Over the weekend while I was out of town we got into this huge fuck off argument on the difference between an "anthro fan" and a "furry", with them telling me that "anthro fan" is someone who is into the artwork but not the sex and a furry is into the sex and the two groups have an overlap, like a vehn diagram. On that scale, the idea of the "census" so to speak on furry sexual activity that was taken where furries claimed 11% of their kind are the only ones into the sexual aspect is probably true. Who here didn't like Looney Toons and Starfox and TMNT and Robin Hood and other "funny animal" or at least "anthropomorphic" shows and games and comics and movies? On the other hand, only those sick fucks are masturbating to porn of things we cherish. I figured it was a good enough definition for me.
I figure with the friends that I've made in the fandom and how some of them act, and by that I mean they're at least decent, I'll probably still talk to a few furs... most people know me as Skunk so I'll still go by that and I still like skunks and more than likely I'll still collect skunk related things like plush animals and artwork. I'll probably continue to go to furry conventions if invited, but they wouldn't be as important in my mind...
I stuck around... ten years... it seems more like a life time. I know I stuck around longer than the rest of the Burned Furs, who jumped ship a long time ago... and while I've tried and tried and tried again to stop the spread of what I honestly consider a disease of common decency and morality this forum thread, along with the conversation I had with friends over the weekend and some serious thought and a little Jager, has allowed me to come to this decision. And go through with it. And I really hope that eventually the people I've met through the fandom slowly... fade away.
I'm no longer a member of the furry fandom. They've finally... sickened me to the point I don't care. I have plenty of other interests, skunks in general I just like. I mean I had someone tell me this weekend she likes foxes, has fox tattoos, fox artwork, fox plushies, fox everything... but she's not a furry... she doesn't even like anthros, just foxes. Actually, she does like werewolves, but that's a completely different reason involve pen, paper and dice. The point is, why should I tie myself to this sinking ship hoping I can pull it out of the freezing waters while the passengers and crew are the people who killed my grandmother and raped my dog while pouring sugar into my gas tank? Figuratively of course.
I'm just... done with it.
