And to think, some of these children could have really done something amazing.
Imagine if Garry Newman was one of those.
Yea actually thats pretty much exactly what happened to them. :frog:
You are fucking retarded. It's not legal at all to break into someone's house and kidnap them. At all. If the parents signed them up for it, then all of the things described are legal (except for the whole death thing, thanks for the tip there). My point is it's not a kidnapping. The parents signed them up for the "program". Since you obviously didn't read my post/OP or you just don't have any common sense, I suggest you :frog: until you learn to read.

Your parents can't sign away the law of child abuse, but coming and taking them in the night is legal.
Anywhere that is not america lol
I don't hate america, but it's like a mini china where the most horrible shit happen and no one knows about
North America is Best America
This is one of the reasons I became atheist. It was firstly because I started taking an advanced History and Philosophy class, but also because I felt that I could not belong to the same group as people like this.
holy hell, brainwashing? Oh god, this is terrivble

no, he's agreeing with you.
we know it was the parents that signed them up.
it's still a terrible thing

Being sent to these programs was a direct cause of my deconversion from christianity.

I've noticed that's what happened with a handful of my friends who went to Catholic school. In fact, several went straight to satanism simply to spite their family/old teachers. (turns out satanism is neat and has nothing to do with devil-worshipping, but still). Not quite on the same scale of what you went through, no doubt, but I've always found religiously based schooling institutions to do more harm than good to their own causes. The only kids I know who didn't become goths and the like were already interested in furthering their religious experience, not being told they had to be more religious and that they weren't good enough as they naturally were.

Yeah, Satanism is actually pretty cool, or at least Lehay Satanism is. He chose 'satanism' to be inflammatory, but the ideals are pretty solid.
But yeah, I was a Southern Baptist prior to the programs, and being put in a position where the authorities couldn't be trusted and were obviously trying to manipulate you causes you to view all things more skeptically. Fast forward a few years and I'm pretty solidly a gnostic atheist. I don't think being exposed to the insanity that is Mormonism really helped to retain my beliefs in judeo-christianity.
The only thing I have against religion is that 90% of people go to church to show off their fancy new clothes, their car, brag about all their shit. I don't think many of them go to worship. Which, you guessed it, was the reason church is there.
I wouldn't blame it on the WWASP, we should look at the root of the problem: bad parenting.
It becomes very clear this is the case when you find out that the "kidnappings" are paid for by them (the parents).

No, you should really blame it on WWASP. They spent a fortune making sure that they had whole networks of people in their pocket. They had a writer endorse their schools in a well respected parenting book, and had an entire marketing devision under a different name that worked based off of paid commissions. Any parent struggling with these kinds of issues would be bombarded with 'positive' examples of how great WWASP was. That's not a case of bad parenting, that's a case of lying to desperate parents. Very different thing.
your parents are the problem.

This. Even though the parents might have been religious nutcases, they had no idea how bad WWASP actually was.
How abhorrent. This shit's legal?!
The problem is, most American civilians are too lazy or alright with their government fucking them over.
OK amute. I'm sick of your fucking bullshit popping up in every thread I read. I can't read one thread about the United States, or Israel, or Religion with out you popping in to go "fuk da polic americunts suck mah dick" obviously, you use much more elegant language in doing so, but you still need to seriously shut the hell up and sit back once in a while.
How abhorrent. This shit's legal?!
Barely to not at all. Honestly the only things keeping these open are a lack of public knowledge and a few politically strong ultra-conservative Mormons. A strong movement via social media could conceivably get it media attention and kill it.
Holy shit, this has pretty much ruined my whole week, I feel sorry for these people.
Not all Mormons are bad though. I live in California, and down the street from me is a really charitable Mormon family. Dad owns a sub shop, most of the sons are Boy Scouts(I think there is at least one Eagle). I do hate the stupid conservative Mormons however.
I think this may have been posted before, but:
Her name was Angellika “Angie” Arndt and she was a beautiful little girl. Her life was cut short because of inadequate staff training and the use of good old common sense. Angie was placed into a dangerous face-down prone restraint position and held down by a man nearly 5 times her body weight for nearly 50 minutes. The weight of his body on her upper torso caused her death. The day before she died she was reprimanded for blowing bubbles in her milk and laughing during lunchtime. Her punishment was being held down in the same face-down prone restraint position for 98 minutes.
That's just awful. She was 7 years old, by the way.
So it's a modern day concentration camp.

Of course not. Half of my family is Mormon. There are a few odd things about it, like how if your spouse cheats on you, you aren't considered pure enough to go to Temple, or how they think the Garden of Eden was in Missouri, or pretty much all of the core parts of The Book of Mormon. But as a societal base it is very strong, what with its focus on personal responsibility and charity. Some of the most kind, caring, generous people I've met are Mormons. You can never make generalizations.
However, that strong conservative societal base I just praised leads to some seriously fucked up shit if it's taken too far, and I have seen a few people woefully unprepared for the real world because of it, including a couple of cousins. Just like some of the best people are hardcore Mormons, so are some of the worst.

That restraint position is pretty much universal at all these places. I was forced to lie that way for 14 hours a day for two weeks while at Tranquility Bay because I reported abuse of my fellow students to the US Embassy.

I wish it had done any good. The embassy made routine inspections, but they were always announced, and the facility would always get a little cleaner, the staff a little friendlier, and the food a little more like...well...food, around the time the inspectors would show up.
EDIT: And oh god I clicked something on your post and now there's a checkmark what did I do D:

You have rated his post. Just kind of a way for people to say yes/no/this was funny/whatever without having to post fifty times about it. If you refresh the page or come back another time you can re-rate his post and it will change what you rated before so it doesn't look like you just narcissistically agreed to him calling you a nice person, haha.

I gotcha. I was trying to find some way to undo it so that I didn't look like I was just kinda circle-jerking there, but I couldn't find any way to undo it, lol.
