There were a total of 9 people in the bus including us two, the driver and some people in the front. We were, obviously at the backseats.

I've had similar problems and whats worked for us is to take the lead and take her a little out of her comfort zone. If i pushed too hard she'd just lockup and nothing would get her to try for the rest of the day, but not pushing at all had nothing changing. So try to find the right balance.
^ That basically, it sounds like she wants to do the stuf but is just too shy to actually take the lead and do it.
