Pretty fair portrayal in all. Especially since Generation Kill was not a work of fiction.

thanks mucho love <3 ;)
I actually wrote a term paper for U.S. History about how Hollywood vilifies Arabs and Muslims. I used another book by the same author since it was more recent, but it's a very interesting topic. If any of you are interested, I can send you the paper. It got a 98 :-)
please just stop, you are making yourself look bad. everything you acuse me of you are guilty of yourself. If you where born on an island away from everything, you grow up to know only what you see, you know no language. Do you still believe in your god?. I suguest YOU stop replying, as I have crumbled YOUR arguments. it is late, I am going to bed. Just look in a damn mirror hypocrite.
There's more irony in your posts than there was radiation during the Chernobyl incident. You're trying to prove some false ideology that you're right about whatever you say, when in reality, you're just making yourself look like a closed-minded dumbass who thinks he understands the complexities of how the human mind works, and what it believes in. [editline]08:29PM[/editline]
Grats on 9000 posts and sorry for being annoying, its just because he got me hooked in his stupid arguments. I think we all know how stupid he is judging by the quality of his posts.
Don't suck up or compliment some ass who doesn't deserve it.
Now I consider you more annoying than him cause you're a suck up.
Stop being a dickhead, he was complementing you.
shut up opal /kill thread before more atheist extremists start flooding this thread like that other retard
He's right, they'll flood in here with shit posts and invalid arguments.
What you are saying is so fucking stupid it's hard to contemplate how someone can generalize a culture like how you just did. I'm not surprised they would be dicks to someone like you, someone who looks down on another culture because you can't understand the way they act or speak. It's ironic an asshole like you, calls them assholes. You're just a racist, stereotypical scumbag who thinks he can criticize a culture because you have a personal vendetta against a few Arabs. In a less serious note, Wallah is the equivalent to "Swear to God". It's common in North America, and is usually said by any young person. Try asking them what it means instead of pissing yourself about it.
Did you even read what I wrote? I don't care if they say WALLAH or whatever once, the thing is THEY KEEP SAYING IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, and not after or before a phrase, like in rapid sucession. "WALLAH WALLAH WALLAH TOUCHE MOI PAS WALLAH WALLAH" That's what the typical arab kid/teenager over here keeps saying and they keep being an asshole just because you passed by them, do you think I go around telling them to shut the fuck up and what not? No. I am not a racist, like I said I have a couple of arab friends and they're pretty cool, but it's really difficult to like arabs when all you do is walk past them and they just keep spouting bullshit at you saying the same word like 5 times in a row before telling you whatever asshole-ish they have in mind and thinking they're superior. I've had times where one of these assholes asked me for my seat in a bus trying to act all high and mighty and got pissed off when I clearly told him I didn't want to give him my seat as there was plenty around me.
oh no, a single thing criticizing another race, clearly we are all worse than Hitler. People that earn my respect will get it
Someone's pretty high and mighty. Yes, my life's culmination of work is to get your respect, once that is done, I can die peacefully. Seriously people, nobody's stopping you from discussing the topic and expressing your opinion, but at least be intelligent about it.
Man you're thickheaded, its people like you that desperately try to crumble everything you don't believe in, I respect that you're an atheist, respect that I'm a muslim deal? 90% plus of the arabic populations is good people and live just like christians. The muslim religion is true for me, and I'm sure if you watched those video clips you would recognize Islam as a true religion,
Okay, when I read your first post in this tread telling everyone how the qur'an doesn't tell anyone to blow themselves up or kill anyone, I though "this person is p. cool". But now you're just pushing it. And this is coming from a former-muslim. [editline]03:20AM[/editline]
Did you even read what I wrote? The Arabic language has many words and phrases that has something to do with god. But then again, if their using it when NOT talking Arabic, it can get annoying, yes.
Stop being a dickhead, he was complementing you.
No he wasn't, he was kissing ass. Ass kissers are the fucking worst, it's just a "nice" way of manipulation.
And they are not talking arabic, they are talking french except in between words they say WALLAH like 5 times.
Double the annoyance, then.
And they are not talking arabic, they are talking french except in between words they say WALLAH like 5 times.
No you're just a horrible person, why would they even say WALLAH 5 times. Thanks for exaggerating but you are out of time please sign up for the Nationalist Party
stereotypes are based on the truth. We, Koreans are stereotyped as loud, arrogant, stubborn, and proud people. You fucking bet we are.
mark me as late but i think there is some merit to the stereotype, i mean, look at most of the terrorist attacks, i dont see any Catholics or Jews blowing themselves up, if anything, Christianity has been getting a pretty bad subliminal wrap lately.
mark me as late but i think there is some merit to the stereotype, i mean, look at most of the terrorist attacks, i dont see any Catholics or Jews blowing themselves up, if anything, Christianity has been getting a pretty bad subliminal wrap lately.
no but catholics molest little boys, jews as religion tries to suck up cash, and Christianity is ignorant in general every stereotypes are justified and hilarious.
Then how do stupid stereotypes like 'indians eat curry 24/7 loololol' cause I fucking guarantee you, my parents lived and grew up in different parts of India and curry isn't that popular.
Quite a few Indian people I've met smelt of spices/herbs and I'm guessing that that's where that came from, even if the spices were never even used in a curry.
Then there's the stereotypes to do with Indians smelling. Where the fuck did this start? If it started in the actual country back when it wasn't as civilized, maybe I could understand. But I would say East Indians especially in general smell a lot better than the greasy motherfucking caucasian smoking tards you meet day to day.
Well, these stereotypes probably didn't start in India itself. But more likely formed from European/American peoples perception of the small amount of Indian people in Europe/America.
On that note, you don't really notice white society in either America or Europe having the kind of stereotypes people from the different countries in Asia face, do you? And if there is one you don't hear them very often.
You don't notice that if you've lived in Europe/America I'm sure, but I'll bet there are a whole host of stereotypes of the country you live in that are held by people in other countries that you've never heard of. I've lived in England my whole life and of course I know the place well enough that I know the stereotypes are rarely true. And I'm sure an Indian who's lived in India will know that the stereotypes of them are rarely true as well. But since I've never lived in India and of the few Indian people I've ever met many have had a certain spicey aroma about them then that builds a stereotype in my mind and the same happens for many others so therefore the stereotyping gains popularity. Of course I realise stereotypes don't truly represent a group of people but there has to be something that was true of some of that group for the stereotype to build from.
Arab people and Islam are two very different things. I wouldn't be half as scared of the Arab nations if there weren't still nations that impose capital punishment for homosexuality. Holy fucking shit though... That quote from Rush Limbaugh. Oh my God...

