You don't earn anything. It would be nice to have some skins/sprays/player icons that you DO actually earn in addition to what we have now. Like a skin for a thousand headshots with Hanzo, or 1000 enemies frozen with Mei. Some actual flare. Right now it's just all RNG.
Technically there's certain sprays you can only unlock via achievements.

Also, there are very minor ones for the "Cute" and "Pixel" sprays each character has.
You basically just said what I said, but longer. Notice that I replied to that poster saying it is disingenuous to say they are nothing alike, then highlighted the same exact differences you have but without elaborating.
I was disagreeing with
Overwatch is Team Fortress with (more) abilities which causes role selection to actually matter.
Because it implies that Overwatch is TF2+ when they have big qualitative differences, and
If you put both games, stripped of their art direction (which isn't that different anyways), in a greybox environment level and compared their sandboxes the games are not significantly different other than abilities and a few movement mechanics.
Because I'm not talking about a "few movement mechanics", I'm talking about a central focus on movement for everybody. Even beyond classes like soldier and scout, movement is vital to the entire cast. Medic usually has no special mobility, but airstrafing, rocket surfing, and perfect positioning are vital for playing them. Even Heavy, the least mobile class, needs to exploit airstrafing and his melees like the Eviction Notice and the GRU to play well, because positioning is really vital for him.
