Raimi Spider-Man never failed to dodge bullets and actually had spider-sense bordering on precognition. Just saying that he's way more capable, stronger and agile than from what we've seen of Webb Spider-Man. [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] ASM had better cgi and made him move more like a spider. Still, that didn't help him when he got capped in the leg by that sniper and/or failed to subdue that swat team + captain stacy.
what he did subdue that swat team, he beat the shit out of them all and ran away
what he did subdue that swat team, he beat the shit out of them all and ran away
Captain Stacy let him go after seeing his face. [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] Webb Spider-Man still got shot in the leg while he was webslinging. Raimi Spider-Man has dodged shotgun and automatic gunfire at far closer ranges. [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] Webb's spidey also got shot with that tazer thing.

Quite effectively. He also had a far superior 'spider-sense' which I would assume, helped him dodge all those bullets. Like I said, bs physics or not, Raimi's Spider-Man has greater feats in strength, durability, agility and spider-sense.
And he had 3 movies to practice everything. For all we know spider sense is like a muscle and the more this spiderman uses it, the better. I mean in the preview we seen him spinning and dodging bullets from a gun. This was just the beginning he's far capable of doing more when he gets use the powers.
Well since the ASM 2 isn't out yet, we're not too sure about whether Webb's version of the spidey sense is ripped off from Chronicle. As in, 'his ability is like a muscle' idea. We'll have to see whether the guy who regularly got bruises dealing with normal humans is now suddenly on the same level as the spidey who tanked a grenade to the face and several hits from the giant Sandman. [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] Although it's far more important for the film maker imo to show consistency and proper executions of superpowers rather than the whole "WE NEED STRONGER FEATS" thing.

I haven't read too much into the comics but which was he more like. Was he able to tank stuff, or did he just dodge stuff a lot but when he gets hit it hurts? It seems (from the trailer) that he's probably just going to become more experienced as spiderman, which makes him better with his spider senses. But I still prefer this spiderman over Raimi's. Even though they were fun to watch as a kid, I just like this one more.
The 'comics' Spider-Man did both. Sometimes he tanked tons of damage and pulled off some amazing strength feats out of nowhere and sometimes he didn't. Raimi's version is more similar to the more older, 60s and 70s Spider-Man whilst I guess, Webb's version is more modern. I guess you can also say it's really apparent Raimi dislikes most aspects of the post 90s Spider-Man mythos such as the Venom/Eddie Brock character. It's similar to how Spider-Man's physique is portrayed. Sometimes he looks pretty damn buff like Tobey and sometimes he looks more skinnier and lean like Andrew. [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] American superhero comics has many things but consistency is hard to find.
But who the fuck can dodge a bullet while they're hurtling through the air, that's not agility, that's goddamn telekinesis.
Technically no one in the Spider-Man films are actually 'dodging' bullets Matrix Style. The movie Spider-Man is fast but he's not that fast. What Raimi Spider-Man is doing is dodging the aim of the gunmen, making it 'impossible' to hit him in the first place. So if you were hurtling through the air, in a direction that the bullet will miss, then you just 'dodged' it. [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] Webb's Spider-Man also did the same thing when that police officer shot at him with his pistol.

You can't control your flight when you're jumping, you can't step to the side when you're already in mid-air.

You can't control your flight when you're jumping, you can't step to the side when you're already in mid-air.
He isn't in a perpetual jump. Since the guy has web-shooters and (I guess?) spidey sense, he should be able to maneuver in such a way that should make it impossible for a normal guy to even hit, let alone keep him in his sights longer than a second. Raimi Spider-Man did it by swinging all over the place + acrobatics in mid-air and so does the comic Spider-Man.
How about we just accept they all have their ups and downs, even Spider-Man 2 isn't the shining pinnacle of movie perfection people like to say it is. Let's just agree that other people don't have the same opinion as us and move on, is that too hard to ask?
This discussion has gone way off-topic and I apologise. We'll just have to agree to disagree about the quality of the Raimi films (especially the second one for me) compared to ASM.
because willem dafoe injecting himself with mystery fluid and then becoming mr. split personality insane man in an iron man suit was so much less ridiculous?
Hey, at least he didn't record himself explaining his plans and then left the video on loop. I found ASM very mediocre. The one thing I did like was Spidey cracking more jokes but Garfield's Peter was bad. Before you say anything I didn't like Maquire's, too, that one seemed like a pansy most of the time. But I'm mildly optimistic about ASM2, although the CGI looks dodgy.
because willem dafoe injecting himself with mystery fluid and then becoming mr. split personality insane man in an iron man suit was so much less ridiculous?
except the raimi spiderman movies never took themselves too seriously. They were what comic book movies should be: fun and hammy. dafoe goblin is enjoyable because he never feels out of place in the movie. lizard is fucking stupid because ASM tries to be a "gritty" and "realistic" portrayal of Spiderman but then you have this fucking goofy ass CGI lizard with a man-face who wants to turn all of New York into lizards (did ron paul write this???)
Saw several new posts, came in expecting new info on the movie. Sad day.
Mmmmm I dunno, its just another super hero film with good vs bad. Such films have a simple narrative with very little meat on the bone and whilst I love a bit of cabbage time as much as the next person, these films are coming out too often and its all getting a bit old and boring. Whats next? Superman vs Spiderman or Batman butt fucking Thor?

