some marxist groups have certainly advocated stuff like that. it's one of the reasons i'm not a marxist. marxism tends to be totalitarian in its application. free-communism(anarchism, libertarian socialism, whatever you wanna call it) is superior to marxism imho.

It's an internet forum. There is no slippery slope to deal with here. So he got banned, oh well, it's a private forum they can do whatever they want, and all the whinging in the world likely won't change that.
I call myself an expert when it comes to questions about being banned, but however I consider my speciality as stupidity bans. I find this question very intriguing, and I'd say since Facepunch is equivalent to a fascist state I'd say yes you can ban for ideology.
