I've seen homosexuals doing that. (howls/catcalling dudes)
I'll admit that its pretty uncomfortable receiving catcalls from strangers, probably more so for me because few people have ever seemed interested in me so I'm unfamiliar in that area.
Damn, the crying got to me a bit. I don't like how she was jumping to conclusions near the end, but this opened my eyes a little.
I fuckin hate that argument. Yes, in a perfect society women would be able to wear whatever they want without attracting unwanted attention. But we don't live in a perfect world. If you're wearing skimpy cloths, then you have a higher chance of attracting the creeps, weirdos and rapists. You don't wear your expensive watch/cloths to the shitty part of city because you're going to get mugged. It's the same idea.
And no, it's not slut shaming, victim blaming, rape culture, it's just common sense.
I see your point and I don't disagree with you. This video is more towards changing people's mentalities so that they have an understand of what is right and wrong and more importantly why. Yes there will always be muggers and rapists and general assholes but some people can be prevent from becoming those if they understand what they are doing is wrong.
no one howls or catcalls a dude running without a shirt on, no one considers a dude "slutty" for being scantily dressed, or beyond that puts down a guy for having a copious amount of sex
Don't exaggerate. Some people do those things, and I'm assuming you are one of them. Most people don't no, but saying "no one does" is just a flat out lie.
no one howls or catcalls a dude running without a shirt on, no one considers a dude "slutty" for being scantily dressed, or beyond that puts down a guy for having a copious amount of sex
Of course nobody calls men sluts, every man in the history of man has wanted to bang a hot chick, unless you're gay, then you just want to bang a hot guy. Most guys love sex.
Or you're a-sexual, so you really like everybody but nobody equally.
Shit's complex yo. :v:

And women don't like sex? Do women not want to "bang a hot dude?" There's a double standard that's pretty hard to ignore.
I never really understood the business with shaming women for wearing certain clothes. I mean, if you are wearing two tissues and a cracker, it might be worth a "wow what the fuck", but nothing else.
When any sane straight male (or gay female) sees an attractive woman in a form-fitting or mildly revealing outfit, they go "Yeah, that's just fantastic" and then go about their day. What kind of gigantic fuck-up catcalls a woman, let alone make said catcalls about RAPE FANTASIES. I know people tend to say dumb shit when with friends but what the actual fuck.
Also I don't necessarily condone nudity being appropriate everywhere (because if I wanted to see dongs by the thousands I'd go to Chatroulette), but women should totally be able to go topless and not be frowned upon for it.
I don't really agree with this. I've had girls in my group of friends make it clear they think a certain guy is hot if he's dressed a certain way, especially during the summer time when wife beaters and shirtless is the style, either by calling out, whistling, or generally nudging all their friends.
Both men and women do it, but men's standards for doing it are a lot lower.
Agreed. Women are usually more.. Quiet about it? Or they tend to be.
Where men are always loud mouths about it. We always have been, it's pretty much in our nature. But saying stuff like "I want to rape that slut" or "rip her panties off first" that's pretty fucked up. I could only think a degenerate mind, or porn rotten mind would think those things, that all women just want to be treated like a sex object.
To be honest, I didn't watch the video. The way she talks annoys me, and it got on my nerves when she said "shut the fuck up" for the third time in the span of 2 minutes. I was just replying to that guys post, because he was quite badly wrong.

hasn't every straight woman in the history of women wanted to bang a hot guy in that case?
if it's ok for men to have copious amounts of sex, why shouldn't it be alright for women to do the same?
no one howls or catcalls a dude running without a shirt on, no one considers a dude "slutty" for being scantily dressed, or beyond that puts down a guy for having a copious amount of sex
Ummm like others have said yes they do happen and even more, hell I was on the bus last week and I work out and such and my shirts form around my arms which makes them look really good plus I was wearing shortsleeves and what happened?
Some gay guy sat beside me on the bus and kept touching me and telling me that he liked my body and I kept telling him "no, I'm straight" whatever but it didn't matter he wanted me bad and kept touching me, repeating that he really liked my body and touching my arms and legs and I felt completely uncomfortable and pissed off. Like I'm not a fucken sex toy or anything, fuck off, especially when I say no and then he just grabs my hand and says "oh your just too shy", thank god my stop was right there so I could get off but man it fucken pissed me off.
I'm not saying this happens completely often because I bet it doesn't especially compared to what girls have to deal with but don't say nothing happens to guys.
like i know shes pissed but god the way she talks is not helping, its so bitchy
still awful what happened to her though

The entire thing seems like a giant strawman though, like starting a campaign to make calling black people niggers unacceptable.
It seems only the most vulgar and crude men would even say stupid shit like that, even catcalling seems antiquated. I'm sure everyone has their own anecdotal evidence but it's obvious that this kind of behaviour is stupid and it's hardly news that the worst of society is pretty stupid.

The reason she says "shut the fuck up" is because men on the internet have an annoying tendency to say "yes but... yes but..." which is what she talks about. You should listen to the whole thing

Overplayed gestures, fake crying? I'm not seeing how it's overplayed or how they're fake. Have some empathy, for god's sake.

Because men are lacking a voice and can't be heard in society? What do you want, for women who talk about their aggressors online to invite them in their articles/vlogs?
also, before anyone says, I'm personally glad that we're living in a time where the standards set up by society are being broken in all good ways, but that doesn't mean our genes will act any different - a heterosexual man is a heterosexual man, and there's nothing wrong with that
It's not natural, it's a gender role that's pushed onto us by society & peer pressure.
I don't agree on her statement of "men can wear everything and get away with it."

