He's poking fun at you guys, don't take it so seriously. =)
He does this in every thread lol. Persistent trolling or stupidity? I do electronic music because I'm too lazy to learn guitar. I don't even give a fuck i like electronic music anyway. Yo yo fuck society
at least you're honest
Stop. You're not funny.
feisty, this one
Keep the topic on track. Drop the whole previous discussion about electronic music. If anyone wants critique on a song before sending it in or before finalizing it, you should post it here or into this thread. If anyone is recording guitars or other instruments and is not very good at mixing, I would be able to mix it for you. I realize a lot of people who play instruments aren't all that familiar with mixing, especially if they are more into playing than recording (which most of my musicians friends are), so if you aren't very confident in your mixing ability I'd be willing to do it for you. I would also be able to add basic drum parts for people who don't have access to drums or a drum synth, the only requirement being that you'd have to record with a metronome so the parts are in time. Just send me a PM if you're interested.
Stop. You're not funny.
Sorry. I was being trolled strongly.
I'm never shown anyone here any of my music, let alone submit anything. I'm not sure if this is any good, but would this submission up to par? Yes, yes, I saw the post 2 up, but I'm still a little nervous to show anyone, and most of the people who I think make amazing songs are posting in here. I'm also looking for tips on mastering, I've never done anything like this before, I just kind of adjusted levels till it sounded good to me. Keep in mind that this is a 320 MP3, not a wav. It sounds better as a wav.
What part of this
Don't think your song is good enough? Ask yourself, is it good enough? There is no discrimination towards any genre whatsoever, the goal with these CDs is to help people create music (and in this particular case, promote their music even further to the great people of facepunch). It's only you who decide whether the music you've done or want to send is good enough. ... Anyone can get in on this. Any number of artists want to contribute, it just means more tracks. Behold the glory of giant-ass digital releases!
Was it that you failed to comprehend?
so much anger in this thread!
Anger is a great way of finding inspiration!
Except if its a saint
What part of this Was it that you failed to comprehend?
I've asked myself this, so I guess I shall just submit. I'm in.
Awesome, glad to have you on board man. =)
I'm working on a dubstep song for this album (very different to my usual progressive house). I posted it in the music in progress thread but for the guys that don't go there I'll post it here as well.
I think this sounds very good and has great potential, but one thing i'd criticise is the bass which sounds very muddy to me, I don't think it sit well in the overall mix. You also might want to change the LFO rate occasionally so it's not some constant buzz which gets rather boring and predictable.

It got a cool athmosphere.
Quick question, since it's dubstep sampling is a technique I've used a bit, some of you may notice the sound of the sirens from HL2 used as just effects in the background. I wouldn't think that this will be a problem but is it an issue that the sound at 0:54-1:05 is also a sample... should I just cut it or is that okay since it really isn't a song but is a sound effect?
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1102664-RuBisCO are there any songs in there (probably the versions without singing) that anyone would like to hear a more precise recording of so I could submit it?

It also seems like you changed it strongly (?)
Well since we aren't selling this and you are taking it out of context I'd be fairly sure we can get this one on fair use. I did a bit of eqing and put some effects on it... I may try to change it up a bit more or just recreate it myself cause I think its a really awesome sound.
It's illegal but whatever
It's illegal but whatever
Pretty sure this is fair use, do feel free to elaborate why it isn't
I'm not sure if it is illegal. I mean it's been used in HL2, Silent Hill, 28 Days Later and something else that I forget the name of... Apparantly it's just some stock sound and after looking for a while no one seems to know where it came from. Anyway heres an update: Still got a bit to do... add some more synths to the intro, smoothen the transitions and make the break a bit more like a break and less like a fadeout of the song etc.
They paid for it. Stock audio is NOT free. You have to buy the sound library to have the rights to use it. the only way its fair use is if it is used for criticism, education, parody, and little more than that.

That's awesome, but the bass gets really irritating. You need to make it stop sometime. I do still like this a lot [editline]24th July 2011[/editline]
They paid for it. it doesn't matter [editline]24th July 2011[/editline]
Common misunderstandings Fair use is commonly misunderstood because of its deliberate ambiguity. Here are some of the more common misunderstandings with explanations of why they are wrong: Noncommercial use is invariably fair. Not true, though a judge may take the profit motive or lack thereof into account. In L.A. Times v. Free Republic, the court found that the noncommercial use of L.A. Times content by the Free Republic Web site was in fact not fair use, since it allowed the public to obtain material at no cost that they would otherwise pay for.

There is literally no subbass at all in this track. The bassline is thin, boring and annoying, the snare is too high in the mix and doesn't have that punch that snares normally have in Dubstep and there is no melody or anything, just a (boring) bassline, some drums and the ocasional FX. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] Woops, I just noticed this isn't the Creative Music in Progress thread. Sorry
