What? How?
Me too, lets me bro's.
I can't look at him without thinking of Napoleon Dynamite
I can't look at him without thinking about his days as Larrabe Hicks in My Best Friend is an Alien (I was a 6th Grade Alien, for Americans), holding his Speckled Woodchuck.
I like how nobody stops to consider that maybe HE doesn't want to, but he's reccomended to take the roles by the people that get paid to give him advice like that. If he keeps doing movies like that he'll be able to retire young and try something else, or keep acting. You don't seem to realize that this IS his job. Do you think people working at a store always like their job? No. Do they do the same things over and over? Sometimes. Do they get critizised because they always mop the same isles and never try moping another isle? No, they just do their damn job and live with it. Cera does his job and makes a bunch of money and gets girls on top of it, I'm sure he's happy where he is right now regardless of if he's tired of being typecasted, it isn't like he'll never get his chance to try something else
I have yet to see the movie, but I hope to my grave that the characters from the books aren't portrayed as hipsters in the movie. If so, fuck it.

They aren't, although when [sp]Knives gets dumped she calls Ramona a hipster and tries to be more like her like dying her hair to win Scott back[/sp]
You really can't hate Michael Cera. I mean yes he is typecasted as the socially awkward kid, but there's nothing he can do about it. That's how the movie industry works.
I don't see how it's bad for someone to stick with what they're good at.
Kurtwood Smith is good at playing assholes/evil guys and far as I've seen that's what he is in most of his films.

Also Schwarzenegger, Stallone, and Eastwood all play action heroes most of the time.

Same goes for Rowan Atkinson who mostly plays silly roles, Jim Carrey acting like a clown in every movie (not that he isn't entertaining), Johnny Depp having an eccentric, slightly feminime character almost all the time and, let's say, Leslie "Poker face" Nielsen.
The key word here is "mostly", all of the above played in at least one more serious movie where they acted differently, and I've yet to see Cera playing a role other than the "shy guy".
My hate for this guy is purely cosmetic, and also somewhat bit attributed to his voice.
Sure, maybe some of the movies he's in are good, but if i don't like the main character, i typically won't like the movie.
I mean seriously, just look at his fucking face.

LOOK AT IT.
He may be famous, he may get laid because of his status, but it does NOT take away from the fact that i want to stab him in the eye. I would equally hate him if he was a normal kid.

Schwarzenegger isn't that great of an actor. It's his personality that's amazing.
Eastwood does break out of the role several times and he gives an outstanding performance in all of his movies.
I haven't watched many Stallone movies.

You obviously haven't seen one of Jim Carrey's finer movies such as Truman show or The Number 23 (really shows what he is capable of as an actor).
Johnny Depp, slightly feminime what I don't think you know what you're talking about.

the only thing more overdone than michael ceras character are the jokes about it
Yes, there are a couple actors out there that play similar roles, but at least their characters have some degree of individualism in those roles. Michael Cera's career has gotten so linear(i.e. almost literally the exact same character every movie) to the point where I don't see, Scott, Nick, or any other role he plays, I just see Cera.
He played a serious role in Behind Enemy Lines as a fighter plane navigator.
Then again, this is the only remotely serious movie I remember him playing in.

Even then his character was still trying to be funny/cocky at times. Not saying its a bad movie.
Superbad was an annoying-as-shit movie. Basically everything the OP described, along with "we're gonna say 'fuck' ALL the time!" Yeah, that doesn't get old fast.
He's good at playing a role that he knows audiences (and directors) like, and makes more money than you do.
Ergo, you hate him.
I suppose you hate every president in the history of the United States, too? Because they were also good at doing something people wanted them to do and made more money than you do.

Or you know, there's the crazy chance that we might actually dislike the kid as an actor! Who would have guessed, right?
[editline]13th October 2010[/editline]
I mean he's not the only one, there are other actors I hate, it's just that this thread is specifically talking about him.
[editline]13th October 2010[/editline]
And if your silly view on this was true then we would hate every actor, but there are many actors that are amazing and deserve all the money they made.
