Get to know her, let her know about you, try to win some of her over in the first date and maybe ask her for a second date later on and try win some more of her over. I need some advice. Sorry for the wall of text, but I need to explain it properly.
A friend of mine had a traumatic experience yesterday. In short: she had been living with her boyfriend, who seemed like an amazing guy, but he very suddenly turned out to be a complete shit and was threatening her. She was fucking terrified and didn't know what to do.
She phoned me, I helped her out, drove her to her mothers house and sat comforting her until her mum came home. I just considered it something a friend would do.
No big deal for me, seriously big deal for her.
I got a text from her a few minutes ago, saying that her mum's out until late and would I like to come over so that she can thank me for yesterday.
I texted back saying that she doesn't need to thank me, but of course I'll go and see her.
She got back again, said I was her hero and that she'd do anything to show her appreciation.
In any other situation I'd definitely take her up on the "do anything" offer. Maybe I'm just a terrible person and I'm reading too much into it, but if it was any other situation I'd assume that she was implying some thankyou sex. The problem is that I'm pretty sure that she couldn't have just got over what happened yesterday, literally overnight. She was a wreck about 30 hours ago, I could easily imagine that she still doesn't really know what she wants. Right now she might want a quick fuck with someone she doesn't really have feelings for, but I think one, or more likely both of us will regret it later. I'd definitely feel that I'd taken advantage of an emotionally unstable girl.
Do any of you have any tips for how I should handle the situation?
Like I said, I may just be a terrible person and she might have meant "I'll cook anything"

For anybody interested, last night turned out fine.
She was just a bit mixed up. She needed me to be a teddy bear, but didn't really know how to ask me. Apparently her thought process was "He's a man, how do I get a man to do what I want? Offer him some pussy, obviously. Will that be awkward? um.. I'll sort it out when he gets here."

Yes she was offering thankyou sex, but from what I could gather she just went a bit crazy. The way she explained it, was that she wanted to see me again, but suddenly thought that I wouldn't want to see her and that she'd be alone. She panicked and just wrote the first thing she thought would get me to come. By the time I'd got there, she'd calmed down and was able to explain.
I don't think we've got any real attraction for each other. I'm quite level-headed and boring, she tends to throw emotions around and annoy people. She annoys me and I bore her.
The last couple of days were a bit different to the norm. She needs somebody level-headed and quiet to calm her down. Who knows, the future may be different. We've definitely got closer.

That happened to me too. Minus the long distance part and the over-reaction to them. If you're girlfriend thinks their just friend, then they aren't going to get anywhere with her short of rape. It's when she starts acknowledging that they're romantic possibilities, not friends, and still keeps them around that you should worry.

You are probably right, I am not the kind of guy who attacks people. But I reckon that was not enough of an hardass and I always said to my girlfriend that she should just leave them, they have no chance. I feel your pain man, when some douchebag is touching your girlfriend in an obvious sexual manner, but your girlfriend isn't picking up on it (thinking it's something innocent), it sucks.
