they also say an avengers crossover would only happen when they're absolutely out of ideas, which they claim to be very far from.
i mean these guys can't just take a hint
you think people wouldn't keep asking about it if they didn't want it?
jesus the title of the interview is literally about spider-man and the avengers
also avi arad basically said they're only going to do it when they milked spider-man dry, as if rebooting him wasn't enough

I mean, I'm reading the reviews for TASM2 in rotten tomatoes, and even the positive ones have bad things to say about it. like, they're all "there may be hope for this franchise", "despite its shortcomings", "although it lacks", "it's not X"...
-snip-
I wouldn't mind them getting their sinister 6/venom movie down, and TASM 3 introducing carnage and all of that.
Then by that time it should be near phase 3 of the avengers, so they could start doing cameo's for each universe. Leading up to the supposed battle with thanos in the Avengers 3
I feel Spiderman is popular enough and has enough great characters to be able to function pretty well as it's own universe. I feel they're planning and creating the Spiderman universe a lot better than they did with the X-men universe which is full of convoluted plot holes (and really shit stories).
I think Avengers has spoilt people. Before Avengers was coming about Sinister 6 was always an exciting dream we thought would never quite happen. We're getting a WHOLE MOVIE just for Venom too. Massive hints Carnage is going to be in a Venom film alongside that. Everything people have ever wanted from Spiderman is coming about.
But until he's tacked on to a film with The Avengers (a comic he was never properly part of anyway) then people won't be happy.
i just hope they change actors for spider-man by the time a crossover comes around.
i want JK Simmons back
they actually mention jameson in this one a couple times
i just hope they change actors for spider-man by the time a crossover comes around.
I kind of hope they don't try crossing over into the Avengers with Spider-Man. Instead I hope they have their own little sub-cinematic universe crossing over with the likes of Daredevil or even the Fantastic Four.
Damn, that really sounds not that good.
The movie wasn't bad. It just felt like it was all over the place at times, and a much of the dialogue and character interactions had a strange, unnatural feeling to it. Especially between Parker and Osborn, who also felt underdeveloped as a character. Electro less so, because it was evident that he was completely whack, but you still fall somewhat short of understanding his motivations, other than that he was practically shit on by everyone in his life. Osborn just didn't feel like a real character at all, except when he and Parker were being pals, and after he had gone insane (which DeHaan does extremely well).
It also felt like it needed some streamlining, and some of the time wasted on inconsequential subplots during the climax could have been used to further develop characters. Shoving in scenes with ordinary people being heroes during the climax just felt forced, and they had zero impact or relevance to the plot. Rhino was also completely insignificant and was only there to set up the sequel (misleading ads, much?).
The best thing about the movie is easily the way it looks. Vibrant colours and crisp images. It looks and feels very much like a comic book, and I think it feels like a natural evolution from the Raimi trilogy. All the actors also did their parts well, I think, and the reason that much of it felt 'off' is because of the way it was written. I don't know if they tried to emulate comic book dialogue or whatever. Also a little too fancy camera angles/movement at times, but again, probably because they tried to emulate a comic book. It probably looks more natural in 3D, I don't know.
[sp]Gwen Stacy's back breaking and death was really well done. You could just feel dat snap.[/sp]

daredevil is a possibility since marvel owns it now and they are producing a netflix series with him, but fox needs to burn to the ground to get the ff back.
Really, now that the results are in that this new movie is just okay, I honestly just want the rights to revert back to Marvel.
No matter what Sony does with it, it's impossible for them to do anything that would be more interesting than what Marvel could do with it.
tbh i agree with you, marvel are on such a winning streak at the moment
One thing I noticed in the film, and it's probably just because I kind of look out for it, is that interruptions felt genuine. I love it when characters actually talk over one another and interruptions don't feel planned.

[sp]It felt really satisfying (That's weird to say). But I thought it was going to be this really shitty *snap* like Javert's death in Les Mis. Instead we get this dull thud and it's amazing. Did her back break? I thought that the web caught her waist but her head still slammed into the floor[/sp]
The marketing absolutely shouldn't have included Goblin and Rhino. Webb seemed to introduce them as treats. Surprises.
Dane DeHaan killed it. He was a masterclass to watch. [sp]His Goblin was exciting and full of potential. Shame we didn't see more of him as the iconic villain[/sp]
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Shame that [sp]The Goblin didn't get more screen time, Staceys death was done very well. I can't help but feel the film suffered for trying to cram so much extended universe in there.[/sp]
just saw it
it was okay, my favourite scene was [sp] the first electro scene with the song that was supposed to be his thoughts, pretty great [/sp]
I especially enjoyed the humorous elements. Scenes with Spidey buddying up with the Emergency services were really fun, him in a firefighters helm was a really nice touch.
Any of you see the 3D version? If so, is the 3D worthwhile or should I just skip and watch the 2D version?

