I think the thing that disappoints me about what I've seen so far is that DICE have this awesome, very different world to work with but they're just cookie-cuttering the modern battlefield gameplay onto it when they could be making it play much more uniquely. That said, I have no doubts this is of EA's doing and I haven't played the game yet so I can't really talk much.
no not really
this is a BATTLEFIELD game not Verdun, and this is probably the most unique game dice has ever made, im sure they have a lot of creative freedom.
wish it was more single shot rifles but still looks like a lot of fun
I don't recall so many SMGs being used in ww1
Several weapons were modified for rapid fire like the luger.

While I don't mind the weaponry, I'd like it if there was a premade serve preset that locks the weapon choices down a bit. I guess it wouldn't really work if bolt actions are only for one class though.
How's sniper gameplay?
Not gonna lie, I didn't play that class very much. I enjoyed it from the little I played it. The flare gun for spotting people in a certain area was a neat idea. Oh and there's alternate ammo for all the sniper rifles (atleast in the alpha) that gave you the ability to do damage to a armored vehicle. You could inflict about 5% damage on a tank but only had 5 bullets. It did a little more damage on other vehicles, but I don't remember much.

So far from the alpha, everyone had a semi-auto rifle with the exception of the Support class. Each class had 3 different main weapons and one variation of each of the 3, one for range and one for close quarters. No where near all the weapons in the final game. From how it felt, SMG vs bolt action + semi-auto seemed pretty balanced. I wasn't dying more from one or the other. This felt like is the first Battlefield where it was viable as hell to use bolt action in combat and not only from 5 miles away. That'd be neat to lock down weapons as a simple server setting though. I'd be willing to try it.
Bolt action rifles should be available for all classes imo, like shotguns in previous games.

I never said it had to be Verdun, I was just saying they could have experimented with not having 90% of all weapons being automatic. And there's no doubt it's the most unique visually but I'm not feeling it's looking all that different gameplay wise to battlefield 3 and 4.

Didn't you sign an NDA? I know I had to when I was invited to a playtest session.

They dropped the NDA a couple days after the alpha went live. Besides, there's tons of videos of it on Youtube.

Good news! Less than 50% of the weapons are fully auto this time around.
Also, purely from a gameplay standpoint it's the most unique Battlefield game since at least Battlefield 2142.

Oh nice. They told me that the NDA would last until the game's release, time to spill the beans I guess..
