Don't move near the Canadian border. We have too many immigrants as it is.
Don't come here to study. Take advantage of your free University education, then come here, so you don't end up in massive amounts of debt.
well if you have the money to study in the usa if you live in europe, it's not a bad idea because if your cv says you studied in america and you live in europe, it is usually a great sign, especially (but not only) if you have to speak English at your job. so like if I finished my school and went to america for a couple of years to a university and came back, I'd probably have cool things to list in my cv ("studied in usa", "work experience in the usa" etc) to improve my chance to get a good job.
I'd like to live in Switzerland someday. Rate me optimistics.
Maryland. I wouldn't go too far south however. Especially if you're Swedish. Also, what is with people hating on their own fucking country so much? If you don't like it, get out and go to Sudan or Rhodesia or something. Try free speech there. I personally love the US, it's just tards that make it look bad.. (Pelosi)

All in favor of this being America's second national anthem, say 'I'.
If you're going to the USA no matter what, at least go to one of the good states. (People wise) Pennsylvania. Maine. Vermont. New Hampshire. New York is also acceptable, if you're not a city person there's a lot of suburbs and farmland there as well. I recommend the suburbs of Pennsylvania. (Say, Narberth) There you will find very friendly people whos ideologies are generally similar to the ones of Facepunch: Liberal, democratic. It's also wonderful climate-wise and all in all it's a suburban heaven separated from Derpland by the good states.
I live in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA it's ok here, but nothing special, we have lots of snow and winters are really cold, and summers are really really hot and humid. Move to a warm place with lots of things to do, Miami, Las Vegas, San Fransico, New Orleans.
Orange County, CA is the best
I live in America. It isn't really that great. From what I've seen, Sweden has everything better than us.
You see it that way because you live in America instead of Sweden
Don't let people on a forum influence your decision, try it, if you don't like it move back. It's your life do what you want see if you like it. Everyone has a different opinion and specifically on this forum everyone hates the US for stupid reasons.
I hear that you automatically get citizenship if you can eat 10 big macs within 5 minutes. So get practicing!
America has a pretty tough immigration system. If you want to move here, you should really want to move here, especially if you're living in an already developed country like Sweden. Luckily Sweden and America allow dual citizenship, so you need not renounce either. I suggest starting with a work visa and seeing how you like it first. [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline]
Orange County, CA is the best
LA shits on OC every day.
If you want to stick to a mainly Swedish community, you'd like moving to Rockford here in the state of Illinois. Don't worry, our state isn't that corrupt! :v: But seriously, 20% of Rockford's population is only 3rd generation, all from Sweden.
Wow. Just wow. Someone's gotta do it. EXACTLY! Why the fuck would I think that putting things in boxes is lazy? I just said it'd be good for everyone to have the same wages. Doesn't compute. I said you are a lazy fuck because YOU said you were and not because of the fucking job you chose! Reminder as you seem to have a REALLY short memory: Wages: Payment for labor or services to a worker, especially remuneration on an hourly, daily, or weekly basis or by the piece. You would NOT get the same amount of money as everyone else every month if you sat your fat ass on your couch watching TV day in and day out!
I'm not lazy, I just have an illness that prevents me from giving effort. I should get paid extra for that from the government.
I'm not lazy, I just have an illness that prevents me from giving effort. I should get paid extra for that from the government.
Then you ain't worth nothin' to society and we'll just throw you in jail (putting in some right-wing stuff there just for flavor)
To clear some things up: I never stated that I wanted to move to California, I just pointed out that I had some relatives over there. And yeah, it would probably be easier for me to live in Sweden, but this country is going to hell in my opinion with its socialistic piece of crap government wanting everyone in this country to have the SAME salary. And sure, as I said, the USA may not be flawless, but I just love the country so much. I can't really explain why, I just do. I'm 15, by the way.
You will grow out of it. If you have to, dont come to California. Go to NYC or something. There is hardly value in friendships, and at first everybody may seem to be friendly, but they are shallow as a toddler's pool. Is it really trying to give everybody the same wage? Thats pretty good. This place isnt a land of opportunity at all, and the super-patriots are just brainwashed. Also if you do something weird prepare to be sued. My sisters boyfriend got sued because he was protecting my sister. Also you will get headaches by the stupidity of Republicans and the bible-thumpers. And if you want to save your eyes from death, dont go too far from the coast. In Cali, once you go inland like Redding, over half seemed to be morbidly obese.
ITT: angry europeans
If I could, I would trade places for a month. Always wanted to see what Sweden was like.
The Midwest is somewhat boring, but full of very friendly, real people.
The Midwest is somewhat boring, but full of very friendly, real people.
REAL people? fake people exist?
REAL people? fake people exist?
Have you ever been to West Palm?
ITT: angry europeans
angry? quality of life is better in europe. it's rather odd that he would want to move from sweden to the US. its like moving from the US to Pakistan.
If you're moving to the USA, I strongly recommend staying on the East Coast.
Be warned, girls love guys with accents like yours.
Try Egypt, i hear they have a stable Democratic Govt. with zero issues.
Best thing, the land, wilderness, natural sights, etc Worst thing, people, culture, attitudes, etc [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline]
If you're moving to the USA, I strongly recommend staying on the East Coast.
whys that
I was half interested in that until it started boo hooing that Noam Chompsky isn't in the media more.
What do you have against Chomsky?
I'll swap places with you, I live in Chicago.
Me too.
serve in irak, get a greencard and some 30 thousand worth of fighting money if you were lucky enough to get your leg blown off by a terrorist of some sort while serving, you got all the reasons in the world to move to america with your fighting money and play wow and smoke pot for the rest of your life in california