3D always hurt my eyes in most of the action scenes, but for the slower moving scenes it was okay, but still, more of a gimmick and not really worth it, just my opinion.

The only way 3D works without hurting your eyes is with 48 FPS, like the Hobbit movies had it.

It was improved since the last film. A lot more pops out. But it ends up looking even more like a video game. 3D just highlights how unrealistic the CGI is, whereas in 2D it can blur past you.
Also there isn't much action going on. There's a big action set piece near the start and one near the end. Lord knows why they had a trailer called "Villains unite" as I dare say an actual villain appears until about 30 minutes in. And then not again until 30 minutes before the end. The majority of the film is focused on Parker and Osbourne investigating their own individual things. It's probably better in 2D.
i enjoyed this movie
i don't know about anyone else, but i enjoyed the shit out of this. electro was handled well. he's just constantly shat on, then manipulated again. you can feel the pain, and the chanting songs expressing his thoughts were pretty unique and nicely done. the GG and Rhino were some really nice treats leading to the Sinister Six, so thankfully we'll see a lot more of them in the future. All in all, I was incredibly happy with it. Left it feeling pretty damn happy to see the franchise is going in such a good direction. Marvel really are on a winning streak.
Okay, what the fuck happened? I was very disappointed by the first Amazing Spider-Man and I had very low expectations for this one. Maybe that helped but I'm still surprised how much I actually enjoyed this movie. There was really only one moment which took me out of it and that was how [sp]Harry single-handedly freed Electro. Also that German scientist was a bit weird.[/sp] It's strange how much the ads were misleading. Personally, it was a good choice because you couldn't predict every scene (that being said, ASM2 has a very basic structure with few twist(s)).
When it comes to Harry I remember him from cartoons and comics being pretty socially awkward. The film version, given the background we saw, is different and I can understand his actions due to this new personality. [sp]Also his Green Goblin was pretty radical for the amount of time he was on screen. Another surprise.[/sp]
Electro was handled well in my opinion and his design was awesome (no starfish, aww). His motivation was simple which made sense seeing his previous life. [sp]Not saying every nerdy outcast would turn into a maniac, you could clearly notice he was crazy/disturbed to begin with.[/sp]
A number of scenes made me feel some emotion which I can't say about ASM1 at all. Peter acted more confident which helped a lot. The CGI looked more polished than in the trailers and I didn't feel like I was watching a video game. The rumored new crane scene, the plane scene, was far, far more tolerable. To me it was a non-issue, really.
I'll say this again, I had zero trust in this movie and I think it's worth a watch. I guess it's too soon to say, I need to rewatch both movies but I'd place it on the same place as SM2 as my favourite Spidey movie.
Lastly, give us fucking Jameson.
i saw this and didn't like it
harry was a good character but [sp]the goblin was just shoehorned in. did they really need 2 main villains? it also seemed like they made such a big deal out of the goblin (not just in advertisements but in the movie itself), and turns out he only has one scene in the movie.
also, electro was indeed handled really well, but was there any reason at all for him to be the main villain in the movie? why not the goblin, who's not only a classic spider-man villain, but is also a character who has more personal connections to spider-man/peter parker?[/sp]
[editline]26th April 2014[/editline]
the dialogue also felt forced and there were way too many random speeches
[editline]26th April 2014[/editline]
the cinematography was pretty interesting though
ye, me neither. Another element that felt bland to me was the whole [sp]Richard and Mary's past and death[/sp].

A problem of not having all the Marvel rights. We lose out on the Red Skull story and Wolverine and SHIELD. Instead some workplace conspiracy which doesn't come close to matching up.
ur talking about this, right?

I just saw it today, I loved it very much. I wouldn't really change a whole lot about it, I don't think, besides maybe some more Goblin time, but I was satisfied with how they handled Electro and Harry and [sp]Gwen's Death[/sp]
Super happy about it, can't wait for the next movie.
Wow, was I disappointed. Apart from some things like Electro (and even then his arc was dropped halfway through the movie so he could be an one-dimensional villain), this movie was pretty much a mess of plots and characters which reeks of trying to build up an universe like Marvel's, except missing the point and just stuffing it full of 'easter eggs' and 'villains'- which were more like petulant crybabies (I want attention! I want your blood!) blaming it on Spider-Man for some reason.
Here's something I didn't get, for example. [sp]Harry wanted Spider-Man's blood, right? So when he got the venom which made Spider-Man... why did he go after him? Why not go after the execs which tried to take Oscorp from him?[/sp]
[editline]2nd May 2014[/editline]
Also, Oscorp still has Disney ride narration!
