If you see large groups of youths in tracksuits approach them with a friendly manner and ask how they're doing
It works here in Aus, so I'm sure it would be the same in the UK! :v:
I live in Bournemouth. Come here if you like old people and seeing almost every type of weather once per day.
Make sure to bring a machete in case somebody pulls out a knife on you.
We have the same points system for visas as you if you're outside of the EU. Luckily for you, as you're Australian, you won't automatically be hated for not being born here. Everyone else does, even Canadians as we often mistake them for Americans
London is huge, diverse and multi-cultural, so it's quite hard to tell you what to expect. Nights out are usually fun in the UK (guys shut up and admit it). Most of the time it's chill to just go up to some people or girls at a pub/club and start a random conversation, you might end up spending the night partying with them. Drinking, smoking and getting smashed is what most people on nights out, brits are quite crazy when it comes to that. Try going to some medium size university-cities for some real fun (Brighton is great and close to London, or try Edinburgh). You could really meet some crazy people. It's probably like this in most places of the world, I can't really find anything unique to say about the UK nightlife except get have fun, meet people and get pissed. People are generally nice to foreigners (a part from maybe polish and eastern europeans...) and have the weird habit of talking shit about the UK, and the'll most likely advise you to leave and say you're crazy for having come here. I've never been to Australia, I've only lived in Malta, Italy and now the UK so by my standards I find it a nice and fun place to live. Beware though, London is expensive as fuck.
University cities are the best, you get all the fun people and no bullshit. Stay out of suburbs.
It's my dream to live in London. But i will probably not have the money for it unfortunately.
whatever you do don't go to derby or the east midlands in general in fact
Harsh, I grew up in Derbyshire, it's not that bad a place. Belper's nice.
Harsh, I grew up in Derbyshire, it's not that bad a place. Belper's nice.
Yeah the surrounding towns and villages might be nice but Derby literally had nothing to offer, that's why I moved to Plymouth.
Everywhere but London is shit.
Everywhere but London is shit.
Said nobody ever
Birmingham's good for accessibility, and it's nightlife is decent depending on where you're going, and there are quite a few good restaurants as far as work's concerned. However, it's not very good for much else. There are a few nice places to live for not too much money, but the amount of council estates far outweighs the decent areas. I'm not saying steer clear, but there are much better places. Also our accent is unbearable, I'm so lucky my parents are from the south. Good curries though.
Come to Belfast if you like riots and/or laughing at funny accents.
If you see large groups of youths in tracksuits approach them with a friendly manner and ask how they're doing
I'll ask them for a spare smoke.
Come to wales, we have stuff and sheep sodomy apparently
the accent is infectious, my aunt lived there for only 2 years and had it within the first 2 months
the accent is infectious, my aunt lived there for only 2 years and had it within the first 2 months
Don't want to get rid of my Aussie accent though!
the accent is infectious, my aunt lived there for only 2 years and had it within the first 2 months
I will prepare a recording of Aussie conversations and play it to myself as I sleep so hopefully I'll keep my Australian accent.
I live in Bournemouth.
I went there once fucking imax ruining everything never again
I will prepare a recording of Aussie conversations and play it to myself as I sleep so hopefully I'll keep my Australian accent.
Don't worry, we have Neighbours and Home And Away every day, just watch that :v:
Don't worry, we have Neighbours and Home And Away every day, just watch that :v:
Worst Australian television, actually it's the most likely the only Aussie television, and it's still incredibly shit.
Harsh, I grew up in Derbyshire, it's not that bad a place.
Belper is alright for old people to move to before they die, but places like Ilkeston/Cotmanhay are absolute shitholes thats why i'm going to brighton and never coming back
Ilkeston needs to be nuked from orbit.
London is a pretty terrible city. It's ugly as hell and the only friendly people you'll find are the ones trying to bum a fag on the tube in the early morning. The rest of the South is full of old people for the most part, although Brighton and Southampton are alright. The East/West are inbred. Parts of the midlands are nice, Birmingham is alright cos they have a funny accent, but avoid Leicester/Derby like the plague they have no redeeming qualities. Nottingham is nice though. Hull is bad if you like having your sexual health intact. Liverpool has a great nightlife and awesome Irish community, and York and Lincoln are extremely pretty cities. Avoid Newcastle, you'll get stabbed. Edinburgh is a nice city too. In short go to large cities apart from London, or just go to Afghanistan. I hear Kabul is nice this time of year and as an Aussie you're less likely to get stabbed there.
Ilkeston needs to be nuked from orbit.
Hopefully they'll wait until I'm out of there.
UK is shit. People are shit. Places are shit. Weather is shit. Economy is shit. Countryside is good. Live in a bale of hay with no human contact and you'll be fine.
People are shit.
Thanks.
Liverpool's a great place to go for a few nights out. Granted, it has it's rough areas with it being a major city but you'll have so much fun, especially if you already know some people. Push comes to shove, you can meet up with me and my crew when we hit town. Every city here has it's own stereotype btw, with Liverpool's being that you'll get your car stolen

If you move out of Birmingham to some of the nicer suburbs (Sutton Coldfield, Solihull etc) its not too bad. The city center is pretty small and nightlife is a little chavvy, but other than that it's not a bad city.
