It's like a Gestapo that your parents can call out on you
If your parents are actually good they wouldn't do it... it's a problem with multiple facets, really The fact that there are parents stupid enough to do it and the fact that those concentration camps exist in the first place
Holy fuck man I wonder how many other people on FP are in similar conditions? :ohdear:
I remember when I was little tike in elementary, I was in the gifted classes. Since everyone around me seemed smart and cheery, I assumed everything in the world was fine. I honestly remembering worrying about who would do things like deliver pizzas since I thought everyone was smart enough to do something better. Nowadays, I worry about things like this being done seemingly all the time, how politics are usually run by profits instead of whats right, our broken judicial system as a society, and how nobody in power seems to want to change things that really matter for the better. The world is such a depressing place.
It's like a Gestapo that your parents can call out on you
Trust me, it's disgusting. However these cries of "hang your leaders" and "I'm getting the fuck out of here" will do nothing to actually solve these problems.
The fact that there are parents stupid enough to do it and the fact that those concentration camps exist in the first place
It's the second of these that you can actually do something about. They shouldn't be legal, end of. There will always be stupid parents, and you'd have to enact fascist policies to make it otherwise.
Most religious americans only follow certain parts of their religious teachings that they think applies to them.
Exactly, but the dumb thing is that what I was thought in my religious schools was that taking the quote of saying being gay is an abomination is taking it out of context and that Christian and Catholics aren't actually supposed to hate gays. Which bothers me as it now raises the question that are you Christian because you actually have faith in the teachings or are you just Christian so you can think you have a valid excuse to hate people.
Fine, run away from your problems, nevertheless they will be here when you look back. I will live and face these problems knowing the U.S. still has good people.
That is incredibly noble and patriotic of- :colbert:
Wasn't there a movie about a camp like this?
It's like a Gestapo that your parents can call out on you
Best description I've seen so far.

By the way, if any of you actually want to try to do something, go here and/or start writing letters to people who have the authority to make things like this illegal. You can also email the PCA in America to bring this to their attention. mailbox@preventchildabuse.org And their media contact btanzer@preventchildabuse.org
I'm leaving america. I have lost all hope in our justice system and government. There are plenty of good people in the US, but the problem is that the horrible ones tend to ruin it for everyone else then get off by bribing the judge.
Come to Canada. We don't have shit like this, and when we do it gets shut down pretty fast.
Even if the legal situation is strange (considering the fact that they get legal guardianship and all) these camps still would've been shut down if the system was operating properly. It's been proven time and time again that they've abused and even killed children. Even with legal guardianship you can't do that, obviously. The only explanation is corruption really. I really wish I knew some way I could help get rid of this shit. Expose whatever politicians are taking bribes from these fucks (or is such a troglodyte that they agree with this shit) and make sure they end up in prison along with the child abusing assholes that they've enabled.
Only a republican would fund this sick shit!
Wow, I got really mad reading this. If I was ever sent there, I would probably get violent, or even worse, the brainwashing would work. That's some fucked up shit. That is not Christianity, not any religion, in any sense of the words.
Is prison anyone else's biggest fear? Not like fear of being stabbed or raped and what not, but of prison itself? I absolutely can not stand being stuck in a place against my will knowing that I can't leave. I'd go insane within a few hours. Being sent to a camp like this would be hell for me.
this is quite honestly 1984. in every way.
Only a republican would fund this sick shit!
That's a little unfair. This is pretty sick even for republicans. I mean I know he was a republican, but I don't think that has that much to do with it.

The contacts page just lists addresses and phone numbers.

If I was a cop in the area I would go all renegade on this place.
Only a republican would fund this sick shit!
The guy who runs WBC is a Democrat.
Absolutely terrible. When I was much more troubled my mother spoke with my therapist about these schools and looked into them some which freaked me out greatly, even at that time there were similar reports on places like the ones she considered sending me to, and I showed them to her and she freaked out that she had even considered it. Dodged a bullet there. I never quite forgave her for putting me through the terror of the thought of going to one of those places.

Damn those connections. I try not to treat other members by their avatar, but by their comments.
What I have just read disturbs me greatly. I almost wish I could be sent to one of these institutions(although nothing is "wrong" with me, as they would put it) just so I could rebel and try to cause as much physical harm on those that tried to verbally and physically abuse the poor children that were practically imprisoned there. From what I see, this is extremely inhumane and any parent insane enough to send their child to a place like this to be mentally and physically hurt should be executed for their stupidity.
Every time you did you would probably be tackled to the ground and held there for long periods of time, maybe even up to 15 minutes. Considering all the deaths that have been caused there in such a fashion, how long do you think you would last? I mean I'm not saying that it isn't a noble aspiration but you won't get anywhere.

My state is so fucked up
Camps like this really fuck people up. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0772200/ This movie is pretty powerful on this subject.
People behind these camps need to receive a Texas Funeral. :smug:

Oh wait, unless you're gay and you live in Utah and your parents are fundies. Then your nightmares can become reality.
The guy who runs WBC is a Democrat.
Naturally there's bad Democrats, but I assure you there's a lot less awful Democrats than there are awful Republicans.
