any other questions. ok.
well they've never fixed anyone i know.
most are half psychotic, on the sick and half their diet consists of multicoloured pills. yes the theory is sound but i just don't think you can take them then forget about them, you'll always rely on it.
Wow man, that must be a horrific nightmare Master117, not being able to feel any physical pleasure. Still, at least you don't feel as much physical pain in general, right? Pain is kind of a limiter of physical strength, and if you can push past pain, you can lift things that painful strain would prevent you from picking up. You still have your physical limitations, but you can probably still do things that ordinary people wouldn't be able to because of pain's limitations, which puts you at a fair advantage in that area.
Always look on the bright side, at least you're less susceptible to pain. It's probably not equal compensation, but it's still better than having permanently numb genitals and normal pain susceptability everywhere else. Still, perhaps in a few decades there'll be a remedy for your condition, so take heart in the fact that the future may hold a cure, even if it'll likely be expensive.
The only thing worse that can happen to your penis is either dick cancer or getting it forcefully removed.
hi firerain, but i have my own opinions, you may not agree with them but i don't believe most of these drugs work.
so you dont believe fact and scientific research, i cant remember the researcher but he proved they do work by giving people suffering with anxiety a real drug and a placebo and the real drug had a positive affect

Except that pain is a really, really good thing. Not when you stub your toe, but as other indicators of pain. I remember reading this journal by a girl who couldn't feel pain, and it sounded absolutely fucking horrible.
haha fuck are you serious.
you're fucking nuts if you think taking benzos is a good idea for anxiety. 14 days on alprazolam or diazepam etc will get you a nice habit.
I never said you wouldn't get addicted - nice strawman there.
They are good for anxiety. Prove to me they are not?
[editline]21st April 2011[/editline]
And the strawman about addiction was especially contemptible because I said 'in moderation'.

I agree with that, they want to hand out anti-depressants like candy, signing the script with their Pfizer pen.

yes and the other 12+ threads about OP's problems, oh boy

Congenital insensitivity to pain:
"She started cutting teeth and she had bit down through the skin. She would have bit down to the bone had I let her. It was just chewed up," Trish Gingras said.
"We decided to pull her teeth because she was mutilating her fingers," Steve Gingras said.
Learning to walk just made Gabby more vulnerable. By the time she was 2½, she had been injured and hospitalized multiple times. At age 2, Gabby broke her jaw and didn't know it until infection caused a fever. To treat the infection, she had to be on an IV medication for six weeks.
Her eyes were especially at risk.
"You'd look away for one second, you'd look back and she'd have her fingers in her eye," Steve Gingras said. "You're watching your child go blind right in front of you."
Her desperate parents tried restraints and then goggles. But by the time Gabby was 4, she needed to have her left eye removed. Her right eye was also damaged, and she wears a lens over it to help her see better. Although Gabby is legally blind with 20/200 eyesight, she can still see shapes.
Obviously not as bad when it's after you've learned not to chew your fucking fingers off, but still.

That's only because he had a drug test that day.
Oh for fucks sake
I was on Lovan for a year and a half. Guess what

I wasn't warned of any chance of getting this, but I have a few of those symptoms.
Thanks OP, you just got my states health system a nice little lawsuit.

Yeah but that's someone born without pain, plus the drugs mentioned only dulled it, not stopped it completely.

True, but would you trade sex for dulled pain?

Unfortunately the pharmaceutical profession has had decades to protect itself against lawsuits so the response will be "well, you shoulda read the side effects box" or "well it's better than you killing yourself, you unreliable suicide teen".
What sex?
The sex you will most likely have at some point in your life.
otherwise you might as well :psyboom: from the sadness
Not sure. I'm not a doctor. This drug dealer I know is telling me to take ecstasy.
Hate to say it but that's along the right lines. Ecstasy does boost libido if I remember right. Though it's also a minor carcinogen, psychedelic and illegal, so in no way a long-term fix. I'd go to the doctor as opposed to that.

I wasn't told about this but I asked mum and she remembers quite clearly that they said Lovan had no continuing side effects after use stops.
I wasn't even a teen when I started either, I was 12 and still thought you re spawned somewhere when you died like in halo.
It was Queensland child and youth mental health btw.

So you're telling me to commit suicide now? Quite ironic considering we were talking about anti depressants :v:?

You should definitely talk to your solicitor about that, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Doctors are pricks.

No, take out life insurance with as many companies possible and share the payout with facepunch, of course.
(you can fake your death, you'll get many women with the insurance money)
