Well I completely forgot about Soundcloud. Derp. I've been checking Steam.

Alright, I'm anxious to see how many have listened to all the tracks. =)

There you go! There's also 77 total downloads of the album. Sadly, this is way down from the first album which had over 500 downloads. Anyone got any ideas on how to spark interest in the collaborative albums again?
We could consider advertising on other website and forums? (and setting up a website for ourselves perhaps, but then we get to the issue of hosting costs). Make it a bigger thing than just GD in facepunch.

Yes.

The website thing sounds particularly awesome but that's kind of problematic

Unless we use the money from the album to support the website and all the excess then goes to charity, or some nice member has a server they don't need/want/whatever.
Is the album done already?
No.
I haven't even submitted a song yet :v:
Good, then I still have time.
Ok now I've submitted a song times up
The deadline is 31st of August.

I'm sorry for making a joke.
What should I do? Folk, blues or classical? :v:

A blues song about a depressed musician and the song slowly turns into a happy folk song when the guy becomes happy again.
Or a boatride with hitler and stalin.

How about some good old fashioned folk blues?
Like, the guitar, harmonica and vocals kind of blues.

Folk would be awesome.
Thanks guys, you've given me some great ideas!
submit the album to music blogs and music news sites/album review sites. Write a press release first though. It's easy and if it works it can generate a huge quantity of hits.
if I could write anything I would try to get in on this
I have now sent in my track, I've completely lost any inspiration when it comes to musicmaking and it sucks, but rest assured the track you will hear on this album will be of superior quality.
The main time when I lose inspiration is when I come back a week or two later to finish a piece. I forget what it's called, but it's the feeling of being attached to the song and not wanting to change even the bad parts. Apparently this happens a lot with bands who spend a lot of time on an album and fall in love with the rough mix.
We got a different philosophy, we jam until we play it tight enough and then I master it in as short time as possible. The idea is that we don't want to spend too much on a track, since trying to completely perfect it (we already have enough time of doing that with live gigs) would probably detract too much from the original feel of the track.
This is probably a bad and contraproductive philosophy, but we want it to sound raw. =)
It's good to recognize that your work philosophy likely doesn't apply to others. I'm big into improvising most of what I come up with, and though I'll usually have a decent enough picture of what the song will look like, the details come in later. Also, knowing yourself is a big factor, I know that if I work too long on a song that I'm likely to not finish, so I try to finish a song as fast as possible. Some people spend months and months composing simple songs, and I just couldn't do that, but I could see why it works for other people.
Something I don't agree with is not fixing parts because of the mentality that it makes the song impure. Like refusing to change bad lyrics because you think it's the original lyrics are deeper or whatever. This gets talked about in some book I read, and there is no reason not to fix parts that don't work in a song. In the book the author describes it as insecure about what you came up with and doubting your ability. I'd also add that it is demo love, where you start to like the bad quirks.
Sign me up.

how about it?
I am nearly done with my song but I am keeping it secret.

Your vocals are really lacking in shine. Boost some high frequencies, maybe some chorus or something. Also it all just feels really muddy somehow, even the hihats.
Other than that it is quite awesome
yeah I didn't EQ it really at all. thanks

and I'm using a rock band mic so I've got limited potential
