bans are your warning, now you know not to make shitty puns whats the problem
bans are your warning, now you know not to make shitty puns whats the problem
Are you guys incapable of reading and basic comprehension? I'm criticizing the easily overlooked method used for instating the new rule. All I'm saying is that the large amounts of bans could be avoided by using a more noticeable method. There should not be so many people being banned for simply not knowing. In the future it would make more sense to use the announcement method. That way it'd save the mods the trouble of banning a slew of people and that way there would be no excuse for not knowing about the new rule.
whats the point of nitpicking the way they implement a rule, it doesn't even effect you [editline]21st April 2012[/editline] theres been like 5 pun bans total since the rule was made, its such a minor issue
whats the point of nitpicking the way they implement a rule, it doesn't even effect you
It affects other members. I'm making a suggestion so that in the future bans can be avoided and people can know instantly instead of this mediocre sticky method which can easily be overlooked. I think it reflects really poorly on the forum when so many people are being banned for something they were oblivious to.
your suggestion has been accounted for, thank you for your participation, it truly means a lot to us! we will get back to you as soon as possible.
it affects members who deserve to be banned
it affects members who deserve to be banned
You are a veritable pantheon of quality posts, Sanius. You're focusing on the members rather than the fact they were oblivious. Like I said, I'm just suggesting that in the future when a major rule change is made that the mods should make an announcement instead. The current method is incredibly easy to miss and there's almost no reason to use it when a simple announcement could be made. It gets the point across, and then you don't have people in the RC completely oblivious as to why they were banned. I'd appreciate it if you made more constructive posts rather than "don't make shitty posts and you won't have to worry about being banned, problem solved" which is the epitome of irony coming from you.

Well, my apologies then. I assumed you guys would be open to suggestions. I really do find it inexcusable that so many people were banned due to their lack of knowledge on the rule change. Seriously, when you have that many people being banned over a rule change you know there is a problem with the handling of the system. I suggested an announcement for future major changes, because that would alleviate a large portion of the people who didn't notice the sticky change. Quite frankly, the sticky was easy to miss. An announcement would take literally five seconds to read and then "x" away. I'm also surprised at how many of you guys jumped on the members rather than my main point, the method. I hate puns as much as the next guy, as well as those awful jokes, but there's something wrong when so many people are banned over something like this.
i wonder how many paragraphs you are going to write until you realize nobody is listening
Lovely. I hope some moderators at least looked at my suggestion and will at least take it into account. I'm just trying to help. The current method seems pretty inefficient to me and I'd like to make suggestions to help fix the "broken" method. Well, it's broken in my opinion. There should not be so many members posting the RC about how they didn't know puns were against the rules. Anyways, I'm done. You guys clearly don't care.
took you long enough to realize
hmmm if i go out and drink and drive and get pulled over, is the "bububut, i didnt know it was illegal officer" a defense? nope why should facepunch be any different
big words make me smart
Looks like a few people ate that right up too.
There's a grace period for all of you to notice the rules sticky got updated. There's plenty of time for you to take a look at the title and see if it changed. That's our rule- CHECK THE FUCKING RULES STICKY EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE

You guys clearly don't care.
I really have no idea what you're getting worked up about. So what if a few people need a half-day ban to bring their attention to the rules? Who cares how many people get banned? The more people get banned, the more people know that the rule exists, so I expect it will naturally die down over time. The only people who should care at all are the mods who have to dish the bans out, it's not like people are getting banned for a week or more. I could understand your concern if people were getting banned for a long time, just because they didn't know about a new rule, but the 12 hour ban is nothing more than a slap on the wrist: "You didn't know about the rule? You do now." If the mods are getting tired of banning people (for one thing they're moderating the wrong forum) then they need to do something about it.
Somehow I feel that people are going make puns anyway, probably not as much though. I mean, most people on Fp see a "ban" as kind of a game anyway.
Well, called it.
Well, called it.
it'll be a lovely game right up until the permaban and inevitably hilarious RC thread.
It's not like the world is going down when you get banned.
Blue members cannot see the notification that a post has been deleted. However it should still make the thread bold regardless until first viewed. You're probably well aware of this fact already, but I figured I would clarify for anyone that may not already know. Similar to how the last poster for the GD rules is hexxeh, yet blue members cannot see his post.
My point was that a new post had been made when the rule came into effect. That he later deleted the post and edited it in, in the op had nothing to do with it.
FWIW it says I posted last in that thread because I was testing some FPAPI app stuff, and a bug in the app meant that when I posted a reply, it posted the reply to every thread I'd read since I started the app. Since I was using the rules thread as a fast example to load, this was one of the once that got posted to. It shows I posted last because technically, I did, I just deleted my post.
Why does it show up that I'm using linux when I'm browsing with opera on my phone? Using android 4.0.4 by the way.

Can we post basic HTML stuff here? I have a spreadsheet that I may want to post and i have it in HTML format.
HTML is a terrible idea full of security issues no

Not a question but I noticed that if a post has a lot of different ratings and I hover with my mouse on the post the ratings gets nocked away below the post. I can't post images because it's my fathers 10" laptop and it's running ubuntu and I have no idea where to check resolution.

Can we get featured threads back? They were pretty cool, though I didn't even notice when they disappeared :v:
