I'm gonna share my experiences with furries. - text-
Possibly one of the best explanations of any fandom I have ever seen.
Here's how it works: There are cool people and weird people and douchefucks in pretty much every social group you could asign people to ever. There's all the furries you see on ED, then there's the fact that a hell of a lot of the money made by the conventions 'n' shit goes right to charity. Every group is a mixed bag.
Yeah. I mean, there's both really awesome and really awful people in every fandom/hobby. There's good and bad in TF2, DOTA, SFM, facepunch, tumblr/social justice, etc. That doesn't make each subgroup inherently awful. It just means every subgroup is diverse and full of good and bad individuals.
Possibly one of the best explanations of any fandom I have ever seen.
Yep I've been to a furry campout once - its basically like a convention but much much smaller and you are camping and doing the great outdoors instead of being at a hotel. I thought it would be really awkward or weird but it was a lot of fun and really awesome just to meet a whole bunch of people there who you'd never guess were into that kind of thing. One dude in particular was a lower 30's fit geologist who made a good salary, far from what you'd expect from the socially awkward "escapism" stereotype. I find most of the people in the fandom tend to be just like that. They are into it because they like anthromorphism as a concept enough to want to be in a "fanclub" of sorts about it, and they know a lot of really awesome friends belonging to the same "fanclub" to want to get involved with it. A lot of suiters are pretty neat too. Most see it as a way to have fun playing a different role, instead of just being their own identity all the time. They don't live repressed social lives and for them its a way of having fun. It's just like costuming or cos-playing, except it relates to something you intrinsicly have an interest in, and can do it around people who have that same/similar interest. The few public suiters I know of love doing it in parks and stuff around kids, because kids love fursuits, and to them making it so a kid can have an awesome memorable time at the park by hugging thier favorite animal in an anthromorphized form is worth the experience alone. I imagine it's a lot like being a clown, and being able to just be this character that can make kids laugh and smile and adore you. Here's a really good example of what I'm talking about really: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/utunu/ A lot of furs out there are like this guy. Married, enjoys suiting as a hobby of sorts, is an established game programmer of 20 years, etc. And these types of people are an absolute blast to be around, and aren't super socially awkward at all. Best of all, because they aren't 100% "their fursona" you don't have to be a furry to really make conversation or have fun with one. Which is why a lot of people who are furs are pretty normal people you would never guess were into it unless you'd actually meet them at a con, ask, or be into it yourself. The really weird/awkward people are annoying and hard to be around but that's why you simply don't associate yourself with them, like you would in any social situation.
I say we break into the house of a suit addict and steal all his heads so we can put them on spikes and put them along my front fence.
hows about we break into the house of a computer hoarding addict and recycle all the old hardware or give it to a museum
Why do furries make their animal things have people hair? Imo it isn't a problem if you post it on the internet and stuff, and wear stuff to conventions, it's just going out in public and being really in-your-face about it (see vid in op) that most people think is bad.

In the end it still looks fucking ridiculous You can spend stupid amounts of money on a suit to pretend you're a special wolf or something, but don't be surprised when people think you look like an idiot in a suit
I've never understood furries. Do they get sexual enjoyment from wearing suits? The definition of a furry is so broad but It seems that the definition mostly applies to a sexual interest. Do they have sex in the suits? [Probably not, I imagine they would die of exhaustion]. Furries are a bit weird but harmless. :p I've never heard of a single case of furry violence.
Do they have sex in the suits? [Probably not, I imagine they would die of exhaustion].
yes they do, vigorously and often.
Why do you stare at me, mime?! What do you want from me?!
And then you ask them how they managed to get stuck in an invisible box and they don't even have the decency to say anything back.
itt people who still don't understand what furries are, is it 2004 again or something? I've always thought fursuit "outing" (wearing a fursuit in public and recording it) is either silly or the ultimate act of attention whoring.
Ohh you should have seen what it was like before MLP took the spotlight
All I know is that FacePunch used to have a furry subforum, some shit happened. The user created subforums were abolished or something like that.
Do they get sexual enjoyment from wearing suits? Do they have sex in the suits?
Some probably do, but for most of those into fursuitting it's just supposed to be about the fun of cosplaying and pretending to be a character, really. The whole thing about fucking while wearing the suits seems to be more of a misconception or a generalization than anything else. Or at least from my point of view it seems to be.

Furries are a bit weird but harmless. :p I've never heard of a single case of furry violence.
There's an incredibly broad definition and there are heated (and mostly hilarious) discussions on the topic, but the term is basically people "who like porn of anthro animals". Fursuiters are a bit different, and yeah some of them they do have sex in the suits, but it's not most of them, just like fursuiters aren't most furries. Then there's the "dog fucker"(zoophile) and "dog trapped in a human's body"(otherkin) definitions which people who have no clue what they're talking about consider "furry". The "wrong" definitions are often shunned/ridiculed by the rest of the fandom. Also people who say that the entire fandom isn't centered around the anthro fetish and anthro porn are lying to themselves.
I've never understood furries. Do they get sexual enjoyment from wearing suits? I've always thought fursuit "outing" (wearing a fursuit in public and recording it) is either silly or the ultimate act of attention whoring.
Apparently doing something "weird" or "not normal" always constitutes attention whoring to many.

people fuck in cosplay suits too so theres no real difference not that i would know
I'm a furry since I have a attraction towards anthro animals. It is a fetish, that is all My life doesn't revolve around that fetish though, I have better things to do than fapping to two male dragons having sex all day

The ones that do, well they can do whatever they want really. Nothing is stopping them, they are not hurting anyone. But then again they probably have more guts than others because they are willing to do this even with the pressure of weird looks. Some are overcoming anxiety. Some of them don't even care. I've yet to see a cosplayer/fursuiter, etc. do this in public outside of events though.
No one gives aSHIT
I'm a furry and I think he's a colossal retard you see i have the right to generalize and make fun of furries because i am part of that internet subculture

Just the fursuit issue at hand
