So far my shed got hit with a tree, my sisters swing set got hit, and in my front yard a tree got ripped out of the ground.
K
So far my shed got hit with a tree, my sisters swing set got hit, and in my front yard a tree got ripped out of the ground.
Woah. That's nearly exactly what happened to my neighbors house. Their shed got hit by a tree and a tree fell over in their front yard.
So far my shed got hit with a tree, my sisters swing set got hit, and in my front yard a tree got ripped out of the ground.
*takes impulsive glance at the dozens of trees around the house* :tinfoil:
My house is right in front of the woods, so there's a shit ton of huge trees that are all big enough to hit my house. so far so good though.
While I'm quite certain you're talking more about the non-qualified average joe standing around like an idiot, actual, trained storm watchers/chasers find this stuff absolutely fascinating. Hell, I'd absolutely love to go tornado chasing. [editline]28th August 2011[/editline] This feels relevant, even though it's referring to the East Coast's recent 5.8 earthquake. Heavy rain in NYC.
Oh boy! You caught them! I can't believe you found out their "evil" plan to take fake images from space of the Hurricane :v:!
Jesus people, I wasn't suggesting that there was a conspiracy. I was thinking more along the lines that it was a simulation rather than an actual photo.
Tornado warnings in South Jersey now. Hurricane hasn't even hit us with full force yet.
Tornado warnings in South Jersey now. Hurricane hasn't even hit us with full force yet.
Tornadoes (assuming the storm spawns any) almost always precede the main hurricane itself. The wind shear from the coast line mixes with the rotation of the storm.
It's starting to rain a bit harder than before, but we've had thunderstorms with more rain than this.
Tornado Warning Bucks County PA....fuck

we did nothing. seriously, theres jack shit here besides wind and occasional rain.
I live in Florida and I don't even know what hurricane people are talking about. I'm posting this before I read the OP because up until this thread I didn't even know what was going on. I don't watch the news very often. :v:
It appears in st Marys there's a dam that has a chance of getting breached.
I'm in a volunteer fire department in Westchester county, (30 miles above NYC) we're mobilized and waiting for the first emergency call to come in. Will report when it does.

It's funny; from that image one could get the idea that Connecticut will hardly get anything at all (as far as rain goes).
I'm in NY. Heavy rain and wind, wonder how horrible tomo- morning will look like. Can't wait.
Tree branches flying everywhere here in mid-NJ Lights are starting to flicker, don't think I'll be able to stay on for much longer
Tree branches flying everywhere here in mid-NJ Lights are starting to flicker, don't think I'll be able to stay on for much longer
Best of luck to you. The wind hasn't even reached here yet.

[editline]27th August 2011[/editline]
I'm in NY. Heavy rain and wind, wonder how horrible tomo- morning will look like. Can't wait.
Where abouts in NY? From what I understand the grid is down in NYC.
They're kinda on the ass end of it.
A small part of me is disappointed. Then again, we're still expecting an additional 5 inches of rain as well as hurricane force winds, so maybe this is for the best :v:

You kinda have to go off satellite imagery to see what you have on the other side because the Doppler radars don't reach that far off shore. Considering it's going right toward New York, you'll hit the eye wall sometime tomorrow morning. You're just not getting that bigass rain band.

I'm just glad work is closed tomorrow (along with...well, probably everyone).
What am I doing to protect my house? Shitting until the cesspool clogs! [editline]August 28th, 2011[/editline] Also, Nothing happening except for rain and about 15mph winds on LI
Nothing is really happening, slight rain, light winds, some lightning here and there. Lights flickered a bit earlier which got me scared, I have a fear of storms after a storm caused an electrical fire down here. After I post this I bet the storm will get worse, I probably jinxed myself.
12:40 PM- Not much happened so far, small leak in the floor of my bathroom coming down from the roof but that's it. Keeping a flashlight on me.
Where ya'll located?
