most people won't get it hence why it's a bad emote. has literally nothing to do with it being a reference anime
Good. I think it's retarded that people felt the need to reject it for reasons other than that. whoops i'm half the page sorry about that people posting too fast for automerge
Good. I think it's retarded that people felt the need to reject it for reasons other than that.
when did anyone legit do this
Congratulations, you have pulled over an entire page to bitch about anime. Pat yourselves on the back for that. 2007 is waiting for you thataway.
It would've stopped after the first rejection post if it wasn't for you continuing to dwell on it lmao don't blame us
when did anyone legit do this
uhh, 2007?
Congratulations, you have pulled over an entire page to bitch about anime. Pat yourselves on the back for that. 2007 is waiting for you thataway.
It's not that, it's the fact little of us know what the fuck that is
All this art :fap:
All this art :fap:
the 'a' is a bit fucked, fix it fix it
with all due respect dutchman your emotes are cool and gw on them but something about the style i dont like it still to me doesn't fit within the :v: rating, feels like you've gone hard in shadowing, maybe try to lay off it? by shadowing I mean how it's not solid yellow it's like a gradient almost like a shadow, kinda thing?
It would've stopped after the first rejection post if it wasn't for you continuing to dwell on it lmao don't blame us
Sorry for overreacting then and acting pre-emptively. I'm real fucking sick of "haha anime sucks" said every single time any time the word anime is mentioned being an extremely tired joke run way the fuck into the ground for ages. It's less oppressed minority and more I'm sick of a dead horse that some people take painfully seriously. I'm dropping it like browser support of APNG as of this post.
they remind me a bit too much of those smilies you see if you go to any really niche forum
All this art :fap:
The lack of a black border on these just feels a bit odd. I think they're maybe a little too pale?
the 'a' is a bit fucked, fix it fix it
Im getting white edges as well which are buggering me to hell and back. Blaming photoshop here, would appreciate some help [editline]13th July 2015[/editline] As a reply to the art style: I posted several style concepts yesterday and based on the feedback I got these currently: Here's some of the older things for reference: Bit hesitant to change everything at this point, but if anyone comes forth with some solid suggestions and examples.. I might give it a go to shoot myself and redo them all in a newer better style.
Why try so hard to recreate the old emotes, with the only change being a :v: for the body? That's just change as appeasement, not change for originality.
white edges are caused by dithering as gifs do not support partial transparency, therefore there will be white edges where there should be smooth ones. [editline]13th July 2015[/editline] make the edges crisp.
Why try so hard to recreate the old emotes, with the only change being a :v: for the body? That's just change as appeasement, not change for originality.
But if I make it blurrier and have yellow borders, it's completely different! Either have the same thing or don't just make utterly superficial changes that make it look worse to excuse having essentially the same emote. Making it blurry and pale is the worst way to go about it anyway. [editline]14th July 2015[/editline] Either come up with a good original set of icons that conveys the same image while being original or put more effort into making knock-offs of the original icons.
I changed the colours around on the last three because the solid blacks didn't fit.
I like it. So how are we determining which emoticons become official? Or is it just the list in the OP
I'm sorry if it for some reason bothers you to merely say it but while there's nothing wrong with imitating the old emotes you should try to make something distinct and appealing that stands on its own. Otherwise you might as well just put the old emotes back in and be done with it.
So how are we determining which emoticons become official? Or is it just the list in the OP
Postal mentioned creating a poll to vote. After the vote passed and a majority gets implemented its still possible for new emotes to get added. (not 100% sure but I do reckon this thread will keep open)
So how are we determining which emoticons become official? Or is it just the list in the OP
Postal mentioned a vote thread once we get enough of one style, which should be soon thanks to Frying Dutchman

oh thanks for reminding me I made some of these
Postal mentioned a vote thread once we get enough of one style, which should be soon thanks to Frying Dutchman
So the general consensus is "the same, but paler and with no dark border"? That's pretty boring. They need more definition.
:hoff: no idea how to fix that canvas size
that's a lotta space for hoffy
I don't have a problem with an anime emote, it's just that I don't think anyone except people who have seen that specific one know what that means. If you're going to make an anime themed emote, make one that even people who don't watch anime, or even people that only seen some animes, would be able to equate to anime.
So the general consensus is "the same, but paler and with no dark border"? That's pretty boring. We're not redesigning the wheel, we're improving it imo.
So the general consensus is "the same, but paler and with no dark border"? That's pretty boring.
For you :rejpost:
-ok so apparently this is worth everybody getting upset over-
I don't have a problem with an anime emote, it's just that I don't think anyone except people who have seen that specific one know what that means.
You won't have to worry about anime emotes because there's A, nothing that really fits that definition other than maybe a DBZ joke, and B, nothing that I can conceive that would translate into an emote anyway. It's not like we're going to have general TV reference emotes either.
Then just don't make one for anime?
