i did this with some asshole i know in IRL who said almost the exact same thing to me.
since you think making a techno song takes no talent and "real music" is harder, i have an assignment.
make me a techno song. it has to be 2 minutes minimum. must have a bassline, melody for synth, some sort of background ambiance, and a drop.
rules
:d: you cannot use pre-made use loops
:d: everything about your song must be original. No re-creating other songs
:d: you cannot use garage band.
if you can do this within a week, you have proven to me that making a techno song is easy and talentless.
This is totally flawed. Some songwriters write some of their best songs in one day. That applies to nearly any genre. Including classical.

How many complete a song in one day?
Most EDM producers spend quite a lot of time producing a track.
Op is wrong, I really really like rock/ metal music and probably know more about it and enjoy it more than Guy Mannly yet every once and a while I need a break and like to listen to something else besides rock. If we only had one type of music in the world than we would get tired of it. All sorts of different music is created for us to enjoy, just because you like something doesn't mean everyone does. Anyone who thinks so is an idiot. Kind of like this guy. Think about it this way, food is kinda like music, you like certain foods and other people like other foods. If you were limited to a certain food because the majority liked that food than you would eventually become sick of it because there are no choices. Unlike everyone's history we have been limited on what music foods and what ever we did was limited. Now in modern time we have been given so much freedom we can listen to what we want, eat what we want, go wherever we want, for the most part. Why the fuck do people want to take our freedoms away????
Enjoy your choices in music, celebrate the music you listen to. Saying yours is better is ignorant. I have do this before, but what I realised, If everyone liked the same exact thing, Our world would suck. It really would, think about that before posting a new thread you dumbfuck.
Yeah you can. :colbert:
If you think DJing is easier than guitar that just means you're better at playing guitar
How many complete a song in one day?
i've written and completed songs in under 3 hours
if you have the motivation and the inspiration, you can complete a song in a short amount of time
OP listens to jimi hendrix without actually listening to jimi hendrix.
OP listens to jimi hendrix without actually listening to jimi hendrix.
OP listens to all of 5 songs by jimi hendrix
i called it first
Way to have an opinion. No one cares.
The Non-Techno is a lie?
Music section?

I've also written and completed songs in under 3 hours.
But those songs never got attention from a major label or brought me any success at the indie level.
I'm sure you also did not mix and master the song as well.
:derp:
lol "real music", way to be biased. I listen to and enjoy both.
The only rock song I've ever liked was The Final Countdown by Europe.
Yeah.
I prefer electronic music, but I agree the OP is being a fool
'techno' expands into many sub genres, how about industrial?

DnB?

I prefer this:

Pretty sure industrial is not a subgenre of techno.
Pretty sure industrial is not a subgenre of techno.
I am sure of that too, but I meant that there would be variations
and I made a mistake, it was something else, or rather, post-industrial
Post-industrial music is an umbrella term for a variety of new music genres that emerged in the early 1980s, all of which blended elements of varying styles with the then new genre of industrial music. "Industrial" had first been applied to music in the mid-1970s by the Industrial Records label artists. Since then, a number of labels and artists have come to be called "industrial".[1] These offshoots include fusions with noise music, ambient music, folk music, and electronic dance music, as well as other mutations and developments.
I don't think it matters how hard the music is to make. People can put a lot of work into crappy music.
He was all like "Lol Techno is really hard to make because it takes years to master the art of being a DJ".
Fuck me!
Producing != DJ'ing. Your friend is an idiot. DJ'ing is also a lot of skill, take a look at this video:

Lets check out the origanality of rock and popular music.

It's pretty much impossible and stupid to compare the level of technicality needed for live music and electronic music. They need very different kinds of skills.
"Lol Techno is really hard to make because it takes years to master the art of being a DJ"
It does take years.
However DJing =/= producing.
Dubstep, Nuff said.
Hopefully it will never go mainstream, thats what makes it awesome at the moment
This tune is epic.
OP listens to all of 5 songs by jimi hendrix

so you only listen to it because it's not mainstream?
[editline]15th October 2010[/editline]
wow
Real Music vs Rap
Real Music vs Contry
Real Music vs Genre(s) I don't like
I can do it too!
atleast the OP is listening to some real music.
I have everything in my playlist, thou lately I have been listening estonian songs ( 70-90 period )
And THAT shit is tame!
Its all about the filthiness of the tune, some of them are so crazy you can't even listen to them.
The stuff you posted is exactly the sort of crap that would be made if it went mainstream. It would ruin it.
fuck da system~
Techno is good if it doesn't have someones voice slammed through a high-pitch voice changer on top.
Say, stuff from ten years ago.
