I find all of this very hard to believe..
You cant generalize all of the US just because there is a small group of parents that dont know how to take care of their kids. (IF this is true).
nope america is literally a third world country in terms of ignorance and moral progress
end this shitty country now
The Bible Belt? Maybe.
Everywhere else? No.
I'm confused. Hasn't this ever been taken to court? It is a crime to endanger a child anyways, and there's probably about a legal dictionary's worth of other things that these companies have done that should get them shut down and get people thrown in jail.
Most of the cases that are brought up against institutions like this are thrown out. There's atleast one of these hell holes in every state. They're for profit, and they make campaign contributions to the republican party. There are also cases where they bribe judges who specialize in teen crime cases. These judges get a special, under the table commission for sending innocent kids to these camps.
This system is so fucked that it can't be unfucked.

Oh dear.

there was a news story ITN a few months back about a judge getting caught doing this exact thing.

Yup because everyone in the US is like this :downs:

it's hard to claim to be a first world country when shit like this is happening this very fucking moment within our borders.

Holy shit, do you have a LOT to learn. This isn't some isolated case, there are more than 50 of these places in the states. I even knew a guy who was hauled off in the middle of the night, beaten, and then taken to a camp in the middle of nowhere for months on end because he tried marijuana once and got busted.
I have a feeling the wikipedia page was made by staff members of the actual program because it has no mention of the offenses agains it, I just added this testimony to it
by the people for the people. whatever happened to that. go vote and raise awareness. if people don't care, then what does that really say about the general population of the state?
Yeah, I think I should tell someone about this.
"________ is unnatural" is THE worst fucking argument, ever
Literally goes for anything. Nature does not imply good.
The smallpox virus is natural. So are volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and forest fires. There are loads and loads of horrifyingly shitty things out there that are perfectly natural, and will either kill you if you look at them funny or just make your life not worth living in general.
oh explain this please. i'm dying to know.
While the parents certainly should have a little more responsibility than to send them off to a "behavioural treatment camp" in the first place, they not completely at fault. WWASP is just as effective at propaganda towards children as it is towards parents. As soon as they get it into their heads that their kids are mentally abnormal, they'll interpret all protests to the contrary in the light of the supposed condition, which will reinforce the belief. It's an interesting phenomenon, have a look.

Does anyone in the law know about this? Maybe as soon as the police come they hide all the evidence.
I'm amazed that this chick didn't make an escape attempt, or that she didn't mention any violent uprisings among the student body.
I mean the first thing I thought of when she said they would put you in some form of solitary confinement was that I would try not comply, I would try to escape, and I would do so violently.
I mean if your in highschool your pretty much an adult, so regardless of the fact that your parents conesnt to your kidnapping and imprisonment I would not just sit there and go "oh ho hum I guess this is what they want."
I say this of course from the mindset of a person living in the normal world where I am not routenely subjected to psychological torture, and I really wouldn't expect someone who had been imprisoned at this facility for a long time to have the same "Fuck you all I'll do what I want at all costs, kiss my freedom loving ass" attitude that rouses in me while reading this story.

no but the vast majority of the population have no control over anything at all. the power rests with the government who can destroy millions of lives on a whim. hang your leaders, dissolve the united states
Holy.Fucking.Shit.
This is fucking disgusting. Horrible. I physically want to fly myself to America, go to one of these places and kill this fucking R. and his fucking minions. Then again, that might be too good for him.
How about kidnapping him, and sending him to a re-education school of our own, one involving a dom man, a ballgag and him as the bitch. Literally just use his own fucking system in reverse.
Fuck this shit, it's making me too fucking angry thinking about it. This is fucking revolting, and I feel so sorry for those poor people who are forced into that.
it is illegal to hold someone against their will. that is kidnapping.
Except its parents who are signing their kids up for it. I can't tell if that makes them worse than those who run the school or not. Not a single one of them are fit to teach or raise a child.
As shitty as all this is though, I can't help but imagine myself there trying to argue logic with the teachers for fun or organize an escape like Steve McQueen, that would be pretty cool.

If you want to get really technical with in,
Anything that exists anywhere ever is "natural" so this argument is double terrible because if it were true it would imply there is no such thing as evil.
I'm amazed that this chick didn't make an escape attempt, or that she didn't mention any violent uprisings among the student body.
People do escape. The camp becomes a legal guardian, so when you escape, they call the police who then hunt you down and drag you back in shackles. And then you're sentenced to isolation for a few days.

GLASSES AND HEARING AIDS ARE UNNATURAL! If god had wanted you to see and hear he wouldn't have taken away your 20/20 vision and hearing ability!

The only problem with that idea is they probably have guns there.
I'm sorry, but this argument is said virtually every time something bad happens or is discovered in the USA and makes the news. How much more rape, murder, suffering, torture, and abuse is it going to take before it's declared that I'm not generalizing?
You're spending too much time on a forum where people are likely to post a lot about corruption and abuses against minorities in the USA. Try looking on different websites - it's far from confined to there.
This is honestly the most disgusting thing I've ever read. Nothing has ever motivated me to want to kill something like this. Ever.

I was checking the history for the article and found some info on the camp, probably true, but taken out since it wasn't "encyclopedic".

Well actually no, if a child were to escape he/she could leave the guardians.

It won't stay up like that, you should make a controversy section with a small introduction and links to a bunch of reliable sources and stories like in the OP.
