They're an affront to the forum and a smooth browsing experience in general. Avatars and all those little icons also apply. Some of those are so obnoxious, and, if I had any say in it, I'd get rid of this posting feature. It sounds like it takes up tons of resources.

Nah man, posting is fine; it only adds a record to the DB using an insert statment. What I'd get rid of is listing posts and threads; it has to query a whole table. My forum would just have a box where you type in a post number and it retrieves that post. If you don't know what post number you're looking for, tough shit.

Is the read function not working for anybody else?
I mean it works, but it doesn't show new posts, for example for this thread it would say something along the lines of 200 new posts when in reality I have read all of them.

Nope, working fine for me. I know a couple of times I'll make a post that will get shunted to a new page and all the replies that ninja'd me on the previous page would show up as unread for a while.

If you're still having trouble with it I'd suggest marking every thread as unread and then opening them at the last page again - hopefully that should fix it up for you, otherwise I'm not sure.

nah they were just disabled due to slithersoul bitching about the caching issues, and it was for a day, then he put them back at 64x64.
