Why did the profile thingy accept my avatar but not animate it? It's a gif and I thought golds could have gifs as avatars.

If vbulletin automatically re-sizes the dimensions for you, it wont be animated.
It'd be cool if we could get some more moderation in the modelling section, there are a lots of bumps and shitty model requests at the moment
or at least a sticky or something
-snip- answered higher on the page
Oh, the Gold forums not being there for you would cause that...
But it should be there, I'm not gold yet I can see the gold forum. Clearing the cache/cookies should help.
What's goin on here?

I can foresee this being the next thing people continually asking about despite the answer just being a few posts above. When 300 or more users starts viewing the subforum, it turns red.
EDIT: Edited OP.
Im alright with the new changes to the models section, though i still think there should be a release section for downloads, so it seperated from work-in-progress stuff and requests, but hey, thats just me.
I assume it was put in valve games and mods so it can include non-garrysmod models, right?

At least Facepunch can count beyond 300, unlike youtube.

You sure about that?
You sure about that?
I think he wasn't referencing intelligence but more-so the bug that Youtube has when a video gains a large amount of views it gets stuck at around 300 for about a day or so.

There's a reason for that.
Anyways, I actually like the new changes. Nice and even.
Why was the lua scripting forum merged with all the subforums?
Why was the lua scripting forum merged with all the subforums?
Garry decided to move them.
Im not sure if this entirely related, but it is some sort of community thing: I want to know what's up with people bashing people who want playermodels? I actually experienced this about a year ago, I was trying to rig something to a player-model-compatible skeleton and was rated dumb in all and any posts. Might I ask what pisses people off in player models? I am asking now since it seems the "issue" still persists, I saw a thread and people kept being unfriendly towards the op who wanted a playermodel.

What was it a playermodel of? That could change everything.
Also, try not to take ratings seriously.

Alright. Well, for what I was experimenting around with once it was medic from team fortress 2. For what I possibly still want to rig, Hawke from Dragon Age 2. For what was in that thread I saw recently, this for instance: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1194477 and this http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1196397.
I quote "This thread is going nowhere :D
Much like most Playermodel threads"

The first person there was asking for other people to search for them, signed his posts at some points, and had pretty poor English. It's a combination that was asking for people to react poorly here.
The second guy I'm not sure why he got such a poor reaction. It seems like it would be a pretty popular player model, and I know it's not impossible, since there's a Zelda playermodel.
Usually the reason that these threads fail and people are harassed is that they (like the first thread there's OP) want to have someone else do the work for them with nothing in return, and have no idea how difficult it is to create content.

Very simple - it's generally a lot of work for very little return and you have people asking about playermodels all the times and constantly requesting people make models with incompatible skeletons to playermodels.
After a while people just get tired of all of those folks and just sort of say FU!
It's essentially the same reason why people get tired of people demanding sweps.
I'm a regular in the modelling section and from what I can gather, people tend to look down on player models as if they do not require any significant skills to create and they amount to nothing, except making the player take the form of a model.
There's also a lot of stigma around asking for playermodels for the same reason above in ragdoll model releases. It would require the author to apply the valve biped to a model with a custom biped (can take time and could be annoying), and getting 4-5 of these poorly executed requests in your polished release thread could get annoying to some.
I personally don't care, since I ignore those who ask :v:

Yes I've been making many dumb posts lately.
The whole move is silly, now the whole lua section is a huge fucking mess.
Finding binary modules in a few seconds is impossible now, the whole main section will be spammed with shit threads.
[editline]11th July 2012[/editline]
The binary modules section for example was more of an archive rather than a subforum, and now it's impossible to find anything due to ~500 pages, you could have atleast deleted all the question threads since most of them were either solved or dumb anways.
Block search for us, then scramble the forums up beyond recognition.
Obviously trying to get us blue members to buy gold.
Edit: Better?

This isn't 4chan, so you should stop greentexting.

I don't see how your last point has to do with buying gold.
I'm personally rather confused as to why they condensed the models section. I thought the prerelease, release, and request sections were quite fine. Now its a jumbled mess of releaseohwaitnotreleasedstillworkingonit and heycanyoumakethismodelformewherecanIfindthismodelIwantthisasaplayermodel?
I don't see how your last point has to do with buying gold.
I think he's saying that Garry purposely "scrambeled the forums up beyond recognition" just so he could be extra mean to all those pesky blues which are obviously forced to buy Gold Member because it's all a ploy to make more money.
Seriously though, Garry isn't trying to make loads of dosh by disabling search for blues, it's a necessity after the Sethhack attacks. I'm also amazed how little people seem to know about the 'Read threads' function, it's just way easier than searching for your own posts and it still works.

It doesn't make him make more money anyways. 50% of the store proceeds go to the mods. The other 50% goes towards FP's server costs. Garry pockets none of it.
And here I was thinking I was filling up Garry's pockets :(
And here I was thinking I was filling up Garry's pockets :(
IIRC, Garry is already quite rich. Garry's Mod is rather successful, after all.
My browser freezes up whenever I open a thread in the news node. What's with that?
