As for 'not news' articles, if it's on a news site, it's news. That does not include 'news' sources like infowars and the like, however. Also, the intent with which someone made a thread doesn't make it any less news unless he/she altered the content of the article or posted a bad source. Basically, there's no solid metric of judging whether or not something is 'news' so long as it's not obviously false or incredibly dubious (that is, lacking in any facts what so ever).