We have a lot more of that with our foods, but still not enough to smell like it.. Don't know. If you met an Indian that smelled like that in Britain or North America, I find that surprising. And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the stereotypes began when Britain had been occupying India for so many years. You have a point for your second one, actually. If you grew up in an East-Indian family like me you will notice they talk of white people a little differently and kind of make jokes about them in certain matters, it's hard to explain. They aren't really stereotyping, I don't know how to put it into words.
Arabs in western society know a good deal of people either misunderstand or take their culture/religion the wrong way and thus isolate themselves from other types of people. And the thing that one guy said about +50% of Arabs acting like their stereotype is just stupid. Put up some sources to back up your claim. Otherwise you're just talking about of your ass.

Yeah but the British are usually badass villains [editline] That's called STEREOTYPING and you should feel ashamed of yourself
Stereotyping will always exist, and when over 50% of the arab population is just like the stereotype it doesn't help at all.
Don't you love it when immigrants whine about their host country's laws/rules like the burqa case in France? If you don't like it there, **** off. It's their country, why should they have to bend over backwards to be politically correct? There's this quote by Kevin Rudd which is pretty kickass, can't be bothered to quote it though :D
I, too, believe that all Muslims are first-generation immigrants from the Middle East.
This is a terrible thread
Welcome to every religion thread on FP?
Hollywood portrays all non-whites as stereotypical characters, it has always been that way.