It was also an opinion which is what you do when you post on a forum. I reserve the right to post what I think regardless of whether you agree or not. You did the same and thats ok. Now I will deal with your reply. You claim that everybody is trying too hard to make non cliche films nowadays. This is certainly not the case because a tidalwave of generic superhero films are filling the box office and this is obviously what people want because they are the biggest grossing films. I got bored of these films a long time ago and I would like risk takers and artists with original ideas to be given a wider platform to promote their films. Variety is the spice of life and the wider the spectrum of filmaking becomes, then the more interesting the collective canvas is. Too many remakes, rehashes, sequels and play it safe cgi circlejerks have dumbed down the cinema. Von Trier, Nolan (when he's doing something original) and a good group of other directors and writers are making modern classics. I wonder how many of these hero films will be in classic top 100 lists in 10 years to come?
I articulated my opinion

Whats next? Batman butt fucking Thor?

I made a sarcastic comment to express an opinion, what part of my posts did you not understand?
original ideas to be given a wider platform to promote their films
And how is what they're doing not original? When has this ever happened? When has an entire universe built over more than 50 years been recreated on the silver screen? One of the movies they're making has a talking raccoon that uses a machine gun and teams up with a tree, and yet you complain that they don't try anything new? Perhaps you're assuming that just because they're adaptations of comic books, they're not original? Or do you really think every single superhero movie is nothing but "good vs bad"? Because then I suggest you watch a couple more of them. Watchmen deals with a lot more than good vs bad. Super deals with a lot more than good vs bad. TDK actually deals with good vs bad but on so many different levels it's not even funny. And even if they do have that cliche, when has that ever stopped other movies from being good? Is that, in your opinion, the only thing that makes movies unique or enjoyable? Because then, you have a very limited range of what you think is "good". I mean, can you even look at movies like Iron Man without thinking that it couldn't possibly be enjoyable as it has a generic plot? And do you even consider rating Raimi's Spider-man trilogy without its predictableness clouding your judgement? There's more to movies than just not knowing that the good guys are gonna win. I'm not gonna pretend that there are no bad superhero movies. Of course, there's stuff like Man of Steel, which feels bland and heartless, or TASM itself, which is nothing more than a CGI-fest cash grab, but you're wrong if you assume every modern superhero flick is and will be like that.
I wonder how many of these hero films will be in classic top 100 lists in 10 years to come?
You'll be in your what, 245th alt? 10 bucks says we'll have at least 5 movies in most of those lists
I've seen piles of these things. I agree with your first part completely as there are great films like the Watchmen which was on a level of its own, nothing has come out like it. TDK was another big hitter that set a new standard, no issue with that. As for this other pile of Marvel/Superman/X-men crap, I've not seen anything thats even made my nipples twitch. Then the second run of hero sequels, from what little I've seen it appears to be business as usual, the same old shit. On the classics lists, you think many of these Marvel films will really be considered classics in time to come? No way.
For fuck's sake this thread has gone to shit We get it, you have differing opinions, this is not discussing the Amazing Spider-Man film franchise apart from saying "X is crap, Y is better"
I really don't get this idea that ASM tries to be gritty. Neither film series is gritty nor does it pretend to be. ASM is just shot with a lot of dark reds and blues. That's really the only darkness in it. Honestly I can sit down and enjoy both film series. It's fucking Spiderman. He's the man. There's really no need to like one and smear the other.

no, nolan's trilogy made people think superhero films can't be cheesy i mean yes yes, there's all the new marvel stuff out there, but even that is way more dark and realistic than say, x-men 2 or raimi's spider-man
I thought Nolan's Batman trilogy took us past that
for you