That's bullshit, women can wear guy's clothes and men can't wear women's clothes without being classified as a trap

this is both an issue of transphobia in society and its fear to deviate from gender norms and feminism

Reminds me of two news articles. One about male bus or train operators (I can't remember) who wore skirts on hot days since shorts weren't allowed. The other was similar about a student who wore a skirt since shorts again weren't allowed for the dress code.
She keeps on saying "I want to live in a world where ____". Well making a fucking YouTube video and posting on Twitter isn't going to do anything. Yeah, you shouldn't get raped for drunkenly walking down a dark alley but let's face it, you might be and that's a really shitty reality that we live in.
Also, there is a stigma against men who walk around without shirts in public. It's gross and no one wants to see that. Same goes for women, I wouldn't want to see some woman walking around with her tits out. If I want to see tits, I'll hop online or tap my wife on the shoulder.
How is the human body "gross?" I mean if you've got some wicked skin disease or some kind of massive boil yeah, I could see that. But the human body itself isn't "gross."
How is the human body "gross?" I mean if you've got some wicked skin disease or some kind of massive boil yeah, I could see that. But the human body itself isn't "gross."
Walk around with a fucking shirt when you're out in public. No one wants to see your floppy titties or your hairy chest.
Nice dodging the question.
Nice dodging the question.
It isn't dodging the question, no one wants to see someone else's body unless there is consent. Now when you go to the beach, it's expected. I don't expect some fatass walking around without a shirt while going to my local Best Buy. Wear a shirt. It's the publicly acceptable thing to do.
If you do go outside and you avoid these accepted rules in society, you're going to have things like "HEY, FATASS PUT ON A GODDAMN SHIRT" and I feel that is justified.
I'm not dissing her views or anything, I think she has a lot of valid points but god this video is annoying to watch, why the fuck do people post stuff like this on the internet?

I'm pretty sure people post things like this on the Internet to make more people aware of something they think is important?
Even the fact that we're discussing it here means it's at least partially successful.

Thing is, people are mostly discussing how bitchy she is in the video. Would've been perfectly acceptable if it wasn't in such a bitchy, whiny tone.

Actually it is dodging the question, because I asked how the human body is gross. I didn't ask anything about coverage or anything, I asked how is it gross. I have no problems wearing a shirt to a store and I have no expectations for people treating me as anything except weird if I don't - or being asked to leave, for that matter.

like, do you genuinely believe that internet vlogs are going to change mysoginism in men who already are mysoginist? no, it won't
get this public, make it an accessible and relatable idea, the civil rights movement didn't work because a few black people who were mad spoke out, it was because they had great organization
and how did you come to the conclusion that I was thinking about sex, it baffles me
I think you're in the wrong when you read the sentence "heterosexual man will be a heterosexual man" and you think of "sex sex sex"
Agreed. Women are usually more.. Quiet about it? Or they tend to be.

Saying shit like "it's in our nature" does not excuse any sort of behavior for actual people. For animals it would since a MASSIVE part of their behavior is directly determined by instincts. People are much more influenced by their intellect than their instincts (though it varies by how stable they are mentally and how well educated they are). No matter how fucking instinctively you get a boner from seeing some woman with some cleavage showing, it does NOT give anyone an excuse to act like a fucking monkey.
Seriously, it's a disgrace to our entire species that we surrender to this kind of degenerative and outdated instinctive behavior. If you're helicopter drunk, your judgment goes to the shitter, I get that, but then you should also be with friends that don't condone that behavior but keep you from doing it.
I mean all this shit I hear about women being the main victim is true, but ignoring outright the issues that men have in their social expectations isn't helping. We're fucking ENCOURAGED since childhood by rolemodels in fiction and advertisements to be chick magnets, to be that charismatic Action Man character that flirts with girls using witty oneliners at every turn. THAT'S the kind of indoctrination men and boys get from their first years and that shit carries out into their adulthood where shit like what this video talks about happens.
And EVEN if you're dumb enough to submit to something as retarded as your instinctive reactions, rape is not the option. That's what fucking orangutangs do. Think about whether you want to be a mindless primate or an actual human being with some self-respect.
Human intelligence has so much untapped potential and can easily outpower any kind of instinctive urge as long as you want it to.

Why. This is another thing that pisses me off. Going around full-fledged naked in town is encroaching on the mental life of teenagers and young people so that shouldn't be a good thing, but just because someone doesn't want to wear a shirt, male or female doesn't mean they should get negative feedback instantly. We're all born with skin and bones and flesh. Showing it is not a fucking bad thing, it's a flaw in society that you should be instantly condemned by people because of this. It's as if we're trying to escape what we are, only bothering to show ourselves to our closest ones as if it was something shameful only a select people can see. That's not right, that's sick.
The equivalent is a man getting beaten for no reason at all, which I don't know how often happens over there, but it's not all that infrequent over here. I know it doesn't quite compare, but what I mean is- in any case there will always be people who want to fuck around with you for no reason.
Society in general is, however, getting better and better. Generation after generation, we are going forward. We have a better understanding of the complexity of human relations than our fathers did, and there is an immense gap between us and our grandfathers, whom lived in a society where among classes and sexes existed a set of rules one couldn't have broken.
It might be utopical, but I believe that the next big step humanity will do will be communicational, and once that will be done, there will be way more democracy and way less cases like this.
