Dating again is a generally bad in idea. Not saying it's all bad, it just has a high chance to fail. Simply because she already knows you to bits and you know her, there is nothing to discover in eachother (not quite right, but I am taking a simplified situation). The problems that led to the previous break up are most luckily not solved and can lead to another break up. If they are solved nothing guarantees you will deal with the a new problem if you can't solve one without breaking up.
But a lot of people do date for the second time and are happy.
I am in a similar situation and I left dating again alone.

Is there a point in searching for girlfriends?
Myself I think that searching, looking around, for a girlfriend increases your chances to get one. That will lead to filtering a lot of girls that don't fit and living throught bad relationships. On the other side all of my loved ones were not found that way, they randomly appeared in my life.
What do you think? Waiting for a good girl to appear, or scouting everything for one?

3 years is a long time mate and it will surely take some time to recover. You will have trouble for a while but keep yourself occupied and try to take it easy, usually when I had to much spare time I started thinking to much about it and making it even worse.
