To me techno is literally the same beat in different tones
Like Dubstep, it sounds good and the drop is good, but then 15 seconds after the drop you realize it's the same fucking thing
[editline]13th October 2010[/editline]
Even Daft Punk does the same beat x 100000 in some songs
Daft Punk is okay, Dubstep is a good genre. Techno IS the same beat actually. Trance is my favorite type of digitalized music in my opinion.

Flux Pavilion is pretty cool.
I hate when people call the oldies "real music". Ask your parents and I'm sure they'll talk about how their parents complained how rock music wasn't real music. Your just too ignorant to understand.
I had a discussion with my friend the other day about Techno and rock music. He's a Techno lover and i enjoy Jimmy Hendrix. He was all like "Lol Techno is really hard to make because it takes years to master the art of being a DJ". Oh dear god! I said he should wake up and realise that playing bass, drums and guitars is actually harder to learn than a freakin DJ. So what do you guys think of this? :P
No spelling rating. Why did I not notice this before :O
A++ thread, would read again.
Techno is real music, as much as Rock, metal, folk, jazz whatever.
This is variety:
For you with spotify, this is my starred:

For you poor guys without spotify, this is how my list looks:

It might be mostly metal/rock, but I still like techno and such.
This thread is dumb, get bent.
Wait, so a bunch of western popular music by Americans and Europeans is variety now?
Man, my mind is blown.

It annoys me when people have libraries full of singles instead of albums.

To him, Yes he does like techno because that's what his view of techno is. Stop trying to get people to think as you do.

But yeah OP, I just want to say this:

And now that we've got that point across, listen to these two.
One of my favourite songs in the electronic genre barring the next one.

This is E.V.A. this is as true electronica as you can get, from 1968.
Techno isn't music, it's just some sounds and vocals repeated fifty times each minute
you mean commerial dance for the vocals
proper techno rarely features vocals, though you've got the some sounds part right but that's the brilliant part about the genre, you can lose yourself in it all night.
Techno, and electronic music in general, is a very flexible medium where artists can explore musical ideas which would be impossible or impractical in real life - even if it does not take any kind of instrumental skill to produce. I respect that.
I still don't like it though. The vast majority of techno is stuff you could make within ten minutes on garage band, and the genre constantly exploits awful sounding cliches.
Wait, so a bunch of western popular music by Americans and Europeans is variety now?

That's variety for me. Not the same band for the next ~60 min, then another band for ~60 min or so. And I don't give a fuck what music is modern or popular when and where, I choose what music I'm listening to, and don't care if I'm hated for it.
It annoys me when people have libraries full of singles instead of albums.
Yeah, but not every song in an album is good. Like for me, I pick the songs after listening to the whole album several times.
Yeah, but not every song in an album is good. Like for me, I pick the songs after listening to the whole album several times.
Not listening to the whole album is like bitch-slapping the artist. :colbert:

Lack of innovation happens in every genre.

There's a guy in my year who only listens to what's in the charts and calls anything that wasn't released this year "out-dated shit" and he refuses to offer any reason as to why he doesn't like a particular songi t makes me want to punch him in his smug fucking face.
What the hell is this horseshit. Techno is legit music, most sucks, but most other sub-genres of electronic music are amazing. Ambient, Experimental, House, Industrial, Breakbeat, all that shit is great.

Thing is he's not just trying to be a dick, it's actually what he thinks
"Genre X versus genre Y" -arguing is fucking stupid.

I just think it's hilarious you're trying to pretend you're so superior for listening to, when you actually analyze the structure and composition, what amounts to the same music over and over again.

Isn't EDM supposed to be repetitive by design? I thought it makes it easier to dance to.

Their first album was great. It makes up for the bad albums.

yep exactly. The clue is in the name. Dance music
Are you implying that techno isnt really music? How is it possible for fake music to exist in the first place?
Stop calling electronic music techno or electronica. They're both horribly wrong.
