This just pisses me right the fuck off...
Jesus christ, what the fuck is wrong with these people?
I took their test (http://www.crosscreekprogram.com/ccc/student_quiz.asp)
I got 15/30.

Some of these questions are fucking ridiculous.
"Is your teen's appearance or personal hygiene outside your family standards?"

I was expecting it to come out 18+ no matter what I put, but I guess they take the test seriously.

Yeah, it leaves me thinking what if the teen is extremely clean and the family standards are dirty?

It's like the quizzes that the Scientologists hand out. The questions apply to everyone, but still sound bad. It is a joke if you have real experience in that area, but exploits people who are scared and don't know what to do.

Rights to information aren't constitutionally given in the US, but this does breach a few others.
So the post is keeping a constant stream of around 33 people reading at any moment, and pushing 3.5k notes.
Reading the reactions is pretty unnerving.
i think that south park episode where butters is sent to a gay re-education camp is based on this. all the kids get "buddies", there's several scenes where kids just pull guns out and shoot themselves, etc.
excellent song for the theme of this thread
This next paragraph is the worst
A detainee graduates when the person reach level six or the person become 18. If a person does not reach level six before the 18 birthday, the detainee can choose an Exit Plan, which consists of being handed money (amounts between 10 and 100 dollar according to sources) and a bus ticket to Denver. The family of the detainee has no obligations to take the detainee back and in fact the parents are urged no to during seminars, they have to attend in order to visit their own child once, they have enrolled the child in the program.
What seems bad to me is that they probably wouldn't let you apply for scholarships and and colleges effectively screwing up a future that doesn't involve minimum wage working by simpily throwing you on the streets since they tell the parents they shouldn't support you if you turn 18 there.

You mean because of the exit plan or in general? The only thing Cross Creek did for me was academically. I did three years of high school in 11 months, graduated at 16, and was able to attend college classes while in the program at 17.
If you mean thru the exit plan, then yes, it's basically a worst case scenario meant to scare kids into staying when they no longer legally had to. Most parents didn't follow through.

nothing else can be said.
I was checking the history for the article and found some info on the camp, probably true, but taken out since it wasn't "encyclopedic".

the entire test is a scaretactic. 95% of teenagers exhibit these 'symptoms' regardless of being a problem or not, and the fact that ANY number of answers still qualifies as "moderate risk" ("up to 8"), and that 8 of them are repeats and points directed at the parent being worried rather than problems with a kid. "Do you care for your child's wellbeing?" "Do you feel powerless in helping them", and half a dozen versions of 'does your kid have a problem with authority/following rules/whatever')

'Technically' you could cause a chemical burn, but it was mostly a response to people using toothpaste as an anti-acne treatment. I saw kids get Self Inflicts for getting sunburned and for eating so much on thanksgiving they vomited.

It functions the same way horoscopes do. They apply pretty much to everybody, and the one or two things that don't people just naturally ignore.

What are they, run by North Korea?
I'm wondering what countries allow this and which ones don't. Is it legal in Australia?
Because this is almost on par with Concentration camps. But with less Body burning....
... Right?
We aren't the government.
I can't bother reading the rest of the thread... but...
Mormonism has a large influence on the government here in Utah. I'm not Mormon, I wasn't raised Mormon, but I also wasn't raised Atheist. My parents still haven't told me what they believe, because they wish me to grow up with no religious impact, and want me to decide what I am. With that said, Utah's government has a large impact from religion. One example I can think of off the top of my head is that they're removing Liquor Stores (or were) for no reason. It's very profitable, and brings in quite a bit of money, yet they're removing it. Why? There's no reason to economically, except that it's against the Mormon's religious values. That's the only plausible reason they'd remove liquor stores, and probably exactly why, religion.
