I wondered something about the facepunch community. Usually facepunchers are portrayeed as virgins and socially inept. Well, I think it is kind of a superficial statement and does not apply.
But I often read, especially here that people discuss sexual practices and other thematics like relationship, one night stands or a similiar subject.
My theory is that facepunch was created many years ago and that the majority of the members originate from the early beginning. These basemembers where quite young and well grew up after all this years. So they are confronted with such topics, so this statement should not really apply anymore. Seeing as a lot of the members are more mature and such. The new members that joined a lot later are only a minority or perma'd users from the beginning.
Although this could be entirely wrong, but I was always interested in that particular topic. FP as a community of virigins and unsocial retards.
What do you guys think :v: I might look to deep into this.
I'm not so sure if it's the original members growing up so much as FP has all kinds of different people posting here and a wide userbase, all sharing the common interest of gmod. It's more likely that a virgin/social retard would visit a videogame forum, but all kinds of people play games.

when i joined this forum i was way younger and spent a lot of my spare time making stuff in GMOD, nowadays i hardly touch gmod or any videogame really.
i don't know enough about forums to go anywhere else, and reddit and 4chan seem like big shitholes to me.
Well your case applies to me, I played Gmod a lot with friends and I always checked the new mods. Then I discovered all the different topics and sections. I really like facepunch because of it's wide variety of topics and different members from all kinds of nations and with experience in different matters. Makes it quite interesting.
Also you get the newest stuff always presented to you in a nice way.

like a few others had said, we certainly do disagree on things. we just don't get worked up over things or take them out on each other. when we disagree, instead of assuming the other person is wrong/stupid for feeling differently and starting an argument about it, we try to see from the other's perspective and explain our own. we've never had a discussion where we couldn't come to an understanding on something.

It is actually interesting to see how the community evolves, no need to be aggressive. It is not really futile, statistics and analyizing stuff is quite fun.

None of our arguments were yelling and stuff like that...
The first one is when I had said something mildly offensive in another class and she heard about it. I tried explaining to her that i didn't mean it seriously (it has to do with the middle east) and it blew over the next day or so.
The next one was like two weeks later when I was being advised to not talk to her and that she is probably trying to manipulate me and what not. So I told her all i wanted was sex and she got mad and we exchanged blows and then went our own ways... Until a few days later when i apologized and told her that i was lying and why i said what i said. Since then (i think) we have leveled and understand each other more now.
arguing doesn't just mean screaming and being mean to each other
you can have very mature arguments

I joined to advertise one of my gmod communities and came back later
I rarely play games anymore at all though I just scroll through pages while watching TV shows or playing music
But you're right, the people in threads like these and other sections of the forums have lives, which you can tell because they don't sit around posting the meme shit or whatever like some other sections do (lamo pics)
apart from those few sections I generally find this forum to be high quality and fun to post in, except for a tendency to get very sanctimonious about certain topics that make shit all sense

I argue a lot with my girlfriend, often because of jealousy. She is really a jealous person when it comes to other girls. I never plan on messing around with another girl but she always insists and so on. The thing is that I am a more liberal person in that matter. Usually when my girlfriend does something where some guys are I am totally fine with it, it is fairly normal. Unless they are interested in her. But she constantly begs me to forbid any interaction with boys, I do not get this. She fears that I am not jealous enough, which could indicate that I do not really care about her or our love.
