Perhaps I can offer some help; I lived in Singapore for 8 years and have been living in America for the past 7 or so. Singapore is a really small nation and has a well developed public transit system (the MRT) so having a car isn't a necessity. The cost of living is quite high as land is scarce and most commodities must be imported. This is offset by the fact that Singapore has the busiest port in the world and is a major center of commerce in South-East-Asia. I'm not a fan of the tropical climate. It truly is a rainforest. There are two seasons; the dry season and the monsoon season. During both it is regularly around 100 Farenheit and 100% humidity. It rains every afternoon during the monsoon season. The people of Singapore are quite polite and friendly which is a cultural affect really. Generally they are approachable even as strangers. It is quite different from what I've seen of American culture which places emphasis on maintaining individuality, status, and isolation. If you have any further questions please ask. I've experienced living in Britain, America, and Singapore.
I can finally post this: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen [editline]7th April 2011[/editline] Ok fine, let me be serious. What thereisno131 says is true. If you are white, you will be the most popular kid in school. The government is fucking serious with everything, you litter you get fined, you smoke weed you get fined, you smoke below 18 you get into a boys home. Which is like a prison for teens. Gotta go out, will update when I am back.
Singapore? fuck that move to Australia
100 Farenheit? :colbert: The hottest it ever gets is about 91 F.
It feels like 100 when you factor in the humidity. My apologies for being off by a few degrees. http://www.accuweather.com/en-us/sg/singapore/singapore/quick-look.aspx?cityid=300597 Accuweather wrote a calculator called "RealFeel" that determines how hot it feels at the current time. You can see that right now in Singapore the "RealFeel" temperature is 105 Farenheit. This is because at higher levels of humidity your bodies ability to lose excess heat through the evaporation of sweat is severely hampered.
let's stick to what they put on the weather forecast
USA is getting buttfucked and my family wants to move to Singapore!
"My god the mosquitoes here in Florida are terrible, that's it, we're moving to Brazil."
Internet is terrible, like most of under-developed nations. Expect dial up or slow DSL.
It's Singapore, not Cambodia. Come on, it's quite developed, and its economy is more stable than the US. [editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
oh rly, i had no idea :downs:. y'know, thats kinda expected from a country with higher population than all of europe combined. and you know why so many people choose to live here? because it's the best country in the world. [editline]7th April 2011[/editline] you're right, it's actually a fourth-world country. (User was permabanned for this post ("Alt of permabanned user" - Craptasket))
Also, get your facts straight bro. Europe: 730.000.000+ USA: 308,745,538 I see why people would want to listen to you.

Singapore has a very developed infrastructure
As far as I know, Singaporean telecommunication/internet is extremely good. Their crime rate is so goddamn low. Their authorities is very-very reliable. Their infrastructure is very well developed. Things I personally like about Singapore, -Modern -English speaking -Sim Lim Square, the best place to get computer parts and stuff. Just look at this building.
Singapore? fuck that move to Australia
Meant to rate Disagree.
No natural disasters, but we are extremely reliant on foreign countries, so we are very prone to economy disasters. Internet is fine, we have unlimited bandwidth, pretty cheap, if you are interested, check Starhub or Singnet, our prime internet service providers. However, don't expect big gaming communities for paid games, most people play free games here. Cost of living is pretty standard, really depends on how you live though. Any more questions you want to ask?
OP give me your address and i will go to my grandpa's house, cross the border and slap your face for no reason(if you move to Singapore) [editline]7th April 2011[/editline] yeah even with Singapore+Malaysia we don't have a huge amount players i would say the amount is okay not sure about games that are not popular though
:words:
hey do the game stores in your country sell original games(i'm assuming it does not sell pirated games)
I love how your family is deciding to move from a country with the rights of free speech, religious tolerance, and absolute wealth to a poor country in the middle of Asia.
I love how your family is deciding to move from a country with the rights of free speech, religious tolerance, and absolute wealth to a poor country in the middle of Asia.
It ain't all rainbows and sunshine, sunshine.

Anyone else notice a trend of threads where the OP says, "US is getting horrible, thinking of moving somewhere else, ideas?" It's like when you were a kid and professed you were "running away from home," only this time they have access to a computer. Think there's something wrong with the country that needs to be fixed? Do something about it, running is the coward's way out.
oh forget it i'm too lazy to cross the border and buy a game
only number 1 in crime rates and obesity
fixed
My mom was born in Norway but grew up in Singapore, due to her father being an english teacher. She liked, and I'm interested in traveling there sometime.
oh forget it i'm too lazy to cross the border and buy a game
You Malay or something?

"lol emigrating" is a big decision not to be taken lightly, have you ever thought about that? HMMmm?
