i'm pretty hype for all the sleeper stuff they're teasing for Rhea
some of the lore is pretty great.
Eve is far for an average MMO. They don't even charge you for expansion packs (which the release pretty regularly)
Every month now afaik.

fucking this, that wonderful woman Seagull is the best thing to happen to CCP and EVE in general. She's done shit that's been asked for for years in the short time she's been on the team.
I need to stop reading EVE threads, because every time I do, I want to play it again.
Only issue is, I hate paying subscriptions (and EVE's is pretty steep for me), mining is an absolute drag (having done it once before in EVE), and I am not a big fan of PvP in MMOs, especially when there is the risk of losing things you have to work to achieve (EG ships).
What I would really like to do in EVE is trading, buying from one station and selling at another. I really enjoy games with emphasis on trade routes (Freelancer hnng). Combat against AI is pretty fun, too (again, Freelancer hnng), though EVE's is a bit underselling in that regard, in my opinion.
The only real problem I have with trading in EVE (and this is very much a global issue with trading, not at all unique to EVE) is that you need money to get started. Which then leads back to falling on mining, AI missions, or PvP (I don't really know if you can make money in EVE via PvP; again, it's not my thing, so I never did it when I played EVE.)

Well you can do this, but you require significant starting capital. Freighter trading was a fun and relaxing side topic for me, and I made over 600m with a 1.8b starting investment including the freighter. I would buy cheap shit in Rens (mostly ships in bulk, 20-24 ships at a time) sell them in Amarr for profit. Find stuff cheaper in Amarr than in Rens and do the same in reverse.
T2 explo frigates were my niche, I made soooo much money off flipping those. Stealth Bombers shot up in Amarr for a while because I started monopolizing the market.

You actually don't need -that- much money to have a viable trading startup.

Yeah, he is peddling his own product for the most part, but this is just to show that trading with any amount of experience and capital is not only possible, but viable. It is easier if you have capital to start, but not strictly required. You can take this and apply it to any MMO ever. Once you actually build trading momentum, you are very quickly going to find that paying for your subscription entirely in PLEX is a non-issue.
Also, the moment you decide to stop being a solo player, and actually join a corp that is half decent with voice communication, willing to help out new players, and share some of their expertise, is the moment the game is going to open up for you. I can tell you from experience that playing solo is just not the way to go. Unless you are extraordinarily talented in PvP, have billions of isk to throw away at quality fits to make up for the numbers difference, know exactly what each ship is capable of, or any combination of the above, playing solo is just going to suck you into the boring PvE singularity that always ends up in quitting.
This trailer almost made me cry a single manly tear in remembrance of all the time I have spent with the great community that EVE has.
I don't have time to play it right now, but I will definitely return to it at some point. Each time I return, there is a lot more free new content to get involved in. The game just keeps evolving, and the community is amazing.
I fucking love EVE Online. I wish I had the money to buy another subscription.
Did I ask a question or make a statement?
It's an inside joke dating back to the early EVE Online threads here on FP. There will never be an FP corp or alliance. We don't have the numbers to make that possible. Even if we did, it wouldn't work out because we all like to do different things.
Join Pizza

We'll teach you how to have fun ;)))
Join Pizza if you want raids and roams and shit, don't think they have space though . scratch, ogopogo, capsups, mstenger, and myself are all in Blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg does roams and has ties to lose gaming and roams too, except we are in an alliance that has space.

you forgot to mention you're part of lawn though lol

why is that an important detail? I said we were an alliance, which one hardly matters in most cases. They all have the same "our e-peen is the biggest" attitude.

m8 pls
you're going to get steamrolled by the N3 guys in the south soon and your Goonswarm overlords will not help you at all.
no mads.

Apparently we are. Even though we helped Goonswarm take land initially and fought for them (getting founding alliance title and shit) they seem to be doing fuckall to help us. We don't really have the numbers to fight N3 alone...
I can officially gripe about goons again

So it's probably best if some poor new player doesn't make it out all the way into your space and then get told to evacuate
eyup, sucks thats the way it s. When it was PASTA in Delve we had fun fighting them in t1 dessies and frigs for the shiggles
LAWN is actually one of the worse goon alliances there. I personally don't see why anyone would/should join apart from the fact that it has a few facepunchers and sov (?)
Having no sov is part of the fun unless all you wanna do is rat. I remember whilst we were down in Delve we'd regularly kick lawn's butt and we'd often refer to them as being full of weird old (irl) people who aren't very good at the game.
In pizza we often fly 'newb' tier ships such as talwars and thrashers not only because they're strong but because they're cost effiecient and we've got quite a few newbs as well joining all the time.
In fact not long ago we've also got sov purely as a bonus for chewing at the russians in our new home in geminate. It's well fun.
Yeah if you're new join pizza
There's no worrying about having sov yanked out from under you, inability to dock, sudden evacuation etc etc
they're just dudes who want to play the game
There's like one good alliance FC. I know one time we had a russian titan bubbled but one of the LAWN HC guys didn't want to "escalate" or irritate anybody so were ordered to stand down after already forming up.
Now THAT is some blue balls
I remember when it was still called Lynch Squad, such an absolute blast flying with those chucklefucks. Warms my heart that the legacy continues.
Getting enough money for a PLEX within the 21 day trial is difficult but entirely possible. Either scam people, do exploration, or trade intelligently.
Maybe, although CCP sort of cockblocks you because they made p. much all of the useful skills for that not available for trial accounts. Things like cloaking.
A corp would work perfectly fine and the number doesn't matter. All you need is 4+ people for a small roam and you can slowly build up from that by inviting other corps and starting an alliance. People like to do different things in every other corp too but you learn to set this aside and work on main goals - facepunch can easily start up.
which means all the facepunchers would have to leave their current corps, which they may be very invested in, yeah nah.
nobody is going to pool their isk into a FP corp
Then you'll have no old blood with the resources and knowledge on how to run a corp or lead ops that is effectively crewed by a bunch of independent assholes. It takes a vet to herd cats, after all.
Welp I signed up for trial. Can't skill mining frigate control skills :(

You should be able too.
