Wow, this is bad.
And the main character is a faggot.
It's obvious they're trying to merge Bayonetta-esque gameplay with MG and it's turning out to be awful. Leave Bayonetta to its own series. If you want a sequel to that, make Bayonetta 2.
A lot of people would be happier with MG sticking to stealth.
This reminds me of that nightmare minigame from MGS3 mixed with Bayonetta and shiny graphics.
I... I... kind of like it if I just look away from the fact it has "Metal Gear" in the title.
Not going to be getting this now, it looks fucking terrible.
When I saw the long, drawn-out "REVENGEANCE" thing at the end the first time, I could barely breathe from how much I was laughing. They still expect us to take this seriously? The entire video made it look like something I could pluck out of a bargain bin at a local B&M store and finish in one sitting, with a little physics gimmick slapped on as a minor distraction.
And say what you like about the astoundingly overwritten, over-the-top and generally stupid plot of the Metal Gear games, at least it had some degree of subtlety in the art style that made it somewhat bearable to sit through. This just looks like they made a game based off of one of the many schlock "swordfighting" animes from the 90's.
It's really a bit sad because, as much as I like to rag on the plot of the games, I do quite like the Metal Gear franchise, but this is not Metal Gear. MGS4's version of MGO was more of a Metal Gear game than this.
WELL Metal Gear SOLID 5 is lurking somewhere far into the horizon, so don't feel to bad about a spin-off game based on Raiden. There's people who like that too!

Why cant they just remake this.

Also, about the radical change in gameplay. Note how the subtitle (I'm acting as though the new one does not exist, mind you) now says Lightning Bolt Action as opposed to Solid's Tactical Espionage Action.
Kojima himself said he wanted to try something new in the same universe.

I cant bear to listen through the hammy anime speech in the trailer again.
People keep bitching: Ohhh fuck this its not snake, Ohhh fuck waaaaahhh wheres my stealth, too japanese, etc.
You haven't even played the fucking game yet. Stfu, respect Kojima's track record and his effort to do something new and innovative.

Kojima is producing. Not part of the active dev team.
There is no denying that the 2010 version shown to us is inifintely better than a pseudo-sequel to Bayonetta.
People really do hate change huh. All of you who are basically voting it off as shit already always act like this when a game series suddenly has a game in a different genre?
Also,

They couldn't do the Gameplay, so they got Platinum games to do it for them.
The fighting looks so weird, the first trailer made it looks so awesome with gore and that stuff.
I've lost all my interest in this game now.
The last MGS game I played was about stealth.
What the hell happened.
Can you even read? This isn't a solid game and it isn't snake, you don't have to be stealthy.
-shit-
The combat looks like No More Heroes
They made the cutting not look fun anymore
The problem is swords intended for cutting are almost too effective against something that can only be cut into two pieces once before dying. If you're a guy that's equally as vulnerable it balances out, but if you can cut one of your arms off and still have the strength to move a ship then you have to make sure the enemies can take more than one hit. Which means an ultra-sharp blade becomes little more than a baseball bat that can phase through people's bodies a bunch of times before they finally react to it the way you'd expect.
I think it would be better to make human-sized enemies cannon fodder in a game like this and have the real threat come from either an extremely large number of them in one area, or some really big enemies that one would expect to be able to take more than a few swipes with a sword. Kind of like Serious Sam, but with swords.
But I guess the developers never think of that.
"Yeah!!"
"This is just a warm up!!"
"Take THIS!!!"
"uguu~"
My problem isn't the gameplay they're going for, but how they executed it.
The old footage was so much better.
