Maybe the kid has no self control to be agitated by a throw-away comment like that.
Maybe kid saw it as a stupid comment that not even he would use?
I tell them to get to the back with a slightly agressive tone, and if they didn't I would shove past them. One it got to the actual fight, I've already said what would happen. Bare in mind I have received training, unlike most.
Ok great solution there, give even more of a threat to the situation and then physically contact them so they can have some argument that you started the altercation, and pretty much make a fight a sure bet.
Maybe kid saw it as a stupid comment that not even he would use?
Okay so if someone made a stupid comment towards you, would you go ahead and threaten that person, walk up to them and then proceed to try to bash into him with your fists?
No people (me) said potentially put him in through hurting him. What's standing up for yourself if it comes to that, acting like some rutting peacock and doin verbal oneupmanship until he just fucks off?
The only alternative to sucking it up when people take advantage of you is to start a fight and put them in the hospital. Yep. Use your imagination.

I doubt your training had anything to do with a 14 year old kid with a mustache.
The only alternative to sucking it up when people take advantage of you is to start a fight and put them in the hospital. Yep. Use your imagination.
Let's go through a flowchart here: Ignore -> Pay and leave store "Stand up for yourself" -> Make a bigger deal about it -> Be verbally intimidating -1> Get into a fight because the other guy wants to -2> Possibly get person to move. Yeah that seems like a better path there, the one with the possibility of a fist fight.
Okay so if someone made a stupid comment towards you, would you go ahead and threaten that person, walk up to them and then proceed to try to bash into him with your fists?
Kids will be kids, they really don't have much self control and see the world differently than someone mature enough to know better. If someone made a stupid comment like that I would fucking laugh at them and turn the other way.
Ok great solution there, give even more of a threat to the situation and then physically contact them so they can have some argument that you started the altercation, and pretty much make a fight a sure bet.
umm ok You do realise I said in the fight I would have right?
umm ok You do realise I said in the fight I would have right?
What? What you do in the fight has no bearing on this.
Training which you will forget as soon as you get into a fight, basic instinct is to just punch em in the face when it comes to it.
Nope. You get taught control. It takes a lot of time though. Most of my response would be an automatic retaliation to the situation though, as I have been trained to do that.
I have attended fighting school and could probably kick the guts out of lots of people ITT (in this thread)
So just because you've received training you're going to react better? I doubt your training had anything to do with a 14 year old kid with a mustache.
You don't get trained to fight per person, you get trained to react to what your future opponent will do.
I have attended 4 MMA classes so I could probably kick the fuck out of people ITT (in this thread) Represent
What? What you do in the fight has no bearing on this.
Yes it does. He comes swinging at me, I take care of him by putting him in a position where he controls how much pain he receives.
have fun being humanity's bitch!!!
Wait, I'm confused as to which side you're on. Are you pro-beat up the kid? Or Anti-beat up the kid?
Let's go through a flowchart here: Ignore -> Pay and leave store "Stand up for yourself" -> Make a bigger deal about it -> Be verbally intimidating -1> Get into a fight because the other guy wants to -2> Possibly get person to move.
Yes it does. He comes swinging at me, I take care of him by putting him in a position where he controls how much pain he receives.
Ok so probably getting into a fight is a good choice for you because you can apparently handle yourself. Explain to me how this is a good decision path for other people?
You don't get trained to fight per person, you get trained to react to what your future opponent will do.
A kid isn't an opponent, the kid was more of a nuisance than someone Op should have fought.
Ignore -> Pay and leave store-> repeat the process in other similar situations -> be a human tool and let people take advantage of you, never stand up for yourself, it's safer and less scary that way
Oh man just knew a comment like this was coming. Shows perfectly how you have no sense of scale or how to deal with a situation. Yes i'm going to let myself be taken advantage of in serious situations throughout my life because I avoided fighting a person over them cutting in line. Not trolling here, totally serious: Are you in middle school? Cause this seems like something some kid in grade school would do, the whole get pissy over cutting and threaten a person.
I think you'll find real life isn't black and white.
Hey I can throw out empty phrases while ignoring an argument too!
Ok so probably getting into a fight is a good choice for you because you can apparently handle yourself. The op isn't me or someone with training or experience. Of course he got a different outcome.
A kid isn't an opponent, the kid was more of a nuisance than someone Op should have fought.
This is a 14 year old, not an eight year old dipstick

The not everyone is you point came up in you advocating people following the path that will probably get you into an altercation where they might not be able to handle it or the police might get involved or just any other number of bad things could happen. [editline]18th April 2011[/editline]
Ladies and gentleman, letting people take advantage of you is a feature of maturity.
The idea that a person arguing "standing up" to a kid cutting in line and probably ending up fighting him is calling me immature or something of the sort is just golden. e: How far would you extrapolate this anyways? What if the op was 25? 35? Is it still good then? Why does it change? How do you set the line?

Stop being so hypocritical it does shit all for you.
