Why is garry blocking imgur? Doesn't do anything to help resolves it. It reminds me when two people are fighting on facebook and one person blocks the other, and the only thing the other person does is go block them in hopes it makes them look like the bigger person (it doesn't).

What I am saying is that posters should not be punished (banned) for posting puns in a thread that is cohesive to a pun environment. What is the harm in puns, honestly? They can't hurt you, they aren't mean-spirited (most of the time) and they create a fun environment. My argument isn't that "we need puns to make shit threads last longer", my argument is simply that posters shouldn't be banned for wordsmithing.

Not just puns, but making a joke that looked like a pun. From that point on the thread basically disintegrated into the largest ban-fest I have personally seen. Just from one pun, twenty-three people got banned.

Is it even worse than that thread about a burning couch (I think) and where almost the entire first page and more got banned for sniping?

You guys seriously need to shut the fuck up about the no-pun rule. It's derailing the thread and it's stupid. If you want it to change it so bad, bitching about it to the mods won't change it in your favor, in fact it might do the exact opposite. Just look at the avatar size incident.

Don't make it "All puns are punishable by banishment". All or nothing rules are silly, and the same thing applies with the pun rule. I don't care if one idiot gets banned for posting the same pun as someone else, he should have read the thread. However, if someone actually has a pun that they made up, regardless of how obvious it is, they should be allowed to post it.

If it weren't for Imgur having those features already, I would've used Horobox over it from the beginning. At the moment I generally only use Horobox when Imgur is down or when I'm uploading images that are too big for Imgur to deal with. (Such as a couple of really large gifs and some other large images.)

I was pretty happy when imgur was blocked because it stopped the stupid ranting about puns/no puns thanks for bringing it full circle guys

puu.sh used to be so obscure :v: now they're gonna eventually have bandwidth issues I bet

Blocking it to stop people from unknowingly posting broken images is fair enough, but couldn't that be done in some way which only effects new posts rather than rendering thousands of threads imageless for everyone as opposed to some people (Since it was fixable and didn't actually block for everybody for whatever reason)?

Someone'll probably write a script to just change the stuff with 13 *s into imgur links and it'll all be settled if imgur reverts
