Basically this, though I've grown a bit tired of Municipal Waste. You can't deny it, they are kind of samey.

Also I would like to call SOAD Alternative Crossover Neo-Thrash
True, but I only discovered them like a week ago and until they grow old they rule :v:
Also The Black Dahlia Murder are a good band. They're melodeath, not deathcore.
No one
ever
call them
deathcore
please
According to their MySpace page, their sound is influenced by Carcass, At the Gates, Darkane, Dissection, Darkthrone, Morbid Angel, The Haunted, In Flames, Dimension Zero, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Megadeth. Vocalist Trevor Strnad alternates between deep, throaty "death metal growls," and high pitched shrieking. When asked to describe what kind of music the band plays, vocalist Trevor Strnad commented: "I've always said that we're melodic death metal. We are mostly influenced by Swedish bands and Carcass. The heavy end of our sound is the American style creeping in, with some Floridian influences like Morbid Angel, Malevolent Creation and that kind of stuff. We've been labeled more often because of our look than our sound, which is dumb, and speaks volumes about what kind of geniuses are out there!"
:colbert:
It's like calling At The Gates deathcore. Admittedly TBDM's high vocals aren't as growled and have a cleaner screamy sound... Or, something, hard to describe, as most melodeath, but they're still melodeath.

Metallica Black Almbum <3
None of those are metal except Megadeth and Metallica. Tool and Nine Inch Nails are still awesome though
Metallica Black Almbum <3
I am sorry but Kill 'Em All was, is and always will be FAR superior to the Black album. The Black album was the sign of Metallica's decline into a hard rock era. Their first album is a fucking masterpiece. Violent, dirty, harsh and aggressive, a thrash/speed metal legend. Black is just nothing compared to that.
lets get some real metal in this thread

None of them.
Out of the bands in the OP, I'd have to go with Metallica.

I think that 1989 Seattle performance is one of THE best performances ever done by any band ever
Tool, though they are more like rock
Tool has alternative rock, rock, metal, and some screamo. Their music exists in a lot of music catagories.
[editline]09:01AM[/editline]
tool aint metal man
NIN is industrial of course
and SOAD is "alt metal" which isn't actually metal (hardcore punk) ):
Tools music exists in more than one genre of music, INCLUDING metal.

SOAD isn't remotely thrash and neo thrash isn't a genre
also municipal waste is supposed to be "samey" ever listened to DRI?
[editline]11:04AM[/editline]
Megadeth
The Sword
Slayer
Dream Theater (I don't think this really counts as metal though)
Between The Buried and Me (Or this)
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Ozzy
PANTERA
DT is prog metal so yeah
[editline]11:05AM[/editline]
Metal is too diverse a genre to ask people between five bands, two of which are remotely in the metal style. Unless, of course, you're asking for our picks. In which case...
Anacrusis

This topic makes me rage. So much not-metal/bad-metal in here.

No, but I don't see how that has to do with anything
No, but I don't see how that has to do with anything
because Municipal Waste and DRI basically play the same thing. Just short super fast crossover thrash. The point of bands like that is to just play music like that. I was asking because if you listened to DRI you should understand Municipal Waste but I guess since you haven't it doesn't matter.

Pretty much your comment makes me rage about this thread and about metal in general
Slayer

[editline]01:29AM[/editline]
All bands in the OP are good, even if some aren't metal.
Megadeth
Out of metal as a whole. Skagos and Opeth
Skagos is fucking amazing.

Thread needs more Blind Guardian.
