It's because some people shitpost the second they get gold because they think "omg gmf shitpost everywhere lololol" and as a result most golds hate the newer golds because of those people

The first couple of posts will read like they should be filled with winks and elbow nudges as the new gold member tries to establish himself in the social hierarchy as a flippin' hilarious new bloke, but they quickly dissolve into angry, defensive shitposts as they realize that their plan is totally back-firing. From there, it's usually a pretty slippery slope, because hardly anybody quits while they're ahead. The best way to "fit in" with the goldmember forum is to not treat it like it's any other forum. If you've got something to contribute, post. If not? Don't. If you totally botch things up by trying to make a grand entrance, everybody's gonna think you're a ponce, but even then you're okay as long as don't continue to act as such. That's where the perceived dislike for cash4gold users comes from. Nobody should even have to say this stuff, because it's just common social sense, but it still seems to give an awful lot of boostars a hard time.

You won't have to avoid posting there if you don't act like a socially inept dork! I don't get why this gives people such a hard time. I have to imagine them sitting there, in front of their computer, and consciously thinking to themselves, "Well, I absolutely refuse to act like a normal human being and talk about things without resorting to off-the-wall randumb jokes and awkward attempts at hazing in a blind attempt to fit in, so I guess my only option is to just leave the forum forever."

I just don't post in the GMF. I don't get most of the humor, and I don't really care about it much anyway. I just read it occasionally and forget it's there the rest of the time.

GMF is far from normal. Its one giant circle jerk between regulars and when someone tries to force themselves into the circle they of course regard them with hatred. Not to say a lot of new golds don't deserve it, but the obviousness of the "GOLD CLIQUE" is fucking painful to behold. Also, don't have any opinions that aren't readily accepted by the golds, or you become mr apple.

If you look up, you'll notice a user who has done all of the things that BDA's GMF guide said not to.

Not for me at all." ... And never went back. Though the workshop doesn't look as bad. What BDA said kind of makes sense because I uhh... I kinda did that when I first joined Facepunch in the first place. First thread/post had a meme and was stupidly worded because I had no clue how to post, because the last forum I was on was Gaia Online (haha) but I had quit about 2 years prior to joining FP. That first thread got me a ban and an extended ban! Upon retrospect I think I should have followed the golden words of; "Lurk before you post."

there isn't some long list of people who aren't allowed to post in the gmf if you just post like a normal human being, most of the time you will be treated like a normal human being it's only when you start posting like a massive idiot that things start to elevate
